  2. LOL...Chiefs fans freaking out. See the comments in the tweet below:

In the Wild Card Round that season, the Chiefs played the Steelers in a close, hotly-contested matchup. The Chiefs went down 18-10 with under 10 minutes to go in the game. Smith then led a seven-minute, 15-play touchdown drive to get KC within two points with 2:43 left on the clock. Smith and company just needed a two-point conversion to tie the game, and they got it when the Chiefs QB found Demetrius Harris in the end zone. However, NFL referee Carl Cheffers (No. 51) threw a flag and called a controversial holding call on Chiefs left tackle Eric Fisher. The next attempt failed. Ben Roethlisberger got the ball back, the Steelers got a 1st-down, and Big Ben took three knees to end the game. After the game, Travis Kelce didn’t hold back. The then-budding star said if NFL referees “want to take over the game and make it their own platform, there’s nothing you can do about it.” Kelce vehemently asserted it wasn’t a hold on Fisher and then went on to crush Cheffers in a classic rant that could only have come from the outspoke tight end. “[We] just got out jugulars ripped out because ref felt bad for James Harrison falling on the ground,” Kelce fumed. “It’s ignorance. The ref, No. 51, shouldn’t even be able to wear a zebra jersey ever again. He shouldn’t even be able to work at f***ing Foot Locker.”' https://www.si.com/extra-mustard/2023/01/31/super-bowl-referee-carl-cheffers-stats [limited free views] "Based on Carl Cheffers Stats, Expect Lots of Flags and the Under in Super Bowl LVII" "According to BetArizona.com, which was kind enough to send me some stats, Cheffers ranked first in total penalties called per game this season at 12.59. Cheffers also led all NFL refs in penalties called last season. He also was first in total yards in penalties given per game at 109.94. Cheffers and his crew (which will be different for the Super Bowl) also called 21 pass interferences this season, which ranked second among NFL refs."
  4. Where did you get these? Capsules haven't been released yet. Were they announced on last Sunday's games?
  5. Not anymore. Sigh...
  6. Well, the Cincy wins moves Buffalo from 11th to 12th place in the AFC. Great.
  7. I see losses to Dallas, Baltimore, and us. They aren't getting the number-one seed with an 11-6 record.
  8. Except I can't believe Cincy is any threat to us this season without Burrow, so I would prefer for the Jaguars to lose. Or maybe it is better they win since they are the most beatable number one seed at home??
  9. ManningCast on ESPN2 guests:
  10. In a subscriber-only article, Andrew Marchand writes about the Monday night flex: he confirms the Cowboys (and presumably all NFC teams) have to appear on FOX at least eight times between Weeks 1 and 17, so Fox didn't have to protect the Dallas at Buffalo game in Week 15 and instead chose to protect Philadelphia at Seattle. As an incentive to let the NFL flex that game, the league didn't move Chicago at Cleveland, which FOX wanted to keep, to Saturday. https://nypost.com/2023/12/04/sports/inside-the-elaborate-dance-behind-the-nfls-flex-schedule/ Screenshot:
  11. BREAKING: https://frontofficesports.com/manningcast-mayhem-peyton-and-eli-to-juggle-simultaneous-mnf-games-in-one-epic-show/ ManningCast Mayhem: Peyton and Eli to Juggle Simultaneous MNF Games in One Epic Show "ESPN plans to give TV viewers a double dose of the ManningCast, Front Office Sports has learned. For the first time, the NFL will broadcast two NFL games simultaneously on “Monday Night Football” on Dec. 11, which means Super Bowl-winning brothers Peyton and Eli Manning will do the same on their “Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli” broadcast. The Mannings are poised to call two games – the Green Bay Packers at the New York Giants and Tennessee Titans at Miami Dolphins – at the same time, akin to a mini Red Zone broadcast, which will be aired on ESPN2. MNF’s top announce team of Troy Aikman, Joe Buck and Lisa Salters will call Packers-Giants on ABC and ESPN+. Louis Riddick, Dan Orlovky, Chris Fowler and Laura Rutledge will have Titans-Dolphins on ESPN and ESPN+. [...] The Mannings will have their normal A-List guests drop in during the alternative telecast. There will also be limited commercial breaks enabling viewers to watch and follow both primetime games side-by-side. Naturally, if one game is more compelling, the brothers will focus on the more compelling contest, said sources." Also:
  12. Plus, some say the refs will be working against us: Thanks again for this!
  13. But we never had a first-round bye in the WC round since 2017. Maybe they are including the Cincy games that was cancelled last year?
  14. Like previous years, they won't decide until after the Sunday games Week 17. This is so they can have the most fair and balanced slate as possible. They want to assure no team is able to rest starters or not play hard because a competitor won or lost earlier in the day.
  15. Yet some people want him here as coach?!?!
  16. You must be in central Europe, like Germany, France, or Italy? Then just win out. It's not that hard. With Josh and the way we played in Philly, we can beat anyone, all the way to a SB win.
  17. Thank you for stating that. That would be ok. If he is put on the Exempt List, then we have no choice. But I just don't want a Deshaun Watson situation, where he is not on the Exempt List, but he is told to stay home and still get paid. Either put him on the Exempt List, or don't. But if you don't, Von Miller plays. We cannot afford to voluntarily pay him to sit; we're not rich like Dallas. The NFL must force our hand.
  18. We are not paying him to stay at home. If he is not worthy of being suspended or cut or put on IR, he's playing (or at least dressing and then being named inactive) as far as I'm concerned. I don't waste food and I wont tolerate throwing away money. We don't have that luxury. It's bad enough we lost Araiza and the draft pick.
  19. I hear ya! It was bad for me in my younger years. My entire Sunday got to be ruined often in the 80's and 90's. Being a fan takes its toll.
  20. A few more points on this: 1. Ticket sales/attendance is not hurt by this flexing since fans inconvenienced just resell these tickets on TicketMaster or the like. These marketers love it when flexes happen. As long as attendance s not hurt, the NFL doesn't care about the inconvenience to some fans since they feel the greater good is to show the better game to a wider audience on TV. 2. I also read this story on another forum about a visitor from abroad almost being screwed over by the MNF flex: "My cousin in Amsterdam is flying in for the game. Now he has done this several times in past years and he flies in on Friday and flies home on Monday. This time because of a better airplane ticket price he is flying home on Tuesday which as it turns out a good decision. If he had stuck to what he has done in the past and fly home on Monday he would have missed the game and with no refund on his airplane ticket. He might have been able to make a change to the airplane ticket but would have had to pay a hefty change fee. So for those of you who are happy with the flex keep in mind that changing the game from Sunday to Monday can be a major problem for those holding tickets and in this case not only for those with the tickets to the Seahawks-Eagles game but also those holding tickets to the Chiefs-Patriots game." 3. And this is from the Phans in Philly group who are flying to Seattle for the game. They lucked out, with difficulty: https://www.facebook.com/phansofphilly/posts/896584071831150 "The league doesn't make things easy on us! Our whole trip to Seattle was built around the game being Sunday. Our hotel was checking out Monday, and our flights home were Monday! All the vendors we work with, like caterers, transportation, etc, were all booked around Sunday. We spent the day making adjustments and rescheduling everything. I'm happy to say we pulled it all off and we are still getting our Phans out for the game! See you all out there for another prime time game! Go Birds!! #FlyEaglesFly"
