  1. Like others said, nothing good immediately comes from losing an all pro like Tre. But an eye toward the future, this gives Dane a chance to show what he has. Imo, Levi has proven he's a starter in the NFL. No guarantee we resign him. This gives Jackson "an extended interview", and could prove he's a viable #2 going into next season. Lots of variables at this position, ie: is Tre ready early in 2022, do we resign Levi, do we draft a CB early. etc. Bottom line the main positive is that this gives Jackson time to show what he has and the staff extra film to determine how to handle CB heading into 2022.
  2. Dane will be fine, he's not Tre but few are. I've seen Dane play high school, where he was an excellent dual threat QB (recruited by some schools at that position) and then go on to play at Pitt. He's a team first, great kid. Polite, quiet and hard working. Thought he was going to beat out Levi for the #2 spot this offseason, but anyone saying we don't have depth is crazy. He will step in and do solid for us.
  3. Not to downplay the loss of Tre, prayers out to his recovery. But before we talked about a run to the superbowl, we had concerns about winning our division and beating NEs physical style of play. Our 4 losses this season came at the hands of more physical teams in the trenches and/or offense concerns. We need to get the issues fixed that doomed us against Indy, and others. Adding another issue to the list, replacing Tre, is a concern but there were more pressing issues and still an opportunity to overcome. On top of that, very few teams go unscathed with their premier players and have to battle through adversity as well. Add us to the list of GB, TB, Bal, Pitt, Cle, etc etc that have had major injuries also occur.
  4. Josh staring down and locking onto his 1st read for too long. Needs to get to 2nd progression much faster
  5. Yes, but vision is the most important trait
  6. I think Vicious works for the team, in some field work/facility role. I've seen his face at games standing near at/near the tunnel. If true, he might see portions of practice and would be able to tell who is getting reps/types of plays/etc
  7. I like Isaih, but he's made 2 critical return errors this season. Colts and WFT game. He's not getting used on offense, and Speedy was specifically drafted to replace Roberts. Kumerow over Isaih can be debated, but he brings better blocking and STs. Butler was a big part of thr problem last week, he got absolutely man handled all game and has done absolutely nothing this season. Good for the staff/admin to bench him.
  8. Agree on offseason needs. Beane needs to retool from inside out (colts mantra). If Harry is inactive, I'd expect Butler to start at the 1 tech (like last yr) and rotating with Ankou.
  9. Agree. We also haven't seen many snaps from Groot at DT, in pass rush situations, as he was often used at Miami. Whatever it takes, this dline needs to step up and play much better.
  10. Agree, Harry and Butler both played horribly against Indy. Harry, for as strong as he is, has never been an overly physical/violent player. Neither is Butler. Need an aggressive 1 tech to step up with Star out.
  11. If not this game, then next. I think "Speedy" is an upgrade on McKenzie in the return game and allows us to use isaih more on O
  12. Let's go D. Need to get up and jam/press man, with some blitzes on Wentz.
  13. Same will hold true tomorrow, which team can avoid turnovers and convert the 3rd and medium/short to maintain drives. Colts were successful on 3rd down, hopefully Frazier/Mcd find a way to generate pressure and not give up the easy cross/middle of field. On offense, hope we can keep the backs involved (and dress Breida instead of Kumerow) and feed Diggs all game.
  14. I was responding to two points: 1. Missing Brown 2. Defense being down, potentially, a few starters My point about depth was more geared toward defense, where we have guys like Harry, Klein, etc who are capable of stepping up. Regarding Brown, yes I watched what our oline did against Jacksonville. Did you notice, if you watched the game, the playcalling? No balance, it was all shotgun and pass. Then this past week against the Jets, we go under center much more and present a balanced look. Also involved Breida more. Clearly missing Brown is a drop off in play, but my point is Daboll could be helping the situation. Williams horrible at Tackle? They moved him inside because getting Brown on the field is their best 5 and Spencer isn't a guard. Overreact much? When we shifted him back. he still played solid (missed 1 3rd down block). Not sure you know what you're watching. Line isn't going to have success when Daboll calls 50 pass plays and the dline knows what's coming.
