  1. This is full on passive aggressive nonsense - first you praise Allen then throw him under the bus with a ridiculous attack. So I have to ask you - are you really a Bills fan or just a troll here to stir up trouble? I just can't believe any Bills fan would post the above as it displays a total ignorance about Allen & the Bills. Hell, it displays a total ignorance about football in general and quarterbacking in particular. I think even a casual look at Johnson and Allen's playoff stats would disprove your point convincingly. It doesn't "border on deranged" it is DERANGED.
  2. Allen has been one of the few if not ONLY Buffalo Bill who has proven to be reliable and perform at an elevated level in the playoffs. If those around Allen, both coaches & players, had been as reliably great during the playoffs as Allen has then the Bills would have a minimum of 2 Super Bowl championships and likely be heading for their 3rd. I won't criticize Allen until I see other players/coaches on this team rising to the occasion in the playoffs to the same degree and with the same consistency as Allen has. Period, end of discussion.
  3. There's no reason for me to think that those Bills AFL championship teams could have beat the NFL champion Packers or Browns. The fact is that in the 1st SB season, which was the Bills 3rd straight AFL championship appearance, the Chiefs who beat the Bills 31 - 7 IN BUFFALO lost to the Packers 35 - 10. Now I know football game results are not necessarily transitive but that result makes it hard to believe those Bills teams were on the same level as the NFL champs.
  4. I am old enough and while I was a kid in the mid 60's so my memory is a bit hazy I vividly remember when the AFL reached parity with the NFL at the top and that wasn't until 1968. The Bills had a great AFL team in those days but it was inferior to the best NFL teams. My comp would be in soccer the MLS compared to the British Premier league. Winning an MLS title is a big deal and the top MLS players are very good but they are not close to being as good as the Premier league. And as others have said, IMO Lamonca was the better QB on the Bills at that time which he showed in later years at Oakland.
  5. Extending Cook should be Bean's #1 off season priority.
  6. Professional football lost something primal with the merger. The hatred between the two leagues was real and had me as a Bills fan rooting big time for the Jets & Chiefs in the 1968 & 1969 Super Bowl games. But I also realized in hindsight that it wasn't until the late 60's that the best AFL teams were a match for the best NFL teams. Those Kemp championship Bills teams would have been at best middle of the road NFL teams in 1964 & 1965. For full disclosure, I was a Lamonica fan over Kemp.
  7. No. Kemp is an all time legacy Bills player. But the AFL in 1964 & 1965 was the minor leagues compared to the NFL. When the AFL started getting better and approaching the NFL in quality Kemp and the Bills fell off the face of the planet. The Chiefs beat the Bils 31 - 7 in the 1966 season champiosnhip game (in Buffalo) before being squashed by the Packers 35 - 10 in the 1st Super Bowl. Allen's 5 straight division titles is a far greater accomplishment then Kemp's back to back AFL championships. And let's not even talk about Kelly's 4 straight Super Bowl appearances. Those early year AFL championships were pinky rings.
