  1. I was going to point out one or two, but don't want to jynx us.
  2. I disagree with you buddy, and I like your posts in general. Favre, Young, McNabb, Rogers and others benefited from sitting. So will Allen. AJM will be aok this year.
  3. And even at RB with an NFL pedigree it took him a year to settle in. McCaffery looked great, very poised. Moore is one of those rare year 1 producers. He looked terrific, but it was against 2nd and third tier guys. I see 40-500-3 from Moore this year. That is a good rookie season in an established offense. All three of our QBs had moments. It was good to see. Daboll will be the best offseason addition on offense by year end. I think he will be ready to rock and roll regardless of his QB.
  4. this is who we are dealing with.... I remain optimistic.
  5. Davis Jr is broke. That is why he moved the Raiders to Las Vegas. $$$ The fact that the NFL moved into Las Vegas is terrible, and a mixed signal. Better to not have a holdout situation and get a 1st round pick for Mack. Buffalo is there with the cap and love.
  6. We disagree. The OL looks good, I hope they can run block. OL 2 did well in that regard. OL1 meh. I'm far more worried about our DB depth.
  7. Nice comparison. I'd like to add others, but have elsewhere. (Favre, Young etc)
  8. OK, let's talk. Are Taiwan Jones or T Cadet better? They are both vets on vet contracts. Are they better than Gilislee? Gilislee is one of the best one cut RBs in the league. He is not fancy, but is effective. Great depth. Gilislee knocks out Jones and Cadet in one fell swoop. Now RB1 is McCoy, RB2 is Gilislee, RB3 is Ivory, RB4 is Murphy. I'll take that RB room any day. I like Murphy a lot, I think he has real potential as a RB3 or RB4. But Gilisee is a better known performer and a better RB2 than Ivory at this point, and I like Ivory as a player. As for Dorestt, how much is his contract if cut? He has speed, did well with a healthy Luck. I think Dorsett is a late cut/ add to be a WR5 WR6 or so and adds speed to a weak deep speed WR corps. That helps Allen and McCarron. This is exactly why a Phillip Dorsett type guy fits in, IMO. Exactly the point. Colman (broken hands) and Dorestt (underwhelming after Luck) are both long shots. But let's have some competition if available. Allen needs a deep threat, so did Tyrod to be fair.
  9. great post, I agree 100% with you. The issue is that our 3 QBs are very different and need different types of WRs and TE's to be successful. Peterman is a quick strike guy. He needs a guy open in tight spaces. KB and Kerley do that well. Z Jones is supposed to be that guy. Clay is good, but Croom and Lee have done well here too. Reilly fits here. AJM is a middle of the road guy. Needs a balanced approach. KB, Clay, Kerley, Reilly are good fits as possession WR. Maybe he can get Coleman open deep. At TE Clay is solid here, as is O'Leary and Thomas who blocked like a mad man last game. Allen needs a burner. A Goodwin type burner. Coleman, Streater, Dupre, Foster all become more important. Clay is still TE1, but Croom and maybe Lee fit in more here. Pass attack first with Allen. The cuts will be interesting this year at WR and TE. Croom and Lee made big catches, and Thomas was a blocking machine. Ray Ray looked amazing. Dupre and Proehl looked bad in PG1. I don't think the cupboard is bare, I think WR and TE need to be paired down to the type of offense Daboll wants to run with a known QB.
  10. I get your point, and agree with you. But I think the O-line 1 and OL 2 aquitted themselves admirably in the last game. Allen was behind the 3's which was bad. Put Allen behind the 1's or 2's and I think it's ok. Bodine, Teller and Ike are no bums. With KB, Jones, Kerley, Reilly, Holmes this team has a lot of possession WRs. They need a burner to match the arm. I'm still hopeful one will merge from Coleman, Streater, Foster or Dupre. Ray Ray is in a class of his own. After PG1 I love this kid.
  11. Phillip Dorsett, been banging the drum for a while. Not a lock to make the NE roster. Would be over the moon if Gilislee or Dorestt become FA's and Buffalo scooped them up.
