Sure, the Bills have expectations. I do think last regular season was a lesson for them not taking each game as serious as they should have. This year it's this. Win the Division with as many wins as possible. They all mean something when it comes to home field throughout the playoffs. The whole team knows this. It's up to McDermott, Josh and Von to keep them focused. 2 home wins and you're in. Then its winner takes all. They got a good shot, but it's still a long tough journey.

Exactly. He signed a quarter of a billion $ contract! It's set up perfect for a 4–5 year extension to be signed in 2027. That will take him through the 2032 season. Can you imagine what that contract will be worth!

My biggest question is how well will NEs secondary plays. They lost a shutdown corner in Jackson and that has to put more pressure on McCourty at FS who is now 35 years old. It's looking like their SCB is unproven. Jonathan Jones is now starting full time and their depth behind all these guys doesn't look great. Jaylen Mills returns at CB but his first season with the Pats wasn't stellar at all. BB has always been able to take away opposing team's top WRs. Not sure if that happens this year.

Your points have been made by a lot of pundits recently. My point was I believe the pendulum has swung too far recently. It is a fact that Day 3 RBs perform at a much lower level than Day 2 picks. That is a fact. That being said, I also know that as a whole, Day 1 RB picks are not a good idea and have said the same many times. As to the Bills specifically, Singletary ended up being a good pick IMO. I didn't think Beane and McDermott going with Moss the following year was a good idea. It ended up that 2020 was a bad year for RBs with Jonathan Taylor (2nd rounder) being the only great pick. Edwards-Helaire and Gibson at the next level. Neither of which were Day 3 picks. While Akers was a 2nd rounder who was IR'd during the Rams SB season, is not proof they would not have been a better team if they had Taylor on the roster. So, I will agree that 2 3rd rounders in a row was not a great idea. Cook was a 2nd rounder this year and none of us know what his worth to the Bills will be. That question will be answered in the next 4 years. Looking forward to 2023 I think Cook, Moss and a cheap RB3 (maybe a Blackshear, maybe another) maybe a good, diversified RB room. Keeping JA from running in non-playoff, end of the game situations, will be a plus. I'll end by saying paying big money to a year 5 or later RB is a bad, bad move! Beane hasn't done that, at least.

The pendulum swung from the RBs of the league being very important to this "dime a dozen" anyone can do it. Personally, I think it swung a little too far. Teams with a good running back still have an advantage IMO. Overpaying older guys is still not a good idea. RBs lifetimes in the NFL is low with the abuse they take. A 2nd round RB (especially late in the round) is not outside sound reasoning to me. He does need to perform over the norm and stay healthy to be worth the pick. Cook's career is just starting, we'll see.

One good thing is it's down from the 8 in-actives from just a handful of years ago. From everything I learned it was a competition ruling. If all teams can only dress less than the max, it doesn't "penalize" teams with a handful of injured players that can't dress. Not sure how valid that reasoning is but that's the way it is. With the expanded PS and elevated call ups the inactive rule reason is weakened.

After the rookie was cut and they need a punter now, yes, a veteran was needed.

That may sound like a simple bumper sticker rule but I'm sure GMs and HCs don't lock themselves in to that. Examples can be many. An aging player who is still a bit better than a younger guy with upside is one. Cap considerations are another. BB in NE was always quoted as saying getting rid of a player one year before his time is sometimes the best move. I hate giving him credit for doing that, but he is right. I understand your opinion, but I just don't like absolutes.

PS is now completed. Some small moves will continue but it looks pretty good. Years ago, no one cared about the PS and UDFAs but that is rapidly changing. The average NFL team has 1/4 or more of its roster made up of guys that went through this process. I love the 16-man PS (one of the NFLs better moves lately) and I can see anywhere from 1 to 4 PS guys who have a decent chance to make the roster in the next year. The "elevate" rule is another great idea. Having guys move up for a game or two to fill short term injuries is a big plus. All these new rules really change the PS to more of a "farm" team. The NFL needed that.

He will still be a major voice in contract negotiations, but won’t be the point person any more. Meganck has been with the Bills since 2004 working with Overdorf.

If he sits on the couch, he will be forgotten. As of now he needs to perform to prove he deserved a roster spot. I can't be certain, but maybe his motivation or lack of it is why he was let go by his last 2 teams.

I really believe he will replace Lawson next year unless he's beat out by some JAG UDFA which I doubt. He's a good football player who should have been claimed. The DL is set next year with the only other replacement needed for Phillips (who may re-sign).

Of course there's nothing to worry about. The 3 oldest players all 34 are a ST gunner, OL (who will be replaced) and a backup QB. If those 3 guys were replaced by 22-year-old rookies, it drops the team average age by .6 of a year. Math is fun.

Come on Brandon, still waiting to see what TE you sign to the PS. I was hoping for Ryan Izzo but the stupid Panthers signed him for minimum.