  8. Fan boy! Strip away your passive BS Here's what you accused, yes accused, Allen of: * Firing Dorsey, drafting Keon… all those things don’t happen without Allen’s OK (and perhaps even his pushing). So Allen fired Dorsey, got it. * He’s very loyal but maybe also a little comfortable in that role, and in his day-to-day. There is a fine line between being loyal and comfortable though… it is a potential path into Rodgers or Peyton territory. From the Bills end, I do absolutely get it, he is the franchise. You need to do whatever it takes to keep him happy, particularly while he’s still this good. So Allen is a diva who is to comfortable, got it. * Diggs was not unhappy because he wasn’t getting the ball… he was unhappy because he wanted to win, and he disagreed that having the QB ‘run’ the organization was the best way to win. I just don’t think he liked where this was going. but Diggs had a fundamental problem with how the Bills operated, and he wasn’t going to get through to Allen on what he thought the Bills should do, so he was out. So Allen runs the Bills and doesn't want to win as much as Diggs did, got it. I’m not saying Allen runs the defense or makes all the signings or anything like that. Yea because saying "Allen runs the defense and makes all the signings" is bat feces crazy. I’m just saying he’s extremely powerful now in the organization. Like, he’s the most powerful QB right now in any organization (more powerful than his closest peers: Mahomes, Burrow or Lamar). So Allen is the most powerful QB right now. More powerful then Mahomes, Burrow & Lamar. So why hasn't he surrounded himself with offensive studs? You do know that Burrows publicly argued for the Bengals to draft Chase in the 1st round. What that will mean in the long term I don’t know… But I'm sure you will tell us and it won't reflect well on Allen. it may keep them from ever winning a Super Bowl with him (in fact if they don’t I would argue it was the biggest reason why they didn’t, I would agree with Diggs). So you think Allen is keeping us from winning a Super Bowl. And if we don't win a Super Bowl the biggest reason will be Allen, got it. But right now, I do think it’s hard to argue against the Bills’ approach, because what choice do the Bills have? This approach hopefully keeps Allen from being disgruntled, and it keeps the head coach in a job. What the hell? I don’t think Allen is outwardly power-hungry or anything like that, so you think Allen is only inwardly power hungry? in fact, I don’t think this necessarily comes from a bad place beyond him not wanting to disrupt a life he currently enjoys. He wants to be the consummate leader, and often will shoulder too much of the load. In fact, my gut is he was satisfied with the defensive performance against Kansas City, and feels like he probably should have scored at the end of the game to win the game (I wouldn’t agree with him… the defense was bad). My hope is given that McDermott has been able to swallow his pride to this degree at this point, he may even be willing to significantly alter his defensive philosophy and priorities in player acquisition to better suit what the team needs when they play top level competition in the playoffs. I think that’s the Bills’ best chance going forward. This last paragraph is pure creative writing trolling. No Bills can could write it, or read it, with a straight face
  9. Rather then Allen running the Bills organization and telling Bean who to draft in the 1st & 2nd rounds his Coleman comment sounds like someone trying to make the new guy feel good about joining the Bills. Especially as there was some negative stuff being said about the Coleman pick. Past, Present and Future drafts have ALL been about the scouting department and not about Allen running the draft.
  10. I've seen some pretty wild anti-Allen takes on 2BD but this one is the weirdest and wildest one yet. What proof do you have for any of the stuff you just vomited out here? This is a fake psycho babble analysis of Allen that defies basic logic and common sense. This rambling rant could be used as the poster child for a passive aggressive attack on another person. This best sums up this post: "what you've just wrote is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul"
  11. IF he's right? Do you actually believe a word in that passive aggressive hit piece on Allen? The jury is still out on both Coleman & Kincaid. A lot of very knowledgeable football folks thought both picks were great.
  12. Remember the NE/Bills playoff game a couple of years ago? Allen would do the same to the current Bills D.
  13. By any rational definition the Bills greatly exceeded preseason expectations. And for that I join with others in saying thank you. I believe that the Bills have reopened their Super Bowl window this season even as they worked through a significant player changing of the guard and the accompanying CAP issues. Or to be more precise that window never closed and remains wide open. It is reasonable to assume that this team will be better next year. And with 9 home games and a schedule that seems to have the toughest competition playing in Buffalo the Bills are in a great position to nail down the #1 seed. Finally, there are a number of young players who are on the rise while Allen is entering his prime years. And if Nick Sirianni, Bruce Arians & Zack Taylor can get to Super Bowls then so can McD.
  14. I like Vrabel but as a head coach he was not as good as McD has been. His overall record over 6 seasons was 54 - 45 and his playoff record was 2 - 3 with 3 playoff appearances in 6 seasons and 1 AFC championship loss.
