RD 3, Pick 96: TE Dawson Knox, Ole Miss

Yeah I'm sure TE is certainly a position you have to project more than most due to circumstance. Jimmy Graham was a special case being a basketball player switching late like Antonio Gates. Heck i'd draft undersized centers on the NBA bubble with zero football numbers. Those guys have the skills. He is similar to George Kittle tho I see that. Another part of the reason is exactly because the TE routes are so dependent on QB preference we don't know if JA gives a stud TE Jimmy Graham at NO numbers or Jimmy Graham at GB numbers. Of course we won't know until we know eh? -

Why does this matter? They had poor production. I want production. 7th round TEs have had better production. I don't care. I want him to be good. Really pulling for him. I'd have preferred picking someone else. -

What? But no I'm not going to watch Ole Miss for a TE that catches 3 balls a game. Hard pass. Ole Miss was awful. I don't watch 5-7 college teams I don't care about. That's painfully bad. Idc maybe he'll be good. Not a fan of the pick because I want to see production. You're allowed to like it. I gave you my reasons for my opinion. Mostly for a Maybin joke. -

What's the point in where they were picked. Maybin would have been bad in the 3rd round. Therefore the point is they have poor college production. -

I remember a fella named Maybin that had mediocre numbers in college. -

Not liking it Bob. I suppose if we really wanted a TE this is the round to get it. Of course he needs to be GOOD -

I don't recall Gillislee being insanely fast. The man just took advantage of Cog's road grading to break some chunk runs. -

L Bell ain't a burner. The only stock I take in that 40 time if accurate is he won't take it to the house when he really hits his hole. So.. 40 yard gains instead of 70 TD. You still have to have all the other tools to make that break out run to begin with and many don't have it. Makes the 40 time a hill of beans if they can't break runs often -

Vision, patience, IQ, all that jazz. It's great to have Chris Johnson but there's a lot more to it. -

Yes.. vision. You hit a hole faster and time and right you are a lot faster than Trent Richardson running anywhere but the hole. L Bell ain't a burner -

Yeah don't care about combine speed. Some just have football speed. IQ / vision / instictual angles / agility make em harder to catch. Certainly looks as fast as any other productive RB in the highlights -

Crap. A Thurman / Faulk style eliminates the need for a great TE and works wonders on broken plays. Don't terribly mind the speed. Just want JA to get his dynamic safety blanket. -

I think pass catching RBs really take a lot of pressure off the OL, QB, and WRs altogether. Makes an RB so much more valuable if he's at least not a dud in that area. Can replace the TE routes on 3rd and short passing plays as a safety blanket. And Josh Allen may work well on broken plays with a smart RB working the space for the dump throws. -

Awesome, thanks for the info. I know I'm asking a lot but I was really hoping for a duel threat out of the passing game too. Says his receiving production declined, could be system changes, QB, etc. is he a decent pass catcher? Did he have solid receiving production of note before he declined? -

Jesus man that's a ballsy joke hahaha. Not bad. Anyways what's your Intel? Is he good in the passing game? I really want a pass catching running back here. -

Mind. Blown. This changes everything. -
Anybody else starting to fall in love with the Clippers ?? What they're doing right now is amazing. Otherwise Bucks are definitely my team. They're hard not to like.

@Joe in Winslow it's a start bud. We desperately needed a rushing attack. This guy better be damned good in both rushing and catching out of the backfield. Not sure about this one. But if he's got that pass catching skillset these kind of RBs do wonders to our passing attack. Don't know anything about him. Can he catch? -

This might be a killer fantasy pick boys since we added some beef in the trenches. Not in love with the position but certainly depends on if he can revitalize the rushing game cause we absolutely need him as a home run hitter or a new and improved Shady Hedging the risk here I suppose. Don't really care much for Ivory on the roster. -
Serious question SDS. I'm not trying to be rude. BUT WHERE. Because I do want to discuss this. Where can we discuss what the pick means in terms of who we didn't get, opportunity cost, draft strategy. So I went to the dedicated.

We clearly got the wrong Cody. Gonna have to change my screen name now Ok that joke is getting old.