  12. How does Coleman track down the deep throws Foster gave up on? I give Foster credit, he caught Allen's bad first deep throw. Allen had an incomplete on his first throw, but it was caught. The other two misses were all Foster. He needs to lay out in PG2 and PG3 to make the team. I still think Foster has some magic in him. Now he knows Allen's gun, and he will be called on deep. Where was Dupre? At least Foster got open deep. What did Dupre do? (PS I'm a Dupre fan) The deep balls are why a lot of Bills fans want to see Allen with the 1's. Would KB, Coleman, Jones, Kerley be able to provide enough pop to match Allen's arm? Ray Ray and even still Foster are my dark horses in the preseason WR scramble. Ray Ray opened my eyes in PG1. If I'm Taiwan Jones, T Cadet or ar WR I'm looking at Ray Ray. His ST ability, and willingness to catch an Allen bullet, puts Ray Ray in the lead.
  13. You are getting more sarcastic with age. I like it. Allen has the best arm in a Bills uniform since Lamonica. Let's hope it turns out better for us this time Surround Allen with Brown and Bell a year or two from now. Can you see it?
  14. You don't seem to ever bring up his scrambling ability which I think yielded one or two first downs and a YPC well over 5 YPC. Better than Murphy, our best RB in PG1, or that some tier 3 WRs gave up on deep plays. He also stepped up in many cr@p pockets to deliver. Even off his back foot the pass to Lee was pretty special. (good job Lee btw) Let the receiver fight for the ball. I love me some Josh Allen, let him sit and stew a bit. it was good for Favre, Young etc. I mentioned Allen reminded me of Favre a long time ago on this board and got roasted for it. Bad college completion % but a gunslinger and elusive. I was wrong, Allen is a mix of Favre (arm), Young (elusiveness) and Roethlisberger (size) without the rapey bits. Allen will be the future of the Bills, and the future looks bright. I can sit and wait a season or so before it happens. This FO is smart enough and patient enough to realize this. McNabb, Young, Favre, Rogers all had to sit and learn. AJM will be a 6-10 to 9-7 QB, and allow Allen to earn it. Not sure what to make of Peterman. In the long run he is our QB3. Alex Van Pelt brain, but weak arm. Can come in as QB3 and do some things as long as Daboll can adjust. From Pre-season game 1 Daboll can have 2-3 game plans in a single game. Looking at the BCS championship, Daboll can switch QBs on the fly, and give them a live action game plan to succeed. 17 points in Q1 and Q2 against a stout Carolina D shows this. I'd be surprised if Buffalo doesn't average 24-28 ppg this year regardless of who is QB. If Allen sits the future is even brighter.
  15. I was also excited by the post especially since it came after the Coleman deal, and was hoping for the stars. Who knows what could happen? I was very happy with the first and some of the 2nd string in the Carolina game. I was very impressed with Daboll. It was like he had three game plans for three different QBs, and it mostly worked. Up tempo quick pass game with Peterman, balanced attack with AJ. Deep shots, runs and passes in tight windows for Allen. It was a more diverse attack than even in the Marchibroda era. Daboll game planned three different offensive attacks for three different QBs in preseason Game one. What does he do with a known starter at QB, Shady McCoy and a week to prepare? It's hard to believe the Bills are only in year two of a full rebuild. I'm not sure I've never seen a Bills team do so well in a full tear down and rebuild. I think it's important for us to keep perspective. In neither y1 or yr 2 did the Bills have much cap room. Some if it was self inflicted. This team dealt or let walk away its starting DT, WR1, WR2, WR3, CB1, FS, SS, and a highly drafted LB in year one and still made a playoff run with a rookie HC and new DC. McDermott and Frazier largely looked up to the challenge in year one. If it weren't for McVay, McDermott should have been the rookie HC of the year. McDermott did more with less than McVay. Hyde, Poyer, Matthews and Gaines were solid vets but hardly highly pursued. Tre White was one of the best draft picks by the Bills in the last 10 years. This team then made a move mid-season to get KB and Clay when Matthews didn't work out, neither move cost the Bills much. Even though Gaines and Matthews are gone, and Clay has been on and off the team so many times, I can't count it, this Front Office makes moves and acknowledges mistakes, giving hope to a post like Astro's. In year two they brought in Daboll, a very successful OC in the NFL and DI. He has more rings than the Godfather. They dealt away or handled the unplanned retirement of the starting QB, LT, LG and C. They acquired veteran starters in Bodine and Newhouse through mid level FA to pivot and address the O-line. Groy and Miller were waiting in the