Maybe he was saying something about kicking on 3rd down b/c if it's a bad snap, the holder can fall on it and they can try again. That wasn't the issue for SD. It was a missed kick. You can't kick again on 4th. Same thing with MTV no longer having any music, ESPN no longer has any sports commentary. They and Fox got rid of guys like Kelly and Levy b/c they actually knew the game and talked about it. ESPN just can't be bothered with that.

I'm ashamed to be a Republican tonight.
UConn James replied to Losman-McGahee-Evans's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
This is just happening for you? I'm a registered Rep who knew this in the second debate in 2000. With more and more people adhering to Bush's policies, the Democratic party is actually starting to make sense for the first time in 30+ years. Heartfelt condolences for your son. I'm sure that's exactly what Osama's minions were thinking on Sept. 10 when they learned what was going to happen the next day. It's like the cop in Heat and played out by Bernie Kerik, when you spend all your time and effort among criminals, you stay at most one step above them. -
(OT) Best remake of a classic song
UConn James replied to Rayzer32's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You may well be the only one. All due respect to Dylan as a songwriter, but I wouldn't be saddened if something happened to his vocal chords. He truly sounds like if Sam Wyche were singing. A couple of songs on "time Out of Mind" were good tho. The best covers of Dylan's stuff is Jeff Buckley. Dink's Song (Fare Thee Well), I Shall Be Released, Just Like a Woman.... He also does some great Van Morrison covers. Otherwise, No Doubt's cover of "It's My Life" was good. Heard the original by Talk Talk on a weirdo-80s program on the UConn radio station --- the 'remake' was actually just a repetition, note for note, only in GS's voice. It was pretty good tho. -
What if they wash their hands? Oh, wait. It's Afghanistan. My bad.

We need to draw a bath for the TX Appeals Court
UConn James replied to UConn James's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Henry Lee was the only expert who testified that the blood evidence at Bundy Drive led him to believe "something wrong!" Doesn't mean OJ didn't do it. The Supreme Court ruled that it was okay to put the Japanese in concentration camps during WWII, even tho their personal notes later showed they knew it was unconstitutional as they were doing it. Does that mean if 9 justices said it was okay and none said it wasn't, then 9-0 wins and it's true, true, true? Prosecution likely went w/ one expert b/c they figured it'd be all they needed. They'll find others, I'm sure. -
I thought that Saddam hated Islamic radicals?
UConn James replied to GG's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
A government, especially a dictatorship, will go to any and all costs and efforts to keep itself in power. Our Constitution was written and amended to prevent this as best as possible This isn't exactly a new development in the grand scheme of alliances of convenience. -

And if they find five "mental health experts" who say she knew full well what she was doing, that would make them right? All of these experts with their interpretations of a person's mindset when half of the stuff they learned in college has already been debunked. The insanity defense is stupid beyond the pale. Second only to the Twinkie defense. -

Umm, no. Haven't been able to do much target practice the past few years, but I'm getting back into it. I can still shoot the backstop, yessir. A person can support what the NRA advocates and still lean Dem. Howard Dean has a better rating than most Repubs, even. What gun issues possibly have to do with Andrea Yates, I'm still scratching my head over.... -

Don't know what all of those following posts are all about. I've got an NRA Life Member sticker on the back of my[//i] Jeep.... That wasn't even near what I was trying to say. This was talked about for about 10 minutes in a weeks-long trial. Fruit of the poison tree blah blah blah. So, Lionel Tate should be categorized as insane b/c he killed his 3-year-old sister after watching wrestling, where everyone gets right up after being body-slammed? The day we judge mental competancy based on whether someone saw a television show is when the justice system has become completely useless. Don't get me started on the uselessness of psychological therapists. She murdered her children. She should be in jail for the rest of her life, at least. Okay, I officially retract that comment. They are elected, not appointed. -
Sean Taylor's Attorneys comment

Yet another case of Blind American justice when it comes to athletes. -
Mom's convictions overturned for drowning three of her kids. Umm, I doubt that the jury made their decision based on a psychologist doing whatever on a fuggin' television show. Because TV shows matter in the actual justice system. I could give a sh--. Arrest him for perjury. But the jury went on the fact that THE LADY DROWNED HER KIDS, ONE BY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe in the retrial, they'll be able to give her the death penalty and right that wrong. These are the types that Bush is going to nominate for the high court?