  15. That would explain a lot. I still believe that Kincaid will be a great TE for the Bills.
  16. There isn't one guy among the 7 who just landed new jobs I would want over McD. If you honestly look out at the head coach/GM talent pool the Bills already have a top 10 or maybe even a top 5 pair. I would trade McD for Reid in a heart beat as would I trade Bean for the Eagles GM. Hell I would also like to have Musk's money to. But it ain't happening. So beyond the HOF coach and GM who are actually better then McD/Bean would people want? McVay? Tomlin? Harbaugh (either of them), Taylor, Quinn, McCarthy, Belicheat, some random college coach or some random coordinator? It's frustrating as hell because McD & Bean have not been good enough. IMO though we're on the cusp of winning a SB. And whether by luck or some subtle improvements in McD/Bean we are better positioned to win that SB sticking with these two guys.
  17. I'm not sure I fully believe this given recent history BUT like you I choose to see the Bills future as a glass half full. They have reopened their SB window while also getting out of CAP hell and the loss of a bunch of older players. We are very close that's for sure.
  18. To keep your sanity understand that we're dealing with a tiny minority of Bills "fans" and some scummy internet trolls here. Normal, thinking Bills fans know that Allen has not been the limiting factor in getting to a SB - not even close. Allen is the only reason the Bills are considered to be a SB contender. Playoff Record: Allen 7 - 6; Rivers 5 - 7 Passing Stats: Allen = 3,359 yrds; 25 TD's & 4 INT's Rivers = 2965 yrds; 16 TD's & 10 INT's Rushing Stats: Allen = 668 yrds; 7 TD's & 2 lost fumbles Rivers = 46 yrds; 1 TD and 0 lost fumbles Receiving Stats: Allen = 1 TD Rivers = 0 TD Total Post Season Offensive Production: Allen = 4027 yrds; 33 TD's & 6 TO's Rivers = 3011 yrds; 16 TD's & 10 TO's Rivers and Allen are not even in the same conversation.
  19. A better and more honest statement would be that the Bills Defense has been "owned" by Mahomes and Andy Reid. Mahomes has in no way owned Allen.
  20. Two of the Chief DBs are looking at Shakir expecting Allen to dump it off!
  21. Not even close. Here are the post season comparisons remembering that Rivers played 17 seasons and Allen has played 7 seasons: Record: Allen 7 - 6; Rivers 5 - 7 Passing Stats: Allen = 3,359 yrds; 25 TD's & 4 INT's Rivers = 2965 yrds; 16 TD's & 10 INT's Rushing Stats: Allen = 668 yrds; 7 TD's & 2 lost fumbles Rivers = 46 yrds; 1 TD and 0 lost fumbles Receiving Stats: Allen = 1 TD Rivers = 0 TD Total Post Season Offensive Production: Allen = 4027 yrds; 33 TD's & 6 TO's Rivers = 3011 yrds; 16 TD's & 10 TO's Rivers and Allen are not even in the same conversation.
  22. This is Allen's legacy only among the football illiterate and sports ignoramuses of the wider world. Those that know the game see Manning to NE's Brady.
  23. The larger sample size was the regular & post season - 19 games total before last night. And in those games Allen had only 8 TO's. Through 20 games, which is a pretty decent sample size, Allen only had 8 TO's. And in his last 5 playoff games Allen has not turned the ball over. I couldn't care less about turnover worthy plays within this context.
  24. Or the TE holds on to the very catchable ball that hit his hands. That was a remarkable play by Allen anyway you look at it. It was also an incredibly clutch play by Allen. But here we are on 2BD in a thread titled "Josh choked tonight" having to defend the Bills QB from crazy people. It's just sad.
  25. Again they're not "interceptions"unless the DB's hold on to the ball and the fumbles were not lost. I just don't get the obsession with "turnover worthy" plays. It's a ridiculous stat that might only be useful if we could travel between alternate universes. Allen did not play an elite game but he did play a great game. If you replay this game with Allen playing exactly how he played last night but the defense played better or the O line played better or the receivers played better the Bills win and are going to the Super Bowl.
