Colts OT signs with packers...what?!?
ngbills replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly - seems incredibly odd. Even if a rule this year makes no sense. Start a guy and another team can still take him? -
I was about 80% joking in bringing this up. However, he did have 3 TD's in the playoffs - last year. Not 10 years ago. Clearly he is not "needed" but having him on a 1st and goal at the 1 pound it in. Or on a 3rd/4th and a couple as a decoy/RPO type play to pull guys to the line on just a single big play. Could be a help if we have room for a guy that may only have a handful of snaps with one very important one.

Next Season - Potential Coordinators

No I sure am. But nobody is perfect...a bad OC hire would suck. I trust them to try and find the right guy, though. Just could not work out. -

I will admit I dont understand this years practice squad rules. But he was just on the game roster... How is able to be signed by another team? I get it if he was just on the practice squad but he was obviously elevated to the active roster. Seems weird this can even be done. And if so, how he can also play next week and not have joined the team yet due to the COVID waiting period? -

Who knows what this front 7 looks like next year. Maybe we are better suited for a 3-4 anyway. Not sure how McD would feel about that. -

Well Houston has already talked with Lewis, Caldwell, and Crennel. So think there is more to it. Lions have talked to Bowles... Would not be shocked to see Houston hire him. -

I tend to agree; But still it is hard to forget Rick Dennison and Nathan Peterman. Daboll goes I do have concern at what direction they go. Much less concern on the D side of things. -

Babich is the internal guy with the most experience. I also would be shocked at a Wade or Patricia type, but on the other hand Frazier was a guy with HC and DC experience. -

Good call on O'Brien. Could see him being looked at as OC or possibly in a consultant role if they give the OC job to Dorsey/Hall. -
For the sake of having another topic to discuss...Assume Daboll and Frazier both get new jobs. Who are top candidates for OC and DC? Initial ideas? OC Dorsey - Internal Hall - Internal Shula - McD connection Pederson - McD connection McCoy Gailey DC E Washington - Internal Babich - Internal Butler - Internal Wilks - McD connection Patricia W Phillips G Edwards D Quinn Capers

No analysis - just memory recall. It seems like a lot of TE's get open finding holes in our zone or when defenders are switching in coverage. This is likely play design when OC's look at our pass coverage and can identify holes. A lot seem to come on blitzes as the QB has enough time to still get the ball out and TE's tend to be the hot read.

I think the Bills and Ravens are the two best teams in the league the past 2 months. We all follow the Bills so know what they have been doing. Most only casually see or hear what the Ravens have been up to. It is important to not get caught up on the early season issues. Lets take a look: Held 6 out of last 7 under 20 points. Last 4 games held opponents under 300 yards of offense; Only did this twice in first 13 games. Only 1 TD given up in 1 first quarter and 3 first half TD's given up in last 5 games of season. 4 of last 5 regular season wins were by double digits. Offense has rushed for over 200 in 5 of last 6. Only did this twice in first 11 games. It is going to be a tough game. The key is jumping out and taking a lead. Dont let BAL lean on its D and running game by giving up early points. I dont think either team will turn the ball over. Going to be a tough. Much tougher than Pit would have been.

How Good or Bad was our Defense,Really?
ngbills replied to Buffaloflash's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We were not good. No pressure on rivers. Gave up way too many big plays. Could not hold on 3rd downs. Not a single 3 and out. Indy drops were huge. Bad decisions by Reich. We were outplayed in most categories. But we won because we have an O that score thankfully. -
We simply looked more human. Like the 6-2 team that started the season. The one that many would say gets to the playoffs and hopefully wins a game or two. Made mistakes and gave up big plays. Didn’t stop 3d downs. Could convert our own 3rd downs. Worked hard to the move the ball. We just didn’t look like the team from the last 6 weeks that completely dominated teams. That looked like a super bowl favorite. That would score if the drive started at the 2 or the 40. That beat the other team up and looked loose. With a win in the books my bet is we get our swagger back. No more have not won a playoff game yet. Playing with house money and can play free.
