  1. Mr. 7-9 Jeff Fisher has accepted the position of Head Coach for the USFL's Michigan Panthers. USFL "football" scheduled to begin on April 16th.
  2. In my opinion the teams that would be a marked improvement with Mariota: 1. Steelers 2. Saints 3. Panthers Places he could go and be a bridge guy/Compete 1. Giants 2. Texans 3. Browns 4. Jets 5. WFT 6. Colts Again, just an opinion. When I look at the Steelers run game from last year a few things stand out beyond the rankings. They used the passing game as an extension of the run game many times. Harris had 74 catches out of the backfield and ended the season with 1,200 rushing yards. That's pretty impressive for a rookie behind a young line IMO. Had over 1,600 yards total. 4th in the NFL in yards from scrimmage. Steelers didn't even have another guy with 100 rushing yards on the team last year. Adding Mariota adds to their ability to add rushing yards much like the Bills and Raven are routinely top ruahing offenses thanks on part to QB rush yards. Let's say Mariota joins the Steelers and goes for 500 rush yards. That rushing offense moves from 29ish into the top 10.
  3. Any time a guy has a high number of INTs (sacks too, for that matter) there has to be a certain amount of luck involved.
  4. I say you fellas send a message. In protest, you should both stop posting until Frazier is canned. That will show the Pegulas you mean BUISNESS.
  5. That Diggs guy played slightly above average as well.
  6. With the amount of teams that may be looking for an upgrade at QB, mixed with the expected lack of talent on the FA market at QB and a projected "bad QB draft" (however we won't truly know that for a couple years) I believe you kind of answered your own question in why he may be a hot commodity. Some coaches have the idea that "Yea, he's broken...but in MY system I can make him better" when it comes to former high draft picks. I would say that as it sits right now there are 3-4 teams he may be an upgrade on as starter. As you say, him with a stronger defense and run game (which Pittsburgh has both imo) and you may have a recipe for some wins.
  7. I can't see the Giants hiring Flores. After the whole "bring the building together" goal they announced at Schoen's introduction it would be a hard sell to hire a guy that was reportedly out in Miami due in part to being unapproachable and hard to work with. Sounds too much like Judge imo
  8. Just a gut feeling. I think Mariota is going to be a hot name in FA with the way he looked filling in for Carr a while back. He would add a nice dimension for their run game and a lot of the underneath passing game that the Steelers have run with Ben the last 2 years. Trubisky would be a more traditional fit for them IMO, but (again, my gut tells me) he's going to have a few places to choose from to compete for a staring spot.
  9. I'd figure if McCarthy struggles Kellen Moore would be the favorite...or Sean Payton would magically want to coach again and a deal with the Saints would be on the table.
  10. I actually see the Steelers going after Mariota or Trubisky.
  11. Could say that about almost every candidate this year.
  12. Quinn was a very hot name this cycle. Increases odds Daboll gets a few offers. Just my opinion, but I think he really wanted the Denver job. Kind of like last year where Daboll reportedly removed his name from places after being passed over for the Chargers gig.
  13. You don't want him? Jokes on you Pro Bowl...he don't want you!
  14. Hm. Perhaps a thread about how Building a dome would have ended up in a squib kick and playing better defense over the final 13 seconds?
  15. Not sure about Daboll or Frazier. However, it feels like a lot of thread topics have run their course on these forums this week.
  16. My wayyyyyyyy too early prediction is 12-5. This will change based off what we do and what our opponents do. However as always, I'm a big believer that what matters most is WHEN you play a team.
  17. Actually, I believe generalizing is lazy thinking. It always is a shock when a player retires on the younger side. But it does seem to happen every so often. Certain players have a different set of ideals and values. It was great seeing him stay healthy this season, though.
  18. Booming LEFT FOOTED punter...he's on Beane's board for sure.
  19. Being "big spenders" in FA is fun for the fans. However, spending WISELY in FA is smarter. Finding players that fit your scheme and culture > Overpaying someone for production they had on another team, in another scheme and years prior just because they have a name fans recognize.
  20. Should not come as breaking news, however Beane has pretty much confirmed (IMO) that punter Matt Haack will not be back. First off, I want to thank Haack for the excellent job he did holding Bass's balls. Not always easy in the weather he faced. He had some rough punts and some pretty good ones. By and large though the inconsistency will be enough to lead to change.
  21. Saying every FA will be snapped up by Belichick....it's officially our offseason.
