  1. They got lucky that he panned out. I don't understand how you can point fingers at them saying it was a bad thing when the player was not the player he ended up being at the end of the season. He made changes and the team saw these changes and brought him back. They should be credited for seeing him make the changes. He said it himself that he needed to be cut to make the proper adjustments. I stated that it worked as a kick in the pants because nobody wanted him. He was a nobody at the time. How can you blame a GM and coach for exposing a player to waivers when he showed he couldn't play with the opportunity that he had? That's just bs. Why don't we blame them for sending Cam and Ray Ray there too? They were at the same level as Foster was at the time. Just doesn't make sense man. Your view is all hindsight. What you wanted them to see in him, he finally showed them midseason when they brought him back. That's where they get the credit that people are giving them, not at the beginning of the season when he was just another guy that was going to be cut.
  2. Robert Foster was in the same category as both Ray Ray and Phillips based on what he'd accomplished up to that point. They were all roster fillers with potential to become something. Foster ended up being the guy that did. What do you think the practice squad is used for? Many teams use it for those type of players who haven't accomplished anything but have potential. It's a stash system. You are still giving Foster the credit that he had accomplished something up to that point but he did not. He was a practice squad type of player up to that point. He proved that he wasn't a player that could produce in his first 6 games. It wasn't until Mccoy talked with him and told him to step it up that he changed his approach. Being cut added to that motivation. Then, he became the player that we saw in the later part of the season. Robert Foster even stated that he needed to be cut to become the player he did.
  3. The Chicago Bears were 12-4 last season. Did anyone have them at that record before the season started? Who had the Jags going 5-11? The schedule means nothing. Show up to play every week and be the better team.
  4. No, it's not as simple as that because he wasn't their best WR at the time. He was one of the worst when they made that decision, so they expected no team to be interested which makes it a much safer move. Here let me grab a wide receiver who produced nothing with every opportunity for a Buffalo team, produced nothing in college and had an injury history in college. The only reason we even had the player is probably because of the Daboll connection. You're playing the if game which is a pointless one and you're saying he was our best WR in the beginning of the season which is false. He had potential just like every NFL player does but he didn't play well until after returning later in the year.
  5. Think of it this way, he will make the money he will make in the NFL no matter what team he plays for. She can expand on her music business in NYC and it could last a lot longer than an NFL career. So, if they move to NYC and her career hits an upswing, they could make a lot more money. Family business decision...
  6. He had 2 catches for 30 yards in 6 games on an offense where he could have easily taken over the 1st WR role if he played well in that span, later he did so. I don't see any team that was looking to scoop a player off of our WR group from the beginning of last season. He showed he could drop the ball really well if you remember. It wasn't until after he came back that the light came on. How is that a bad decision if the guy showed nothing? He completely did a 180 which worked out well but to point fingers at them and say it was a bad decision based on what he had shown to that point is just hindsight BS.
  7. We very well could go defense this year with the 9th pick. IF they can't find a trade partner, which I believe is their first option, they have a major need at the penetrating DT spot. If some of the top offensive players are picked ahead of us and some of those top DTs fall into our laps, I'd have no problem taking one. They understand the need to bring more pressure with only a four man front when using a zone defense like we do. I'd rather do that than reach for an offensive talent that clearly is not a top 10 talent. Unfortunately, this class is defensively top heavy. Now we will definitely see players move up in the class as the combine and pro days arrive but let's not force a need and take a less talented player when at 9 when we have many other picks. We had success finding undrafted free agents too last year. The wide receiver and tight end positions in this class are quite deep along with a few other positions we have needs at so there's really no need to force the issue at 9.
  8. They did it when he was underachieving but they kept him on the squad. It was more of a kick in the pants to get him motivated and it clearly worked. After he came back, he was a different player.
  9. Milano was one of the best players on the defense last season and it was obvious how much the defense missed his presence when he went down with an injury. He was all over the field. Gilmore was a man-to-man CB that would have been way overpaid to play in a zone defense. Same goes for Darby. Scheme fit was the main reason there, don't understand why fans still can't grasp that concept. Also, there are more more DT options that may fall to 9 than CB. They have to attempt to replace Kyle Williams. I think they know just how big of a whole he left. Why would they draft a 1st round CB when they've had success finding quality players in the 4th round and in UDFA? That logic makes zero sense. That's the point of a zone defense, so you don't have to find an extremely skilled corner. This defense relies on creating pressure with only a four man front so that the zone causes problems for the QB and the secondary can feast off of poor decisions.
  10. Trent Brown is tough to evaluate when Brady gets the ball out as quick as he does, our offensive style is different. McDermott uses a zone coverage scheme and Darby is more polished and used to a man-to-man coverage scheme. Paradis would be a nice option, as would Morse. I'd prefer the younger Morse who has more time to grow with Allen. Cook is 32 and is very inconsistent. We just had an aging inconsistent starting tight end. Again, I think they are looking for a younger talent at that position to grow with Allen.
