Was injured for most of the season, trouble locating the ball downfield and is not great at tackling. Scouting report indicates he will struggle with big receivers. This guy’s not a first rounder. What happened to the big swing with the extra pick. Between his insistence on alienating Cook and this wasted pick, I’m hoping Beane’ stubbornness and the fact he can’t draft defensive backs is his only weakness. Having Elam and Bishop on his resume doesn’t instill confidence.

He might’ve done it last year when Brady mindlessly left him off the field for the last two series. Watch the TD on 4th down by Cook in the fourth quarter and then watch the play calling on the last two series, then you’ll know who to blame for not getting over the hump. Throw the ball to Cooper on a bubble screen and then let a free rusher overwhelm Josh on 4th down so he has to just throw it up for grabs. Cook was fine the whole postseason.

You seem like a good fan and at least appreciate what Cook has given us. He’s already said he’s playing this season. Remember Cook is quiet, humble team guy who is not a me first individual. He’s got a short window to get paid at a position that can go sideways at the drop of a hat. Maybe his agent is desperate for Beane to make a reasonable offer, but I don’t fault him for asking to be resigned.
-
These oblivious Cook detractors will appreciate him when he puts another team over the top after they let him walk or trade him. Sadly they’re getting their cues from our GM who is making a great young talent feel like he is not valued. Beane should just look back on our history of pedestrian RBs that came in with hype and never distinguished themselves. Finally we have a great QB and good O-line, perfect scenario for an explosive back to create real defensive challenges and fans want a rookie or FA journeyman to kill the whole ideology. Oh well, being a Bills fan tests your pain tolerance.

First thing, Barkley is making over 20 million a season and Cook is asking for 15. That doesn’t mean he wouldn’t play for less if Beane offered a bit less. He’s not asking for Barkley money, he could be had for 42 for 3 years. Those backs either were older, headcases( Bell)or washed as their performance nosedived after sitting out. What is this ridiculous idea he’s a 2 down back? He’s had 3 different OCs in his 3 seasons and because we have Ty Johnson( who’s arguably the best 3rd down back in football) he’s been deployed that way. Remember he had over a thousand yds on precious few carries (208) with 16 TDs. He had over 400 yds receiving. He’s a matchup nightmare in the passing game and can take it to the house whenever he touches the ball. He’s only 25 coming into his prime. We can’t replace this guy with an untested rookie and you’ll see him be better this year and be worth more. Relax, he skipped a voluntary OTA. Josh should be demanding they make more of an effort to sign him after Beane signed those PED lineman, Rousseau, Bernard , Bosa and a Corner that is a concussion away from being forced out of football.
-
Don’t lump in dumpster diving pedestrian journeyman in comparison to Cook. He had over a thousand yards in 200 carries and scored 16 touchdowns. With one of the premier 3rd down backs in Johnson and the fact that Brady may have killed us against KC by not playing Cook the last two series, be careful what you wish for. Josh should be actively pushing for Beane to negotiate with this guy. Remember RBs have 6 year careers if they’re great. By signing Rousseau, who stinks in the postseason and dishing out big money to PED guys for 11 game seasons, what should arguably the best back in the AFC do at 25 years old.

Return of the Tre! (Tre White signs with the Bills)
HamptonBillsfan replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Great signing, Tre is 2 years removed from his surgery and looked healthy in the playoffs with the Ravens. We need an experienced CB and he’ll be a leader on the defense with his Bills background. I think he has plenty left. With a quality 2nd or 3rd rd. CB, and a penetrating DT that will be an anchor for our D-line all of a sudden we have filled all of our defensive needs. -
I understand but his priorities are misplaced. Rousseau was invisible in the postseason, Benford got 2 rapid fire concussions, which should make him risky to resign. Bernard was necessary because Milano is gone after the season and Bernard calls signals and is really good. If you were being objective, Cook makes our offense special. He’s got to get a 2nd contract.
-
I don’t think Beane prioritized Cook knowing he’s on his rookie deal. He was more concerned with Rousseau, our corner,Bernard and those D-linemen who won’t play until week 7. If Cook wanted 15 million, we could have gotten him for 42 for 3yrs guaranteed.
-
People who don’t want to pay RBs sometimes diminish great players thinking they’re replaceable. Give me the back we’ve drafted since Thurman that is on Cook’s level. We draft late and don’t usually take RBs until late 2nd or 3rd. You must admit Cook would make a bunch of teams ( KC, Cinn, Houston) very dangerous.
-
As a rule it’s ill conceived because it should be case specific. After overpaying for Rousseau,Bosa, and adding a lower tier wideout, the 2nd best weapon for Josh in his MVP year is stiffed. Beane, right now can resign Cook for 40 to 42 for 3 years with 30 guaranteed. He’s the best back in the AFC. If Cook has a better year and we go to the SB, some team will pay him Barkley money thinking he puts them over the top.

