AFCE predictions and thoughts '24
Desert Bills Fan replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am guessing 9 wins, no playoffs 😢 offense starts slow this year with need to get identity and receivers & line need to gel. D is weaker and needs the safeties to get healthy and gel. Last 1/3 rd of the season the Bills find new rhythm and look strong, but man they have a tough schedule. -
ESPN has an updated one: https://www.espn.com/nfl/team/depth/_/name/buf

Now that the waived players are known, and no trades into the 53 have happened, do our wise board members have an educated guess at an updated depth chart? I realize nothing official yet…

WR Jalen Virgil Also returns kicks! https://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/32729588

For the WRs: are Samuel, Coleman, Shakir, Hollins, MVS as good as Diggs, Davis, Shakir, Sheffield, Harty I think Coleman, Shakir, Hollins, MVS are as good. But Diggs > Samuel. So unless Kincaid steps up to create success in the WR type role, Josh is gonna have a tough time equaling last years success.

I thought we would be seeing them today?

Curtis Samuel Turf Toe, Other Injury Updates
Desert Bills Fan replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
A sprain is a stretching or tearing of ligaments — the tough bands of fibrous tissue that connect two bones together in your joints. Initial treatment includes rest, ice, compression and elevation. Severe sprains sometimes require surgery to repair torn ligaments. The difference between a sprain and a strain is that a sprain injures the ligaments or bands of tissue that connect two bones together, while a strain involves an injury to a muscle or to the band of tissue that attaches a muscle to a bone. I severely sprained an ankle once , the doctor said “broken bones heal faster than this kind of ligament sprain” it took months to get mostly better..but running and cutting would occasionally have me hobbling for a day or 2 for what had to be 9 months… -
Brandon Aiyuk and CeeDee Lamb are not satisfied with contract offers, so there is still a chance. Rework Josh’s contract again to get some more cap space? is there a chance at the: Lions Jameson Williams? Rams Tutu Atwell? Chargers Quentin Johnston? Raiders DaVonte Adam’s? others?

the OL, DL TE LB CB and RB groups look good and deep. in the modern NFL, seems the top teams have talented WR’s to put up points. i dunno - can the TEs and RBs carry the O with JA throwing and big blocking WRs? It would be a different look offense…slow, power game…sometimes necessity breeds innovation -

I got Domenic’s autograph at a wrestling event at Leisure Land on Camp Road, in Hamburg, back in the 70’s. I guess that makes one of the old folks! 😂

Most admired NFL players of all time
Desert Bills Fan replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Doing this reminded me of another hero from the 716. Not an NFL player, A friend from my high school, Rob Funk. A Carnegie Hero’s medal recipient. Robert M. Funk Springville, NY Robert M. Funk died attempting to save persons from drowning, Port Colborne, Ontario, July 4, 1990. Wind and wave conditions, rougher than usual, combined to create a very strong undertow that threatened swimmers in Lake Erie, including a woman, 27, and a man, 32, who had taken a small dinghy into the water. They were separated from the dinghy and carried out by the undertow. Among those who responded to cries for help was Funk, 25, college student, who was on the beach with members of his family. Funk and three of his brothers immediately entered the water and began to swim toward victims of the undertow, as did others, including two men who rescued the woman with use of their raft. Arriving firefighters ran into difficulty as they attempted rescue activity; one of the firefighters drowned, as did the man who had been with the dinghy. Last seen en route to the victims, Funk submerged and drowned; he was recovered from the lake two days later. 😢 -
Needed to give myself an upbeat turn after that loathsome list. my most admired: Jack Kemp 🇺🇸 Walter Payton

Predictions and more. Pretty good preview video.
Desert Bills Fan replied to billsbackto81's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think Josh Allen gets this team to 10 -6. in the playoffs again. will be interesting to see, if by the end of the season we have new stars, that can take us far into the playoffs, or just a bunch of hard worker/solid players that get beat by the star players on other teams. -
What pops into my mind, is how much time coaches will have to spend on this guy just to get him up to the bare minimum of being able to play the position. kind of like getting a rugby star and trying to teach him to play running back. A lot of effort for a very small chance of return. would rather see a USFL or CFL “find”…

Looking at the roster, the schedule, etc. The team needs to win early and often. Realistically with all the new WR’s & newish coordinator - I don’t see the offense carrying the team early. It may take a while to find the right pieces and to evolve an identity. I can see lots of 2 TE sets, passing in the middle, running the ball and grinding it out - while missing on long shots down the field (timing, familiarity, scheme fit). the defense will need to be ahead of the O and keep points off the board! After 6 or so games, things should start clicking on O and by then we are in the tough parts of the schedule and need that to stay in the playoff hunt. if Von looks the same, Milano is still recovering form, the safeties are meh, etc it will be a bad start, and in a hole by mid season. Needing Josh to go hero mode to save the season again. He will be banged up come end of the schedule, playoffs. what do you guys think about the start of season defense?

I think Hamlin loses out this year. and based on 2 special teams gaffes from last year: a successful fake punt - pass to his side that he blew coverage on. and the Bills fake punt that he looked surprised on- and ran it nowhere, i think I’ve seen enough. a great sympathy / comeback story. But he’s just not good enough.

TSW 2.0 Poll - Who should the Bills draft at 41?
Desert Bills Fan replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
As was noted - dropping back to 40 is risky but adding a 3rd rounder should be the reward. Legette and Sweat would probably both be there at 40 and I would pick one and then trade up using next years extra second to try to get the other too!
