  1. You can ask him that, but why? We all know the answer. He didn't challenge because he was across the field and didn't see it, he didn't get a call down to challenge it, and they were on the 1 yard line anyway (not that you'd get that much out of McDemott anyway). And then he'd add "we are constantly evaluating how we can get better. We have a growth mindset and that starts with me." Really there isn't such a thing as a good question in those settings because you won't get the REAL answer out of them (nor should you) and everything else we already know the answer to. Ask Allen about the INT against the Pats? He'll say "Diggs and I had a bit of a miscommunication on that route and we talked about how we can get on the same page. We feel really good about that going forward and we're constantly trying to improve in our communication." I just really don't see why these press conferences are even done. They are more than useless. They are just a waste of time.
  2. I've felt for YEARS now that pres conferences are useless. Pretty much for any team. I guess I don't really see the point of them. The players and coaches don't want to be there and they don't want to answer the questions. They just try to get through without saying too much of anything and keep things general (and I don't blame them at all). But you're right. 90% of the questions are stupid or irrelevant. And when you do get a good question the coaches and players don't answer because they don't want to give anything away to opponents or give them any bulletin board material. I find it much more interesting when a journalist sits down for a 1-on-1 interview. Players and coaches seem to open up more in those situations. And even when they come on radio shows they tend to loosen up some.
  3. Wow. Tommy boy in the bottom 5?
  4. I understand that. But there's no denying that mobile QB's are more agile and able to evade defenders in the backfield better than your traditional pocket QB's. I don't watch Ryan much at all, so I was unaware that he was elusive in the pocket.
  5. I'm pretty sure they do count that.
  6. I wouldn't be surprised if he DID send him a Christmas card. I have no reason to believe they are not friends. People fight and then make up all the time.
  7. Funny that they chose to show a picture of Murray even though Allen is #1...
  8. All we can really do is speculate. Diggs has said over and over that he has nothing against Cousins and the Vikings organization. The Vikings said over and over that they were happy with Diggs and would keep him. It took a huge haul of draft picks to pry him away from them. In my opinion the media made it a bigger issue than it actually was. Surely there was some squabbling and issues, but I doubt it was anything like how the media built it up to be. And I bet Diggs and Cousins are on good terms.
  9. Well that's exactly what it is. I just didn't know Matt Ryan was that good at it compared to those other guys who are more agile.
  10. So why would Allen want to sign now if he knows he can make more money after the season?
  11. Also, he's just super strong. He isn't always just eluding defenders. He's throwing them off of him and breaking tackles and sacks. Pretty hard for defenders to deal with. He's big, athletic and mobile, can break through tackles, AND he's smart and can maneuver in the pocket.
  12. Surprising to see Matt Ryan so high. The rest of those guys are pretty mobile.
  13. Came across this on reddit. Josh Allen is number 1 in the NFL at evading pressure:
  14. Sure. But I imagine there are lots guys who could fill that role. He's only 25 so he has a lot of years left to play.
  15. You're talking about the league leader in receptions and receiving yards...
  16. It's simply a change up in your stride to try to fake the defender out. Trying to make them think you are going to change direction or make a juke move or something. Singletary did it last year and successfully froze the defender with it to give him a bit of space to continue his run into the end zone.
  17. One of the most exciting plays in football is when a QB takes a hard hit and doesn't even see it coming. Unfortunately a lot of that has been taken out of the game.
  18. It also comes down to opponents and scheme. We faced Gregg Williams, who has a blitz happy scheme. We also faced the Seahawks who literally had nothing else on defense to do because they were getting gashed no matter what. In the past the recipe to stop Allen is to NOT blitz but to contain him in the pocket and rally to him when he decides to run. Force him to stay in the pocket and be a QB. That recipe has clearly changed. Teams are now afraid of keeping him in the pocket because he CAN be a QB and make throws. So they blitz him and/or drop into coverage (NE routinely had 7 DB's on the field to try to take away the pass).
  19. I think the Bills have been variable. Just last week they ran it a lot. They are always a threat to do that again.
  20. That's not actually true, though. The threat of the run (play action) is usually enough to freeze the linebackers for a split second. It's instinctive and they can't help it.
  21. Guess I'm not nastalgic. I don't really care if ESPN goes away. Someone (or multiple someone's) will be there to fill the void if they haven't already.
  22. So if you were to put all the best teams on a list, how many of them have QB's with big contracts ($20 million plus)? Chiefs? Yes. Ravens? No. Steelers? Yes. Bills? No. Seahawks? Yes. Saints? Yes. Packers? Yes. Rams? Yes. Titans? Yes. Bucs? Yes. Seems like the Bills and Ravens are the only decent teams without a big QB contract. All the others make at least 20 million a year, most more than that. It doesn't stop them from having good teams.