  15. Just so happened that Daboll called a horrible game against Jags, and Josh was trying to do way too much. This oline is still capable without Brown. People forget Darryl was given a nice extension for his play at RT. Daboll needs to adjust and not call 50 passes vs 9 runs. Injuries impact every team, we have a ton of depth and need to play mistake free ball. Just so happened that Daboll called a horrible game against Jags, and Josh was trying to do way too much. 16. Exactly. I've been hoping they would get under center more often and mix up thr offensive personnel groups. Daboll deserves props for great schemes/playcalls today. Even if we're not running it from under center, the threat is more real on the PA passing game. Hopefully keeps it going moving forward, staying in more balanced looks.
  17. That Cover 2, really stopping us lol. Time to put this game away on 1st drive.
  18. Myth that it's the way to stop our offense. I was responding to the ridiculous post that all of a sudden Cover 2 shuts us down...just bc Jacksonville did it 1x
  19. Because Urban Meyer supposedly said that, its now a fact that we have issues with Cover 2 coverage? Again 1 game. Where we decided to only run 9x vs 50 passes. Don't let 1 game get I. the way of your opinion and quote it as facts. Let's see how we play today, I'm sure Jets will try running the same scheme. I'm going to guess we come out more balanced and this myth of Cover 2 gives us issues, can be boiled down to Dabolls playcalling.
  20. Happy gameday all! Let's get back to business and roll today! Too much has been said about us struggling with cover 2/etc. It was 1 game against Jacksonville, an off game across the board offensively. Miami threw very few cover 2 looks our way, it was cover 0 blitzes and we adjusted in the 2nd half. I'm tired of hearing about this vaunted cover 2 that we are struggling with, it's a myth. Bottom line, we need more balance on offense and better playcalling from Daboll. Get off to a fast start and not look back...Go Bills!
  21. Stinks for Zimmer, other guys need to step up. Leaves us with 1 roster spot after all these moves, correct?
  22. Allen's job is to get us into a different play, if the defensive look dictates that. I think that is what he is pointing out. Plenty of blame to go around, coaching is primary IMO right now. Absolutely no reason we are continuing to put no threat of a running game. Plenty of different blocking/run schemes that they could be trying. Or formations, etc. No variety=we are counting on our guys just to be more talented and outperform the defense. It's way too vanilla and I'd be shocked if we didn't see a much different offense this week.
  23. Not sure if anyone said this yet or not (didn't read all posts).. But Jags were blitzing a def back from the backside, so it allowed the 3-tech DT freedom to crash inside (knowing he has a DE and DB containing the edge/outside gaps). Can't compare the Bills vs Colts stretch run bc of that. In addition, this is the exact reason I can't stand Dabolls playcalling right now. We go under center and teams are sending an extra blitzer, we should be countering that with downfield passes/screens. When was the last time we countered a blitz with a deep sideline pass? We are too predictable this year on offense, that's on Daboll and also Josh to make the right read/get us into the best play.
  24. Obviously OL isn't great, and Motor/Moss aren't game-breakers but these guys could be more successful. Plenty of blame to go around, but I put it mostly on Daboll. His lack of creativity and stubbornness to stick with a gamelan that isn't working is mind blowing. Gap/wham blocking, power/pulls/traps, more jet sweeps, counters etc. He sticks with his zone/stretch concepts that aren't executing right now. On top of that, it hinders our ability to have any semblance of balance or playaction, instead defenses know we are 1-dimemsional and gear up for the pass. Game is solely on Josh shoulders every single week. I think he's capable most weeks of getting the job done, but we could be so much more efficient and dynamic.
  25. I'd like to see how many OLs hold up on pass pro, consistently, when dropping back 50x and running only 10x a game. McDermott said the equivalent, we need better balance. I put this squarely on Daboll to scheme a better run game, and/or mix in the playaction and rollouts. I mean we only have a huge/mobile Qb, yet drop into shotgun for almost all our plays. We tried to come out in 12 personnel and playaction in 2nd half, but had a false start. This is what we need to be mixing in more of, get creative with formations, etc. way too much reliance on Josh talent this year, and just leaving our OL out to dry when the Dline glean pin their ears back and LBs can drop into their hook/curl zones