I wasn’t referring to receiving but McCaffrey was used more in the pass game on the crappy last place Panthers. They had minimal offensive talent. The down side is that in years 4 and 5 he was either hurt or unproductive. His numbers reflect how injury prone he is. Bills competed for Championships with great receivers in Cooks career. McCaffrey is 28 coming off another injury riddled year. Do you think he’s worth 19 million and Cook at 25 isn’t worth a second contract for 13 or 14.
-
Impressive analysis, sadly if the consensus amongst GMs is RBs are limited to rookie contracts, the Cooks of the world will invariably end up coming back to haunt the teams that drafted them.
-
We were comparing the first three seasons, because Cook is only in the league 3 seasons.
-
Do you think there’s a preconceived bias against RBs getting a second contract, or are these knee jerk disparaging claims a reaction to him wanting to get paid in an environment of everyone else being prioritized. My prediction is he has a great year and walks because other teams will see him putting over the top. I’m a little disappointed in Josh, after getting paid, not endorsing the 2nd contract for Cook. He knows what Cook meant to that offense.
-
You can’t just gag up wild stats out of your rear end and expect them to fly. He had under 3000 yds and 24 TDs in his first 3 years and in years 4 and 5 under 700 yds total with 6 TDs. Sorry, look it up.

You’re pretty adamant about who’s elite. Do you think McCaffrey or Barkley are elite? If you compare their first 3years,,Cook is more productive and more available. He is a beast in the red zone scoring 16 TDs. He’s better than Barkley in the receiving game and he is 3 years younger than both Barkley and McCaffrey. He’s done everything asked of him and who says he has to be on the field on 3rd down when we have the best 3rd down back in football in Ty Johnson. Cook gets it done with a minimum amount of carries. Cook can’t be responsible for Brady’s mindless decisions not to put him in on our last few series against KC. Look at that TD he scored on 4th down against KC. That was elite. Just remember his request for 15 million starts a negotiation and if Beane decided to resign him now he probably could get him for 42 or 43 for 3 years. I hear a lot of “not being elite”, but he’s as good as anybody in the AFC and gets better every year. Henry is great but disappeared when it counted most. You talk about blocking, Josh got sacked 8 times all year and was the MVP. Cook is a matchup nightmare out of the backfield and had over 400 yds receiving. With Barkley’s deal great backs will be getting more than in previous years, no one knows the rookie that we craft will be as productive or injury free as Cook. God forbid he Chiefs or Bengals get him.

AFC Championship Game- How do you feel now about it?
HamptonBillsfan replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
More importantly, if you’re not admitting the ball placement was botched, why are they announcing changes to the way they handle determining line to gain plays shortly after the AFC Championship game? Other than silly name calling nonsense what is your point? These gotcha interactions take away from the quality of the discourse especially when trolls are involved -
Ty Johnson is the modern day Fred Jackson
HamptonBillsfan replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
The only thing you’re missing is. TJ has never been a featured back. He’s been an overachieving special teams guy and a 3rd down back. Minimal carries and receptions have kept him healthy and productive. He’s a change of pace back not a bell cow. He’s awesome at how we’ve deployed him but to shoehorn him into a run heavy offense is a crapshoot. Let’s see what Cook does in his walk year or offer him 40 for 3 years. With a nice signing bonus he won’t even hurt the cap that much. Remember Cook is only getting better and he probably will have more workload now with Brady being in his second year and knowing how talented he is. -
Cleveland Browns building a new dome stadium

“Old-man-yells-at-clouds-tantrum “ is that a special secret language with a secret handshake type of thing. First you trot out some silly little video with an imbecil giving his personal take on retractable domes. Have you ever even been in a stadium with a retractable dome? When you speak for the board does that make you feel relevant.? Glad I could help you find some self esteem. -

Rather than ask about snow games you should proudly tell us that Buffalo had 92”of snowfall this winter and statistically is the snowiest NFL city with 20 snow days during the season. When long term planning is done for a 2 billion dollar project, it’s what could happen. Taxpayers are on the hook 850 million, and the overruns are on the Bills that they’ll finance over a period of years. Buffalo fans will absorb upgraded prices across the board to help with the debt service.I’m not saying that fans and corporate investors are consulted generally but if the prevailing sentiment is for a dome, the Bills should reward loyal fans, who have been stiffed for 40 years with an outdated stadium, with a state of the art NFL experience. -

No they have translucent roofs and open sides that in Vegas are retractable . But their Stadiums are protected from the elements that make January games in Buffalo uncomfortable and not as enjoyable to watch if it snows. Tell me watching a game at SOFI or Vegas isn’t a great watch.
