Did Vontae Davis retire at halftime? Yes, yes he did!
eanyills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that’s why McD was so up front. If Vontae quit on the team, I think they’re going to throw him under the bus. No spin, just put it on Vontae. -

As a guy who goes to great lengths to protect his players, McD’s answers about Vontae speak loudly. I expect him to be cut immediately. -
Josh Gordon to be released-now traded to PATS
eanyills replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The more that I think about this, the more that I’m on board. If Allen’s going to play, let’s get him some kind of legitimate WR talent to learn with this year. Even if it’s short lived barring another Gordon slip. I don’t know how much faith I’m putting in all these rumors. Funny how they were all quiet until it’s announced that Gordon is going to be released. The only one I believe right now is that he’s struggling with keeping his sobriety. That’s probably going to be a lifelong struggle for him but in the Bills position? They have nothing to lose. Bring him in, he either balls for the year or goes the way of Justin Blackmon. Last chance, kid. -
Josh Gordon to be released-now traded to PATS
eanyills replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m a huge Josh Gordon superfan, I have been since his breakout year in Clevo. He’s got elite talent and could have been a top-5 receiver in the league if he could have kept his head on straight. I watched Gordon last year with Kizer and last week with Tyrod. He should have had 3 TD’s last week (one called back on a penalty, one underthrown INT). He’s still got it. I could see the Browns throwing shade on him (with that “not himself” line) if the release is only for the injury/lateness. From a PR standpoint, it makes sense. They did the same thing with Coleman. I can’t imagine this situation is going to help Gordon’s mental health, though. The guy’s on the verge of falling off the tracks and receiving a lifetime ban. I wish him well, wherever he goes. It’s worth the risk for some team but that team isn’t Buffalo. -
Official MNF Thread: Raiders v Rams
eanyills replied to Jauronimo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe so but let’s not pretend that Watkins was a monster on the Rams. He was targeted 4.6 times a game for a total of 39 receptions for 593 yards. He was a decent red zone target, though. Cooks will be fine in LA if that’s the bar he has to clear. -
WR Will be Toughest Position to Fix
eanyills replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So did Cooks. -
But it does matter what your own owner thinks. If your owner is a conservative (and a majority of the owners are old money conservatives), they may simply not sign off on employing Kap. and that’s perfectly legal. When an owner does sign off on Kap, maybe it’s just not a fit, they don’t need a QB, or they don’t want a PR circus. There’s no collusion.

Dez says ‘no thanks.’ He’ll wait for an injury to a contender. McD says ‘no thanks.’ He’s not a process guy, whatever that means at this point.

I don’t want Sully level pessimism but John Murphy isn’t close to objective. I don’t want to listen to everything painted in rose-colored glasses, either. The guy thinks every decision the Bills make is good, every player on the roster has potential, and any sort of negative outcome is just a missed opportunity. No John, sometimes, things are just bad. After 17 years, you should get that.

The Steelers shouldn’t be a surprise. Roelisberger is awful on the road. Seriously, never bet the Steelers away. Browns were an underthrown INT away from winning. They should start Mayfield. The Browns are a wildcard contender with competent QB play. The tide’s turning in this league. I liked most of what I saw from the Browns, Chiefs, Bears. Teams definitely trending in the right direction. Chiefs look like they’ve arrived, Bears look like they should be wildcard competitive, Browns are probably a year away still. I didn’t like what I saw from the Jaguars, Texans, or Titans. Not sure what to make of the Buccaneers and Giants.

What is the first phone call Beane makes today?
eanyills replied to Sky Diver's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m calling on RG3, Hoyer, etc., and seeing if I can get any of them on the cheap. Whether they start or backup Allen, compared to Peterman they’ll look like HOF’ers. -
Exactly. It’s an indictment on Beane/McD if they honestly thought Peterman was a viable option as this team’s starting QB AND if they weren’t trying to lose (which they weren’t evidenced by putting Allen in). The whole situation really puts a dent in my faith of them.

I don’t think our situation is like the Rams at all. Fisher was one of the most abysmal offense coaches of all time but that team had stacked talent at every position on defense. McVay and Snead come in inheriting good players and great depth all across the defense. So Snead has tons of defensive capital to work with and McVay gets to focus almost exclusively on the offense. I also don’t think McD is anywhere near McVay’s class. He is legitimately one of the best coaches in the league.

well TYrod Taylor LEADS the Brown to a tie
eanyills replied to Socal-805's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tyrod straight up blew this game for the Browns. On that final drive INT, that’s a TD if he doesn’t underthrow Josh Gordon. Gordon’s got his guy beat. It’s weird because I don’t remember Taylor underthrowing the deep ball here. It was the only throw he could make! -

Listen, I bet serious money on Clevo to make the playoffs this year but I’m not feeling good about it. Tyrod has been awful today. Cleveland should be winning, seriously. -

I’ll take the under. He’ll be able to throw those out routes all the way down the field once the Ravens go into prevent defense! -

NFL teams don’t tank intentionally. But they’re definitely rebuilding with an emphasis on the long term. While either McD/Beane would publicly say they’re trying to win, I don’t think either truly believes The Bills are a contender. -

Bills vs. Ravens: 1st Half Game Day Thread
eanyills replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t think they expected to make the playoffs last year. This year was always going to be about grooming their franchise QB (whom I also don’t think Allen was their first choice.) And because the team just wasn’t good enough. That’s why. Last year’s team overachieved. -

Whatever happens, I’m not upset with Peterman. Guy’s a fifth rounder. Odds say it’s highly unlikely he would ever be even a competent NFL QB. He should have never been named the starter. -

Bills vs. Ravens: 1st Half Game Day Thread
eanyills replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m not sure why this is a surprise. A majority of fans predicted a losing record, the talk about no pass rush, bad run defense. This is exactly what most of us expected. It’ll average out but this is a middle of the road defense. Are we going to be shocked when Peterman looks bad and the offense struggles too? -
NFL Kickoff/TNF: Falcons at Eagles

Because jumping the opposing team’s mascot, hurling batteries at players, and throwing snowballs at Santa didn’t signify that? Booing is nothing. Who cares about booing?
