Train Horn Haters - Alternate Ideas?
Nextmanup replied to JohnBonhamRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well, you know, it's the excitement, the energy, the crowd....I guess. I agree with you. There is a long list of negatives to overcome to actually go to one of these games, and if you aren't passionate about the game in the first place, not sure why you would do it. -

Buffalo Bills Defense: What are you prepared to do about this man today!? Make him eat those rings, while still on his fingers. -
The analogy I think of is Marvin Lewis at Cincinnati. Too many grades on McDermott's report card are "C+" type stuff, though he has done a few things very well, historically. Getting the team prepared to play each week and coming out on fire was always seemingly one of his strengths, and even that has been tested this year.

Is their NFL coverage half as annoying as their F1 coverage? I want to strangle Ted Kravitz, Crofty, and especially Karun Chandhok. Even old Martin Brundle has been getting on my nerves! And I was always a huge fan of his even back when he was driving a Brabham. -
What happens in today's game that are "small wins" for the Bills?

I was expecting something more insightful from a man of your accomplishments, Marcus! -

When you are that skilled at making the correct pre-snap reads, and get rid of the ball THAT quickly, you'll make any offensive line look good...which is what Brady has always done. -

There is a certain breed of "sports fan" that is at the game to feed off the energy, be out with friends, it's something to do...get drunk....it's that type of thing for them. Sabres games have been cursed with these types for years now. I always laugh at the number of women I see, obviously dragged to the game by their husband/boyfriend sitting next to them, who ARE READING A BOOK WHILE AT THE SABRES GAME. LOL -
Who says that wind occurs during a game? The wind that knocked that chunk out of the silo would not have occurred during a game, even if we had an open air stadium right where it SHOULD BE...near the hockey arena. Looking through this thread, it's utterly hilarious how poorly situated Buffalo, NY is, on the map. It's freaking lightning rod for horrific weather, and none of it is particularly difficult to understand. And it ain't gonna change, either.

People who are opposed to firing McDermott in this thread are not really opposed to firing McDermott. They are afraid that we will end up much worse after the coaching change. There's no guarantee a change improves the team, and some people focus on that aspect of it. In theory, everyone should support a coaching change, given the premise that it actually improves the team. Who doesn't want to see the team improved?

That was the type of thing that gave rise to conversation during the week that maybe Daboll is under pressure from McDermott to "Run more" or to call some plays that perhaps he personally doesn't approve of. Some of those plays we did call didn't seem well thought out and they were inconsistent with proven Daboll favorites down in the red zone! If we are down anywhere near the 5 yard line, let's say...and you run Josh wide, heading for the pylon, with an ability for him to cut back anywhere along that long run to the pylon....or maybe he even ends up going the long route to the pylon....that play is nearly unstoppable!

Ironically, the only place the Bills have been buried is in WNY among their own fanbase...who should know them better than anyone else! If you look at what the national media and Vegas are saying...we are still a top favorite to go deep in the playoffs and most pundits have already dismissed the home NE game as "crazy" and a "one off". So what is different about TBD or Bills fans in general? BIAS. They are the people who want the Bills to win THE MOST and therefore are the most DISAPPOINTED right now. It darkens their mood and brings out doom and gloom predictions. Follow the people who don't give a rat's ass who wins or loses! What are THOSE people saying? They are still BIG on the Bills.

And we are better than New England! Not a popular opinion here right now, but your average Bills fan doesn't appreciate what a mickey mouse outlier of a game that was. You can't draw many conclusions from it. 3 20+ point wins and a close, tough win over NE and we are in the playoffs, even if we get KILLED by Tampa today. All hope is not lost.

New flash to the OP : chasing the almighty $$$ overcame the sanctity of the sport a LONG TIME AGO... Like from the very beginning. As I keep writing in these threads: when will these idiot owners figure out they can sell out advertising space on uniforms? I can't believe they haven't done that already, but NFL ownership is rich, not smart.

I don't have a problem with putting McD on the hot seat...just make sure you have a plan for replacing him with someone who is actually better if you do decide to move on! -

Can you provide us with a sound sample for evaluation? -
NY Times says they have a 100% chance to make playoffs even with a LOSS to TAMPA, but then 4 wins thereafter.

For what it's worth, I would have said greatest HC prior to BB was Bill Parcells, or maybe even Bill Walsh who I always thought was a notch smarter than most. Shula definitely would be considered by many to be GOAT...

This topic came up on the radio during the week. It was suggested that the old fashioned NFL coaching rule of "benching" a player if he fumbles is just idiotic, and treats the player almost like a child. As though the player just wasn't thinking clearly enough or trying hard enough not to fumble. I mean, stuff happens...and these guys all know fumbles = BAD. So then why are you benching the guy? More mediocre coaching.
