Go BOLD - 2024 NFL bold predictions 2024
RobbRiddick replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I want to make predictions about Bears making the playoffs, Cowboys failing to make the playoffs, Eagles being back on form and making the championship game Lions disappointing and falling off this season with lots of close losses. But actually I just feel like: Chiefs 3peat Mahomes wins league MVP Mahomes wins Super Bowl MVP Only team that can stop them is the Bengals (Burrow has an MVP-like season but everyone votes for Mahomes anyway) they lose to Chiefs in the championship game after a controversial call, all non KC fans call fix, shout "what's the point in watching this anymore? It's basically the WWE" -

Receivers the Bills could go after?
RobbRiddick replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Mahomes is great no doubt, but Reid went to 5 NFC champs with a very sub par QB (4 in a row). He also nearly won a super bowl with him against Brady. I hear this a lot about how Reid was a bad coach in Philly. He wasn't. Mahomes is WAY better than McNabb, but I honestly believe if Reid retired tomorrow their grip on the AFC ends. Maybe if they 3peat he will retire. And if I turn out to be wrong I'll hold my hands up and say I'm wrong. This isn't about knocking Mahomes, it's the insane level of praise he gets from the media. I heard one show where they said the chasm that exists between Mahomes' tier and the next one (Burrow and Allen) is wider than the Grand Canyon. It's becoming insane now. Mahomes probably is better than Allen and Burrow, but the gap is nowhere near as wide as everyone says, and the one that does exist would close in a second without Reid. -
Receivers the Bills could go after?
RobbRiddick replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
People call me a Mahomes hater but I maintain the main reason they won last year was Reid. He figured out a way late in the year to scheme those guys open (and Kielce as well who was struggling for a lot of the year). Early in the season Mahomes was having to do too much and play super man (that's what the media guys defending his rough play earlier in the season were saying) and that was the reason he was throwing ints and the Chiefs were losing games. Once Reid figured out what he had KC started winning more consistently again. That Kielce TD in the game against us says it all. The guy was about 10 yards away from the nearest defender. All Mahomes had to do was toss it to him, then he gets all the credit for slaying the Bills again. Obviously their defense helped hugely as well, although in the playoffs the Bills had a lot of success against them. -

The WR room does look very ordinary no doubt. My hope is that Kincaid goes nuclear and takes a huge leap in year 2. We need him to play like an elite TE. If he does that, and if Coleman plays well enough, we could be okay. But I still see it as being inconsistent throughout the season and having the odd week where the offense just splutters all game and never really gets going. That's my best case scenario at this point. One thing is for sure, Josh is going to have to do a lot of improvisation and give some of these guys a chance to get open. If we have more passes to the RBs as well it will help, provided Cook catches them when he's targeted. -
What it’s like to try out for an NFL team
RobbRiddick replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I always wonder with punters, what do they dream about when they imagine being in the NFL? Like QBs will have that recurring dream of leading a game winning drive in the final 2 minutes of a SB. Kickers imagine kicking the winning FG in a SB. WRs imagine making a hail Mary catch in the SB, and so on. I wonder what punters dream about? Pinning the opposing offense at the 1 in the final 2 minutes of a SB? Running a fake punt in the 4th quarter and throwing a TD pass? Holding for the game winning kick? Turning out as successful in retirement as Pat McAfee?? World peace??? What do punters dream about? -

Wow that’s just like watching a replay of one of my dates as a young man. only with better meals -
I remember going to one of Trent Edward's seasons (pretty sure it was him) and the talk was how they were going to run the no huddle with Van Pelt as coordinator (again, I may be misremembering this). But I do remember being very excited (young and stupid) Those were dark days indeed

Hey Buffalo Joe, were you going with that gun in your hand? or are you just pleased to see me?

Preseason week 2 (non Bills related)
RobbRiddick replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
How are you finding KC fans with him? Because I've noticed they're particularly sensitive about any other QBs being labelled as great. every YouTube vid I see talking about Burrow or Allen has so many comments from KC fans saying things like "not as good as Pat". I find it bizarre considering the insane praise he gets -

Yeah, first time I looked at him in college straight away I thought he looked like Mahomes. It's uncanny on those 2 plays. I don't watch college ball but when I saw him I said here I'd be shocked if he wasn't great in the NFL. I still don't understand when people are so adamant he'll be a bust. There seem to be quite a few out there with that opinion -
Yeah I agree. All that stuff is made to attract the same kind of people who thought Jerry Springer was top class entertainment. I've said this many times before but I honestly have no idea how Stephen A Smith is the highest paid guy there. I mean he talks unbelievable levels of *****, seems to know nothing about football other than what he can get from a box score, shouts constantly about anything and everything, yet he seems loved by millions. Unfortunately we now live in a world where the loudest, most outrageous voices are the ones who get the most attention. Maybe it's always been that way, but social media has really distilled it all to the point where the whole planet is drunk. There are exceptions like you say. Patrick is good, I also like Rich Eisen's show, mainly because he breathes between sentences.

The real question is, if we miss the playoffs does McD get ***** canned?

Look on the bright side. Last season for the playoffs we had to bring Klein off the couch. This season (IF we get to the playoffs) we'll be able to bring in Milano. My mom always liked to make lemonade out of lemons. Though ironically she died of scurvy -
f**k life, f**k my family and f**k you Although... if we can get to the playoffs and he's healthy and ready to go, what a weapon to unleash on D. I'm looking at this as though it was a certainty he'd get injured DURING the year and be lost for the season, which of course makes no sense but I'm trying to talk myself off the ledge. I've had worries about this D because of the change at safety, and this has now added to the concern. But we didn't have him for most of last season and the D held up well. I do have faith in their ability to adapt on defense.

I enjoyed hearing Josh talk about what he views as his best throw. That's probably my number 2 throw of his. For me his best is still the one to Foster against the Jags in year 1 -
Well they certainly got their money's worth out of that one. Best move since I invested my life savings into a dog toy business started by Michael Vick Inc back in 2006.
