The best and worst contracts for Veteran QBs
Ethan in Cleveland replied to cage's topic in The Stadium Wall
To be gsir, Tampa and Tams won their SuperBowls with their QB contracts. Yes they may not look great now but they got their Championship. Dak and Wilson have two of the worst coaches in NFL San Fran has a championsip roster. Overspending at the QB position for 1 year insurance may also net them a ring. Beane has some interesting choices coming up. Oliver, Edmunds, and Davis will all be coming due soon. There are options with each. He can tag Edmunds, force Oliver to play on the 5th year extension as he did Edmunds and he can try and extend Davis now or tag him in 2024. Its great to have all these good to great players to potentially bring back. Guys like Epenesa, Hyde, Singletary are just going to have to let walk and rebuild through draft. And that still leaves Poyer.... -
Secondary market tickets: Ticketmaster the only option?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to JCBoston's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hmmm. Never experienced that bit honestly I dont shop around that much as I always have found what I want on Stub Hub. I am admittedly a seat snob and mostly get club level even for Bills Pats playoff game last year. -

Stub hub is the only service I use. It works great. -
The Minkah Theft - Question?
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Last Guy on the Bench's topic in The Stadium Wall
1. Coaches can't challenge. It was a scoring play thus it would be a booth review 2. Yes you can fumble and have change of possession without the ball hitting the ground 3. I think most saw it the same way - Davis begins the catch with his right hand and begins to bring the ball to his body at which point Fitzpatrick and Davis both have their arms on the ball and Davis ultimately rips it away. At no point did Fitzpatrick have sole possession of the ball. Therefore at worst it was simultaneous possession of the ball which goes to Davis. Heck of a play by both players and shows again just how close the plays are in the NFL. Davis has a TD stripped against Miami and then finishes the catch this week against the Steelers. -
If the Browns or Jets take Allen, not sure how the story of McD and Beane would have been written. Beane has made countless good moves. McD has improved as a HC. Maybe they make a move for a veteran QB, maybe if Allen was gone Beane stays put and take Lamar. No one will ever know except a tiny few.

Hamlin Hit/ New leeway for fake slides
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Buffalo Boy's topic in The Stadium Wall
It was a clean hit. Close but good no call. If he led with head or hit higher up then it would have been illegal. Next time it happens to Allen we need to see it the same way. I really like how Allen isn't giving the defenders chances at taking cheap shots. He is finishing his runs or he is making the slides blatantly obvious. -
Lets talk about the 3 big firsts today.
Ethan in Cleveland replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall
Morris would have had his first career TD reception too if he holds onto the ball. -
Just saw a replay of the terrible roughing the passer call against the Falcons on a perfect tackle of Brady in the pocket. Terrible call. Defender did absolutely nothing wrong.

After Shakir scored his first career TD, he threw the ball to the ref. Allen went and retrieved the ball and returned it to Shakir. Class act by a true leader!

1. Hamlin and Johnson are playing well today 2. Hamlin and Johnson may be listed as bigger than White, but they don't look any bigger than White. 3. Bills have turned a problem at corner into one of the great strengths of the team. Good problem to have

Like someone said on draft weekend, if Shakir was taken in 3rd round and Bernard in the 5th nobody would have been complaining about not addressing the offense. Shakir looks like the real deal. -

Late hit by OL on Milano was a cheap shot. That is the stuff the NFL needs to enforce better. Completely unnecessary hit. -

Dam tie goes to the WR? They both had possession in the end-zone. Nice job by Davis to finish the catch. -
10/9/22 Gameday Steelers at Bills Pregame Thread
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Still readjusting to 1pm football. Made a Home Depot run and will have some time to install some new USB outlets and timer switches in the new house. What are your pregame non tailgating activities while waiting for the 1pm kickoff? -
I tend to agree. Pretty sure they said the same thing about basketball in Toronto back in the day. The difference is that basketball was already international with the Olympics and European players becoming stars in the NBA. There is no international pipeline of players to grow football overseas. Add to that, are there 4 more QBs that are starting quality? Another 200 players that can play at the NFL level? I dont think so.

What's your all time favorite NFL play by play call?

Great choice. Great call and great camera work. -
Turning Point: Breaking down the Poyer endzone INT
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
The play sums up NFL so well. The teams are so closely matched. At the outset of the play the defense got burnt letting a wide open guy get to the corner of the endzone. Then not one but two Bills pass rushers put pressure on Jackson. Then Poyer makes an all-Pro play by recognizing the blown coverage and getting there in time for the INT. Everyone mocks Jauron for saying it, but it takes a lot of things to go right to win in the NFL. Having a potential league MVP at QB covers up for some stuff but not everything. -
Week 5: Steelers at Bills 10/9 1pm
Ethan in Cleveland replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
What spark did Pickett provide? He threw three interceptions in one half. I'm not saying Bills can't lose, but championship teams should not lose to lesser opponents at home. -
I have a Marv Levy connection too. First I saw him eating dinner alone at Russell's Steakhouse a few years ago. I was there with my siblings for a family reunion. We had a big group. We left him alone but as he walked out he stopped by the table and spoke with my family. Second one of my patients was faculty at Coe College. He knew Marv very well from his time there. I did not know this but Marv kept up his connection to Coe throughout the years. They named a street on the campus after him. My patient said Marv was always kind and generous with his time.
