Zach Wilson no show at Jets' camp UPDATE: SIGNED
ColoradoBills replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For sure. Are the Jets really scared that the 2nd overall pick will be so bad they will have to cut him? Some team will take on his contract minus the guaranteed signing money. Trevor's contract has no offsets. It's stupid and shows a degree of faithlessness in Wilson. I mean the kid just took a punch in the mouth after his "go to guy" just died in a tragic accident. Now he has to sit at home and wait for this stuff to clear up when he should be with his team. Jets are gonna Jets! -

So after checking the Jets QB Depth Chart. Wilson, Morgan and White have a total of 0 snaps in the NFL. WTF are they thinking? -

Bills interested in CB Steven Nelson

Steven Nelson makes plea on Twitter: 'Don't hold me hostage' shortly before Steelers terminate his contract. Maybe he isn't a "process" guy. https://steelerswire.usatoday.com/2021/03/23/pittsburgh-steelers-steven-nelson-release-nfl/ -

How Many Games Will Packers Win Without Rodgers?
ColoradoBills replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I had to look up their schedule. Besides the Division games they have: NFC West AFC North NO and WAS 17th game is KC. Can't see them over .500. -
Yes you are correct. There always are players who currently are under the Top 51 who will make the team. It was my understanding that this was figured into the rules by only having the Top 51 during the offseason to compensate for having 53 on the final roster. It was implemented to get as close to a wash as possible. Of course this is all "team subjective". Some team end up with a little more cap some with a little less. One also has to be aware of the "dead money" when cutting these "over Top 51" players too. A player like Lamp ($1.06M which you used) has $350k in Dead Money. If a rookie took his place it would come out as a wash. Another point is the 2 players called up each week get a weeks worth of NFL Roster minimum salary for that week (a pretty good raise) before they go back down. The main point I originally brought up was with the new PS rules teams spend over twice the money compared to a few years ago.

Iggles don't have the cap to sign him (and their 2nd round pick). I wonder if there is a player they are willing to deal. Anyone hear any rumors? sorry. -
Quote from last years article. PS has counted against the cap for years. Teams are allowed to pay a player a higher salary than the minimum, and this often happens if another team comes sniffing around a player. All practice squad salaries are counted under the team’s salary cap. https://dknation.draftkings.com/nfl/2020/9/4/21420151/2020-nfl-practice-squad-salary-rules-eligibility-size-roster-cuts-covid-19-coronavirus

Once the season starts the Top 51 rule goes away and all players salaries (including PS players) counts against the cap.
-
Yep. Now it will be down to hoping a good number of cuts make it through waivers and end up on the PS anyway. I have been waiting for @YoloinOhio to post the news for this season and I for one feel much better!
-
After some quick calculations the PS (after weekly callups) will cost teams around $3M in cap. Bills $9M in space right now is more like $6M. FWIW.

Awesome. So pretty much the same as last year if I remember correctly?

I specifically said I wasn't commenting on the article but you have been extremely down on the idea of the Sanders signing. -

I didn't say that at all. But now that you opened it up to that. YES I believe he can outdo his best season with Big Ben! That was a season total of 740 yards and a 11.0 YPR. -

I'm not defending the article but I have to say your seemingly negative attitude that Sanders is not capable of a great year is a bit overblown by using "stats". His last 5 years of QBs has been Siemian Keenum Flacco Garoppolo Hill and an old crippled retirement bound Brees. None of them come anywhere near Josh Allen. I'm hopefully optimistic. -
Fact is Edmunds is playing for the Bills this year for $4M. He is most likely playing next year for $12.7M. I'm pretty sure that Beane will not even talk about an Edmunds contract until after Josh Allen's contract is sealed. I'm hoping for a decent Edmunds improvement this year and I will only think about this subject halfway through NEXT season. IMO.
