Jimmy G takes pay cut, staying with Niners
ColoradoBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
They both took the best option available to them. -
Technically you don't totally protect any practice squad players. Each game week you can protect 4 PS players early in the week. This is so any players that may be needed and "elevated" for that week cannot be poached by another team. The catch is after the week these players go back onto the practice squad and are eligible to be poached every Tuesday. No PS player is completely protected.

I'm glad you rephrased Morris. As for Sweeney his is a borderline TE3 JAG / PS TE in my opinion. Lots of JAG TEs in the league every year.
-
PS could be an option.
-
Morris has a chance to develop. I mean there was a lot of this board calling Knox "a scrub" at the start of last season. 'member?
-
Agree. Teams can bring up to 8 back with the new rules. There are only 3 guys (that we know of) injured that MAY go to IR. Stevenson, Doyle and now maybe Morris. None sound very serious. They got options to move 1 or 2 to IR and it seems they would all be "returnable". Compared to other teams the Bills did well injury wise throughout the off season. Let's hope that extends into the regular season and playoffs! Too much cap for those guys. Now during cutdowns I expect THESE GUYS to be prevalent on this board.

Extend Po Now - Protect the Culture
ColoradoBills replied to MarlinTheMagician's topic in The Stadium Wall
Doesn't sound like any contract extension this season. I've been praising Beane for not signing any of the big-name guys until after this season. Too many variables and everything will look a little clearer next March. -
Belichick: September might be an extended preseason

NE secondary is a lot weaker than it has been. They will give up more points than last year and the O will score less. No way they end up anywhere close to 3rd in net points like last year. -
I suffered from the gout years ago. Take meds to avoid it now. It was some painful $#!).
-
No such luck with a trade IMO. Not sure what they were wanting earlier in the year but it's too late now. Nobody wants that contract now. The only way would be some sort of trade with a "salary dump" like in hockey, LOL.
-
It sure is. Honestly hope it's not serious but maybe............................
-
The whole idea of trades at this time of the year has to do with 2 exceptions. 1. Teams way down the waiver list sometimes do a trade for a player they know will get claimed above them. 2. Vet cuts allow a vet to choose where he goes. A trade locks him into the trading team. Doesn't happen too often, but it does make sense at times.

Our new punter will be (Update pg. 38 - Martin Signed)
ColoradoBills replied to JMM's topic in The Stadium Wall
They got to fly him in for the signing ceremony. It takes a while to make one of those "big keys". -
Buck Owens would be better.
-
Really hoping Anderson goes to PS. Looks like he can develop. I got to think Doyle gets another year on his rookie deal at a minimum.

"Punt Prodigal Son". I hate myself for that! -

Yes. For the golfers out there, the thin air is 1-2 clubs. -
Knox, Howard, Sweeney and Morris to start on IR. They keep them all and decide what to do later. Good thing Beane kept $10M in cap. This is why you keep a decent cushion.

The article was just updated today (it corrected the number of PS to 16 this year) and was originally wrote this spring. It seems it finally gives all the details for this year's PS rules and salaries. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-practice-squad-salary-rules-2022/xfsq4rhj3ro6sdw8p4y6hzia

From what I have been reading it seems they changed that rule in the last year to set a vet maximum.
-
I'm going by the Dorsey presser a couple of weeks ago. He said he wants Gilliam as a true FB only. He wasn't using him in TE sets at all.
-
Tenuta also. It will be interesting to see who ends up finally on the PS for the OL.
-
Even after the Bills eating $700k after a trade involving Howard, I just don't think Beane can find a team to bite. If he does it will be in the next 24 hours. Howard probably sticks as others have said for 2 TE sets and they keep Morris (who will not dress in a lot of games) as a Knox replacement if he gets dinged up. Morris has much more upside I believe than Sweeney. That being said the Bills can't be happy with Howards overall play in camp/preseason. I know I'm not. He hasn't performed for the money they laid out on his contract. Sweeney might get claimed and if he does Beane will need to find another TE for the PS.

Thanks. One thing we all have to accept is these sites do the best they can for us fans but the official stuff is only known by the teams/NFL. It seems so. There was more tweaking of the PS in the last year and it does sound like there is a maximum now.

Thanks. I will use it the next few days.