  11. Kyle Williams was our penetrating DT and now he has retired. We need another penetrating DT. Who else do we have: Star, maybe Jordan Phillips and Harry. There's not a reliable penetrating DT there. A penetrating DT like they had with the Panthers in Kawonn Short who had 11 sacks in 2015 is definitely a higher need. We already have a pass rushing OLB in Zo who will need to be replaced but we have him signed for this upcoming season, so that position isn't the bigger need. We also have Shaq, Murphy and Hughes on the edge which covers that area enough where it isn't the biggest need. All of those players will benefit from the QB being flushed out by a penetrating DT. Let's not undervalue what Kyle Williams brought to this defense with his penetration skills, which need to be replaced. Both positions are needs but Williams is gone and Alexander is still here.
  12. Yeah I'm sure he'd rather contribute to society like he has been doing. I take this situation as a bunch of ignorant people erupting over someone with the balls to stand up or kneel in this case for people in this country that are just supposed to fall in line into a system that has set them up to fail.
  13. He had a 4.0 in college and a 38 on the wonderlic score. I guarantee that he is smarter than 90% of fans. He donates to charities and actually contributes to society but ignorant fans can't get over him kneeling for an actual problem in this country. Sad.
  14. Shaq Lawson is emerging and I think they will give Trent Murphy another season which means those two will occupy that side with Alexander thrown into a few situations. I see them maybe adding a DE later in the draft especially if the top 3 pass rushers go off of the board on the edge. The DT position could be the position that falls into our laps at 9 just based on how many there are at the top of this class. That's the position I see us addressing if we stay at 9. I think Buffalo will address a lot of our offensive holes in FA so we can go into the draft taking the top talent. That being said they are definitely hoping to find someone to trade down with and take something to help Allen. I don't see them acquiring a starting level DE. A rookie in the middle rounds to learn from Hughes would be the ideal way to go for this offseason IMO. The DE market is going to be set so high this offseason with so many guys available, plus we'd have to overpay to get someone on top of that...draft a rookie. We need to get younger there too. A penetrating DT is clearly the bigger need with Williams retiring and Buffalo not creating enough havoc up the middle last season. There's a lot of depth in this class to draft one if they can find a trade partner to move down from 9 but if they can't, we will likely select a DT at 9.
  15. We need inside pressure way more than we need outside pressure especially with Kyles retirement. Focus on getting pressure up the middle so the outside guys don’t have to do everything. Trent looked good in pass rush which is what he was brought in to do. He just missed out on a few sacks this season which would have made his numbers look better and help soothe the minds of those that stare at stat columns. Priority for him is obviously to be healthy. Pressure from the DT positions is the top priority. Without that, the outside players will have a tough year.
  16. I just don't think that they are a good enough offensive line to give up on a second round pick so early. He's under a very reasonable contract and isn't hurting anyone. Unless a team really wants him and puts up an enticing offer than they might move him but a 5th rounder doesn't do much IMO.
  17. I like the thinking that went into the post but why would the Chargers trade a solid player on their rookie contract for a lowball offer? Makes zero sense. If anything, he'd make great depth for that team if he is indeed a solid player. What's in it for the Chargers to make this deal?
  18. Slightly different but the concept was still the same. Fans seem to get too attached to 'this season' that they can't look at how it benefits the future. I understand why things went down the way they did in Philly but part of the reason was because players and fans were too emotional and Chip was just going about business. Same thing happened with many fans here with players being traded as if we were so close to being a contender when we were in a rocky place with the cap and we hadn't even made the playoffs yet haha. The Raiders have 5 1st round selections over the next two years, Philly has raised a Lombardi and Buffalo looks like a team with a very bright future. I wouldn't be surprised to see other teams like the Bengals, Miami and others tear their rosters apart. It seems to me, the best solution to getting out of mediocrity. However, that is relying on fans to be patient and that doesn't seem to exist anymore. That's why so many fans are either bandwagon fans or want the best free agents that are proven talents to join their teams. The win-now league is changing.
  19. Exactly. Philadelphia did the same thing with chip kelly but he was fired and then the team wins the super bowl with a back up quarterback. The process takes longer but it gives you the best chance because you’ve loaded up on assets. Fans always want to win now and hate when the talent gets traded away but it allows the team to stack up on young talented players.
  20. Agree to disagree. For the record, I’m not saying he will be a good coach, I’m saying that I think that the risk in this move is more calculated than fans are willing to admit. Having a HC that gets the best out of their QB is one of the top attributes to have IMO and one that very few defensive coaches and some offensive coaches don’t have. That being said, what do they do with Dalton? If Dalton stays for more than a year, I’d be surprised.
  21. Harrison Phillips isn’t a penetrator like Kyle was. He’s a solid run stuffer. 35 total tackles for minimal playing time is solid for a rookie DT IMO. He has much to learn but growth is to be expected. That being said, another player is certainly needed. Oliver would definitely be a nice talent to have. Any player that has the talent and the versatility to play multiple positions on the front 7 will be considered I’m sure.
  22. It was pretty evident his rookie year that he had the ability and just needed time to put it together. Glad he has a running mate for the future as well
  23. The comparison that seemed to go over your head was Fisher to another long time coach, Marvin Lewis. It was the first line of the reply... Cincy is a team that is in no mans land with Dalton. I think they know that and will be looking to move on soon, wouldn’t it be nice to have a guy who has worked with QBs for the better part of his career to potentially help a rookie QB? I’m not saying the guy will be good at all but to trash him before he even coaches a game or we know anything about the direction they are taking the team, is just too much of a knee-jerk reaction for me.
  24. I don't own Bills garb. No need to spend money on something so unnecessary.