Did Kate ever see what was in the package in the bank vault before Jack gives it to her? Why didn't she look at it in the bank or right afterward if she went to that far a length to get it? Why would she want to see it so badly if she already knew what it was? Who was her love interest? I'm beginning to think conspiracy theories and double/triple agent with her. DEEP undercover, even from the guy who had her in cuffs. The thing about the box and plane numbers is too much of a coincidence. She must have seen it to know the plane number. So why did she want it so badly?

I don't think compensation was even mentioned as an issue. I'd say it's safe to assume that it was pro-bono. And if prior actions are any indicator, Gere is probably contributing, if not out of his own pocket and time, then thru fund-raising. At least he's doing something rather than bitching. Can't say that for many people.

And the pilot got his for being curious about the roaring. Claire is apparently missing. Ethan threatened to kill her. Charlie thinks she's dead. (Probably not, tho, that's a big storyline and pregnancy scene to lose). From the looks of the preview, the snooty girl is getting caught in a snare or picked up by the same thing that got the pilot.

That means Exclusive-Rights Free Agent. SD holds all of the cards, and considering that Bobby Bethard isn't there anymore , there's no way they let Gates get away.

This is before they've done that uber-extensive whole-span-of-the-offseason, player-by-player evaluations that they were talking about yesterday? Hmm. Usually when I was doing a paper, I wouldn't be claiming that I'd get an A when I'd only done the outline. Tom Donahoe, ego-inflator/trade-value increaser.

Another question, for drafting a RB.... Do they pick someone who's similar to Willis, a power/speed hybrid? Kind of the way Kenneth Davis more or less matched up w/ Thurman's style? Or someone who complements his running style and is what Willis is not? Like the big bruiser Bettis paired w/ scatback combination they had in Pitt? If so, who fits the mold? To go between these categories, I was thinking about Leon Washington from Florida State if he declares early. He's stocky with a low center of gravity --- I don't get why everyone wants a 6' RB..., has speed (if anyone saw that run in their bowl game, you know what I mean) and power (he drags tacklers).

Yeah, yeah.... Methinks it's going to be 2-3 years until there's another strong push. Welcome to the age of true parity. In the women's game it'll be a while more, but apres Diana, it's starting too. Then again, you never know come March Madness. That's when it counts.

There isn't crap for TEs in this draft. If it were based on getting the best players, period, a TE wouldn't be drafted until about the 4th round. Sorry. It's a position that might stand some upgrading, but it's just not there. Campbell and Euhus are better than anyone coming out and they're not breaking the bank. I agree with the order of Mickey's first four but amend the first one to LG/C.

[SUW]Does this qualify for a Darwin Award?

Or for people who remove themselves from the genepool by doing something stupid with their reproductive organs so as not to be able to use them again. -
I park way back in left field and walk when I absolutely have to go into civilization. People are stupid and I want to not have dinged doors on my new old Jeep. AD, my dad had a phrase for situations like that. It went, "Most people carry one spare tire. Some people carry two. A few may even carry three. But no one carries four."

What you, me and everyone here collectively don't know about the Palestinians could just about be squeezed into the Grand Canyon. Someone made the choice to go with Mr. Gere to get a message out. <shrug> Whatever. Hope it works. Hope they don't elect the next Arafat-esque terrorist. But there's a good chance they will, just to keep pace with how they view Sharon.

Further proof that ad execs are either asleep at the wheel or irretrievably stupid. How many people can name the guy Dodge had in '94 for their overhaul? (Without using something like Google. But actually for the record, I can. Has zero impact that Dodge trucks are ehhhh.) Why do Richard Gere's popularity numbers in Palestine even matter? The French liked Jerry Lewis. So what. Does anyone have the text of what the guy says?

LOST (unofficial second thread)

I think I missed a week or two.... How did Claire die? And who tried to hang Charlie? Was it that Ethan guy that Jack kept seeing? That was a typical hour that left us with furrowed brows, tho. All that so we could find out that Kate was after a message from her beau, whoever he is, that's quite puzzling. A toy plane? I'm racking my brain here with symbolism and just getting overdrive. If anyone saw the writing on the wing...? Kate is starting to get on my nerves with all of her lies and secrets. A few weeks ago, someone pointed out that each episode except one has ended with a song to kind of lighten the mood. Thanks to that person. Tonight we got "Somewhere Beyond the Sea" from Shannon. Pretty good voice and pronunciation. Some might be thinking she's better at French than she's saying. Red herring. When you've heard a song that many times, each note, accent, rolled R is imprinted like a mimograph....
