Brandon Beane press conference 12/31
One Buffalo replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My view has been to withhold all judgement on McBeane until 2019... and here we are! The events of the next 12 months will tell the tale... 12 months from now we will either be in the playoffs or we will be on the list of teams who are considering firing and starting over. My expectation is that we have the foundations in place for long term sustained success. I agree with Beane's draft comments, with a long term view- you will always be better off drafting with a priority on BPA and not need. That doesn't disregard need... but it means when it is time to pick they should select from a handful of the top players available on their chart with need as a secondary factor. -
Kyle Williams: Officially Retires
One Buffalo replied to Clemfield2622's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kyle.... thank you for a great career! The touchdown last year was one of the greatest Bills moments in recent memory! http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-films-sound-efx/0ap3000000902630/Sound-FX-Kyle-Williams-TD-run-catches-teammates-off-guard -

I don't watch it or particularly care, but it is nice to see players recognized. -
Would have thought we would have at least one? http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001001792/article/nfl-reveals-rosters-for-2019-pro-bowl-in-orlando?campaign=Twitter_atn Although Carucci report Kyle is 1st Alternate-

Fair enough... but my only point in this is that KB's inadequacy is a factor in all of this. There are many factors, and I don't really care for simple narratives or blanket statements. Allen for sure has struggled with inaccuracy at points, but I don't think it is fair to label him as incredibly inaccurate (like some have). He has thrown an increasing number of great throws. By nature, he is going to always have a lower completion percentage, if his style (and the play calls) is primarily pushing the ball down field with longer throws. But if you couple that with WR's who are better at separation, making contested catches, and catching the "catchable" balls that this year have been incomplete, we will see some incredible things in the years to come. I would much rather have Allen's style of play than Captain Checkdown/ high percentage stats.

Have to say I agree with Brady Quinn- https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/making-a-case-for-josh-allen-as-the-nfls-best-rookie-quarterback-over-baker-mayfield-lamar-jackson/

We live in a world of micro-analysis. We like to pick things apart down to the finer details and then make general conclusions. But while there is value in looking at every throw, it isn't necessarily a good measure. Josh is a rookie, and he is going to make bad throws... lots of them. But so did every other rookie QB before him. He will continue to learn and develop. McBeane will add more complementary pieces, and we will see more progression as Josh grows with the team being built around him. He has shown enough flash and ability to make throws that few can make to warrant expectation of a bright future. Picking apart every throw is good for him to do with coaches, to learn from. But for me, I just need to see him progressing and trending upwards... which he is.

Big Picture: I am optimistic
One Buffalo replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree, I too am very optimistic going forward. And as frustrating as these last couple weeks have been, I would much rather have Allen learn these tough lessons this year. He will be better for it later. I expect that next year's team will look remarkably different, and in theory should have improvements in key areas such as OL and WR. -
I am starting Allen in my playoff game this week, never would have guessed that I would be doing so. But his play has warranted it, and I decided I would hate myself if I didn't play him and he has another big game. I am the lowest seed playing the top seed (league has no bye) so I need a boost from somewhere!

I am drunk on the kool-aid... starting Josh Allen in my fantasy playoffs over Winston.
