I expect that if more players from overseas were given opportunities, there might be some pushback. Ultimately football is an American sport which isn't played in schools outside of the US and Canada. I played it in University in England but it was incredibly amateurish. My knee was sliced open by a jagged piece of metal on a lineman's facemask. The guys who make it from overseas like the Panthers Efe Obada, tend to be supreme athletes who get a Longshot chance through physical traits and look to learn on the job. Because they are few in number, have such a relatively small chance of sticking, and the teams don't want to use roster spaces I think they came to this compromise. I think if it leads to a player or player breaking through and having a genuine impact, or if one day the NFL do expand to Europe they may think about changing it.

What irks me about this comparison is that it's easy to praise a good team. It's like when you ask people what team they support in any sport and more often than not they tell you the perennial winners or contenders They have no attachment to that team except that they want to be associated with their success. I like Lynn. He's brought a long awaited improvement in that franchise. But he hasn't even won the division yet. And time is ticking on their window...

It just depends where you're standing. In the end only one team wins the SB. Everyone else is a loser. I'm not arguing that the box scores don't look better for Lynn. I'm saying that what they had to work with was very different so it is an uneven comparison. Yes the Bills got blown out multiple times by the Pats, moreso obviously because they're in the same division. The Bills are building an offensive identity from scratch. Once a team gets a lead on them McD had no choice but to try and get back in the game and without weapons this leads to blowouts by playing into opponents hands. Would you advocate them just closing up shop and taking a narrow uncontested loss? Is that better? However you stack it the final outcome has been the same. Both teams lost and neither came close. They've both made the playoffs once but LAC won one more playoff game. The difference is one team was expected to contend and the other was predicted to be among the worst in the league.

They went 5-11 with that roster and rightly their HC got fired They had been underachievers for a long time. Question is, if they with a really good roster win one playoff game in two years does that mean Lynn is doing an awesome job? Or merely that he did better than his predecessor? You're entitled to that opinion of course He's been to the playoffs the same number of times as McD His W/L is better. His team has looked complete on the field because he inherited a really good roster Do you see the distinction? Chargers haven't won more Superbowls, been in more Superbowls, won more division championships, or been in more division championships than the Bills. They've looked better, won one extra playoff game and been a popular pick.

Anyone 'could' get fired for all manner of reasons. With Lynn its probably unlikely I agree with you What you say is true. Lynn has had 2 winning seasons unlike McD. But only made the playoffs once. Same as McD as far as that goes. Compare what they have both had to work with. If you accept that Lynn inherited a HOF QB had the most dominant pass rushing duo in the NFL, a stacked receiving corps a solid run game and drafted Derwin James, shouldn't expectations be a little higher for him? It is interesting to me that the popular perception is that he's done so much better than McD.

True and I don't want to say that these guys are bad players. But equally the same applies in the opposite direction. They aren't epic Julio Jones -type game changers, who were 'ruined' by being Bills selections. They were good players who didn't fit the Bills scheme, and even at another team would probably have been overdrafted at the draft positions they were taken. Does that make them terrible picks? The best argument against that is Gilmore who had a successful move to NE but even then I don't have him as anywhere near the best CB in the league as the hype that surrounds him would suggest. You'll never convince me that Sammy was worth his position in that draft although i won't argue that hes an above average receiver.

it’s relevant to Josh Allen because this is the same QB guru (Jordan Palmer) who has been working with both Allen’s and Darnold at their camp and for that matter Tyree Jackson too. Unlike Darnold and JAllen, KAllen attended panthers rookie camp and his accuracy was noticeably improved. It is my hope that we see the same improvement from Josh. Perhaps it’s a tenuous link but news is slow in the off-season and I thought it might be of interest.

There’s a thread on a Carolina forum I follow that talks about how much better Kyle Allen looks than at training camp last year. Who’s is Kyle Allen? He attended training camp with Sam Darnold, Josh Allen and Jordan Palmer. First and foremost as a football fan I’m really excited and hopeful that these young guys can all show improvement into year 2. Alas, realistically there is an excellent chance that Kyle Allen won’t make Carolinas 53 with the drafting of Grier.

Loaded? Hmmm. I like Brown, Beasley, Foster, Zay. I’m glad Foster gets a chance to show he can be a starter without being marginalized by incoming rookies. He deserved that. He needs a full season of production to fully breakthrough. I struggle to see how both Zay and Cole can succeed. Brown has had good years and bad years. I genuinely like these guys way more than last years group. But some of these receivers coming out are going to be really good.

I have never understood how people can become so incensed by mock drafts. They are intended to give non-draftniks insight into an upcoming class. That is all. Not definitive just a snapshot. I really don’t see the downside of that. Why get so offended. The first thing I would say is- and I’ve seen TDN say it many times. Next year the OL is supposed to be very thin. But I’m seeing a lot of OL in their projected first round-which surprised me. The other thing is that there are at least 3 really good WRs next year. I had heard that-I know that Jeudy of Alabama will go high and the Clemson guys probably. This is something for Bills fans to watch in light of their lack of investment this year. I also love the RB Etienne from Clemson. I like him waaaaay more than Jacobs.

Judging by what Robert Foster did last year and Daboll's familiarity with Alabama players I wonder if there will be any red star players coming from that school drafted by the Bills. If it weren't for the huge influx of OL in FA Ross Pierbacher might be a possibility. Another might be Christian Miller. Back at senior bowl DeMarkus Lodge was thought of as second round but hes dropped out of the top 4 rounds in most mocks now. I think that based on his college career hes very likely to be a red star. The safeties in round 2 are deep. some of those will be underdrafted and turn out to be great value. Bobby Evans three year starter at OT for Oklahoma? Hes getting less hype than Tytus Howard. He'd be a bargain in the 3rd.
