Fire Sale in Denver going to happen
Phil The Thrill replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
bigger concern for Denver might be the giant Dead cap hit they would take -
Thank you for such kind and eloquent words! About Norwood, I have always felt fans overrated him because he was so kind, soft spoken and likeable. He’s a guy that you want to cheer for for and support - especially after missing....well your know the rest. As a kicker, outside of a very good 1988 season, he was very average. This is in comparison to other kickers of his time. One mistake Polian made was waiting too long to move on from Norwood. The strength of his leg was deteriorating and by 1989 and in 1990 he could barely kick the ball in the end zone on kickoffs. But rather than moving on, he just signed Brad Daluiso for kickoffs and let Norwood kick FG’s - which he did pretty poorly in 1991. It was one of his worst years. Its fine to like Norwood, in my opinion, I just don’t feel he was as good as some fans want to BILLieve ??

Here is a funny topic some fellow Bills fans and I were discussing while tailgating. Is it a party foul or maybe a “fashion “faux pas” to show up to a Bills game wearing a jersey of a player who no longer plays on the team. I don’t mean old players who are synonymous with Buffalo like legends like Jim Kelly, Bruce Smith or even fan favorites like Stevie Johnson or Fred Jackson. Even the fans who wore Mario Williams jerseys....he’s not longer in the NFL so I guess that’s ok. But I’m talking more jerseys of former Bills who are still playing in the NFL. Obviously, I’m guessing people spent a lot of money on the jersey and didn’t want to spend more on another jersey just because that player left. I get it from a logic standpoint. But from a fan standpoint (and as a jersey buff), I think it’s kind of weird. At the stadium Sunday I saw Bills fans wearing jerseys of Ryan Fitzpatrick, Stephon Gilmore (Ironic, huh?), LeSean McCoy, Tyrod Taylor, Sammy Watkins and many more. You wouldn’t believe how many people had on Marcel Dareus jerseys! There were a lot LOL. So as a Bills fans, what’s your own stance on wearing a Bills jersey of a current NFL player who is playing with another team?

Marcel Dareus cited for weed possession in Florida

Dareus is a bum. I feel for the many Bills fans I saw last week walking around in a #99 Bills jersey -
These threads remind me of Uncle Rico of Napoleon Dynamite “ooooh if I could only go back to 1983.” Bills fans love to romanticize about the past and assume that players who leave and have success would be able to experience the same exact success here in Buffalo, regardless. I’m pretty sure this wasn’t the case. There’s a lot of pining for Robert Woods here. “Oh we never should have let Roberts Woods walk, waaa waaa.” Take a look at his numbers for the first 4 years of his career. They are decent, but he never broke 700 yards....EVER. We are talking Zay Jones numbers - a receiver that many consider to be a disappointment. Numbers aside, while Wood was a steady performer for the Bills I can’t remember very many games where he dominated. I do remember a Monday night game against Seattle where he was unstoppable, but aside from that he was a #2 at best. In 2017, there was no outcry from the Bills fan base saying “we need to keep Woods.” Most fans were very indifferent - they would have been ok with him resigning but no one really cared much when he left. So Woods has success in LA with an innovative offensive-minded HC and a QB who can throw 50 passes a game and has success. There’s no guarantee he does the same thing in Buffalo. In fact, I’d be willing to bet he puts up Zay Jones numbers still. But I guess it’s more fun to say “We never should have let Robert Woods go”. This strikes me as a bit of revisionist history. Why did you know the Bills would “rue the day?” Woods was averaging 10 yards per catch and am gaining around 600 yards a season. Now that he’s experience some success in LA, it’s easy to say that but I don’t at all remember fans saying it was a mistake to let Woods walk. Maybe when Zay Jones leaves After next season, I’ll start worrying ?

Have You Started To Lose Faith in Josh Allen?
Phil The Thrill replied to Phil The Thrill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The problem is, this is not a reaction based on one game. In 3 out of the 4 games this season he’s had some pretty bad moments. It’s not like he’s been lights out all season and then he has a bad game against NE. There has been several moments over the past 4 weeks that might be red flags -
Make the trade for Stephon Diggs

good player but doesn’t he have a big contract? Also he is not a true #1 that the team needs -
RIP Bill Bidwill.

Is Bidwell responsible for bring Buddy Ball to the desert?!?! -
Josh Allen took a very brutal looking helmet-to-helmet hit on Sunday and is in concussion protocol. With that being said, he was around teammates in the locker room after and he has been practicing (limited -no contact) with the team. With head injuries being so unpredictable take a guess whether Allen win play! I have a feeling he’ll be starting Sunday

Let me make this crystal clear - If you actually read my comments - I never NEVER said he “sucks.” I did say he was horrible against NE, which you also said. I’d also disagree with your take that his performance against Cincinnati and the Jets was “solid.” He was very good in the 4th quarter but you can argue, based on the total yardage, that his earlier turnovers prevented the Bills from putting the game away sooner. My point...again...:was that we’ve seen very good moments and some very bad moments over the first 3 games. The game against New England, sans the one scoring drive, was largely negative. We saw Josh revert back to the old bad habits from college. So I asked, based on that bad performance, if you were concerned about the future. Personally, I think this might be a red flag, but we will have to let the season unfold to see what happens. -

What worries me about this is, Favre seemed to elevate his WR’s. Antonio Freeman were 3rd round draft picks. Mark Chmura was a 6th round draft pick. Donald Driver was a 6th round pick. Favre never really had a highly ranked #1 WR to throw to, but he did make his receivers stars. Allen has yet to do this. I don’t think that is entirely correct. Yes the line could have done a better job in protecting, but if you look at the game again, you’ll see Allen choose to leave the pocket when he didn’t have to. Several of the sacks came from Allen trying to do too much. He held onto the ball, rather than trying to take what the defense gave him. So while the line could have been better, had Allen made quicker, smarter decisions, you wouldn’t have noticed so much pressure -

There’s a difference between being biased and being honest with what you are seeing - even when it’s not what the result you want. Many Bills fans seem to have an issue with the latter. There are all kinds of excuses and bogus rationalizations (like you saying the blocked punt was the difference) for Josh’s performance but the bottom line is - he stunk. He hurt the team very badly and had it not been for excellent defense, his mistakes could have sunk the team. Everyone who watches the game said it. I just read Joe Buscaglia’s All 22 report and Josh got a D+.....a D+! The jury is still very much out on Allen. While his game winning drives given us hope, performances like Cincinnati and New England make you second guess whether he’ll actually fix his game. That’s the whole point of this thread. -

If we are playing that game, you can argue that the two Allen sacks on 3rd down that knocked the Bills out of FG range, cost 6 points. So even with the blocked punt that puts the game at 16-16. This would allow the Bills to kick the FG and win 19-16. This is a ridiculous game to play but Allen our the Bills defense is terrible positions. He was awful. This was a game the Bills should win