wings (thank you Whaley) Realizing the mistake and three game defensive debacle after dealing away Dareus they brought in Star L and Murphy to bolster the D-line. A low level FA brought in AJM to compete for QB. Would you rather have Matt Cassell or AJM as the wild card 'vet' presence? I'll take AJM all day every day. The Bills draft brought in potential franchise QB Allen, who does not have to start right away, MLB' hit or miss' prospect Edmunds, Horrible Harry who may end up being the value pick of the draft, Teller to push Ducasse and Miller, and 'Swiss army knife' Ray Ray McCloud. I think Daboll, Star L, Allen, Phillips and Teller end up being the story lines of this off this off season in retrospect. The reason the Astro message got me hyped was because we have not seen his FO (GM, HC, OC and DC) deal with a nearly full compliment of draft picks and emerging cap space before. The Bills are projected to have the second highest cap space next year (70-80 million) and $0 in dead cap money. It's also rare for a 'hold out star player' to have such strong Buffalo ties as Mack. This FO rivals Polian, Levy, Marchibroda and Cottrell, and pushes the 60's AFL Champion teams. From a coaching perspective it may be better. We have the high level pieces in place. I'm excited by the prospects for the future. The roster is still a bit weak compared to other playoff teams especially in depth, but I think the Bills finally have a coaching edge. Coaching and a plan can do wonders for a less than stellar roster. The Giants, Pats, Ravens and Bucs all won Super Bowls with less than stellar rosters in the modern era. I hope there is one more 'big splash', but if there isn't I'll still be excited by this team and what it is building. 6-10 to 8-8 is a real possibility, but with this coaching staff and a GM who is willing to make in season moves, 9-7 or 10-6 is a real possibility. Circle The Wagons!
  16. Scrambled well when he had to. Was it 1 or 2 first downs he scrambled for, before taking 50+ yard shots that out paced his WR's??? J Allen is special. Imagine a QB that can chuck it off his back foot 50+ yards on any play, or scramble for 5-10. That is Josh Allen. J Allen had a higher YPC average than even Murphy. Murphey was at 5.0 ypc last game, and looked amazing. J Allen was even better rushing YPC, and can throw it 50-60+ on any play. Something to think about.
  17. hmmm, where Trump stumped R won. Of course this isn't covered. 5-5 or 6-6 I get tired of winning, but I love it. Best employment EVER among black America, check. Best employment EVER among hispanics, check. Fake wage gap among women and men closing, even that is a check. Trump is the worst racist and misogynist ever.... check. Polls showed it. Even better, in districts where registered dems out weighed registered Rep's 2:1 they lost. 2018 and 2020 will be long years for the current Dems with 0 policy, 0 immigration etc....
  18. The Cannonball Run everyone focuses on his arm, but he is a good scrambler. Showed it in college and last night.
  19. So jealous. Beats Ihob all day. Anyone else have the 'Warrior Burger' at Joandy's Place in Basom, NY? (next to Two Eagles Smoke shop on the res). It's a big fat burger sandwiched between two grilled cheese sandwiches that serve as 'the bun'.... Colostomy recommended.
  20. I'll have to rewatch that play, good eye. I agree Humber is depth, he is a hit and miss guy, just wanted to point out it wasn't all bad.
  21. I thought Allen (TE) had a great catch and Croom hauled in a big catch too. The young WRs didn't do much to help Allen last night other than Ray Ray, but the young TE's made some big catches. Where were Dupre, Coleman and Proehl? I wonder if Coleman tracks down any of the deep passes Allen was slinging out there. Humber had a good shoe string Tackle and a good bull rush to hurry a pass Lawson had a good night too, one or two pass deflections at the line. entire second string O-line looked solid. Teller, Ike and Bodine impressed. Old WR's did some nice work, I eat my crow, for now. third string O-line and DB depth was bad. Some concern at LB. Ford looked lost IMO.
  22. Outstanding post. I would like to mention Humber did have a shoe string tackle that may have saved a TD on a play Carolina spring. I believe the next play he had a terrific bull rush that forced a quick throw. The LBs in general played below par.
  23. I'd even try Teller and Miller with Ducasse as Reserve in the pre-season. The second unit looked better than the first in run blocking, and almost as good as the first in PB after the first sack. Maybe that was the opponent, number of opportunities or the fact Murphy seems on a mission to provide young legs to an ageing RB corps, but I've been banging the drum that the O-line is not the desperate mess some believed it to be. The tird unit was pretty bad but Ike B seemed to stand out well in run blocking.
