I always loved him. I thought he was a great announcer. If I had to describe him and the other great ones in one word it would be fluid. I guess that has a different meaning these days but they just have a flow to what they said where it didn't feel forced or like they were just talking for the sake of it. Their voices perfectly synched with what was happening, and they even made the bad games watchable because they knew how to keep things interesting. al Michaels was great at that. I used to watch all the MNF games even if they were blowouts because I just loved hearing how he described what was going on. Madden was the same for me, although I was never a huge fan of Summerall. But when I see old clips of those thanksgiving games with Madden talking, to me that is football. Or clips of the AFC championship game intros with endberg talking to merlin Olsen, same thing. I miss that stuff the way I miss the old stadiums So many of the announcers now sound like they're TRYING too hard, but maybe that's my age and the kids now will one day be talking about how good Chris Brown was the way we talk about Van Miller...
