  1. The stark difference between EJ and Allen was the fact nobody, and I mean NOBODY, mentioned "EJ" and "first round" in the same sentence leading up to the draft. He was a third round (at best) QB that only Doug Whaley felt could become a franchise guy. Most NFL draft analysts all had Allen in the first round.
  2. No worries. They’ll be replaced by “Allen was a horrible #1 pick” or “Beane needs to go” or “McD’s Process...LOL”.
  3. Because it’s wrought with so much made up BS, I’d spend way too much time pointing out the errors.
  4. Maine had some pretty big dudes playing DT in college for him as well.....Ricky Walker (6'2" 304 lbs) and Tim Settle (6'3" 329 lbs). I'm a big fan of Edmunds; however, if anyone thinks he's gonna come in and dominate right away, you might wanna pump the brakes a bit. The NFL is a big step up from the college game and Maine had his issues in college with regards to reading plays and guessing. I have no doubt he can learn and get better.....but it's gonna take a little time. His upside is huge.....he just needs to get in the film room and put a lot of work into the mental part of his game.
  5. A QB can have a ton of positive traits, but it's still a team game. If the Oline isn't good, the vast majority of QB's will struggle. If the WR corps is hurt/hobbled, it hurts the QB. Same goes for the RB group. If the OC's scheme doesn't incorporate accentuating the QB's strengths, the QB struggles. This has been the Bills the last few years. By drafting Allen, McD and Beane are embarking on building THEIR team. Is Allen a risk? Of course he is as most first round QB's are every year. I give credit to Beane for shoring up other areas of the team, namely the Oline and LB's. It'll be interesting how they handle Allen this year. Does he start? Or will they bring him along slower? The likely bet, of course, is that he starts for two reasons 1) he was a first rounder and 2) who else do they have? God help Allen though if he struggles (and he will to a certain extent). This board will have a melt down of epic proportions calling for McD and Beane to be fired before Christmas.
  6. Taylor's arm strength was just fine. And his touch on the deep ball was certainly in the upper tier for NFL QB's when Watkins and Harvin were healthy. The Bills simply had no deep threat once Watkins, Harvin, Goodwin et al left. Harvin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0mPpSEzRZ4 Clay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebSknJ36AxA Watkins https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PISCzWFn43Q&t=14s
  7. You realize objectivity and facts don't belong on this board, right?
  8. Teller was a steal in Round 5. Anybody who graded the Bills’ draft lower than a B is on drugs.
  9. Funny you mention that situation. While I agree, it's yet one piece of the puzzle.....designing your offense to suit your QB's skills set. Another is having a WR corps with a wide range of skill sets (slot guy, big athletic guy over the middle, deep threat, possession receiver etc..).....having some consistency at OC and having some playable depth at Oline. The Bills front office and coaches didn't do the QB any favors gutting the WR corps before last year, changing OC's (which wasn't anyone's fault because McD took over) and having an OC that promised roll outs and getting the QB in space but almost always used a 5 step drop. Hopefully the Bills will recognize Allen's strengths and play to those strengths.
  10. Being a starting QB in the NFL is hard......like real hard. With athletes getting faster and the complexities of the defenses, becoming a starter AND performing at a consistently high level is super difficult. Some people think they know how to evaluate but it's become almost a crap shoot these days. That's why I laughed at so many posters who said we "just needed to draft a franchise QB next year....blah blah blah".....as if you can pick one up at Walmart on your way home from work. If Allen's progression is normal, he's gonna suck more than he has success in the beginning. It's gonna take experience and failure to make him better. This, of course, is going to be unacceptable for many on this board who will take the first opportunity to bash this kid as a bust, a failure......the wrong guy for Buffalo. They'll rail on the negatives and won't give him a chance. But hey, that's their right I guess. Personally, I think Beane had a pretty solid draft and made some good moves. Every one of the draft picks has his flaws but from what I can see, they definitely have talent. It's now in the coaches' hands to get these guys up to speed.
  11. EJ was a late third round pick at best. It wasn't his fault DW decided to pull the trigger in the first. Whaley was either going to look like a genius or an idiot for picking him when he did. We all know how that turned out.

  13. Not gonna flame the OP because everybody has a right to their opinion. I will say, like another poster pointed out, the OP concentrates on the flaws of the players he wants to criticize while hyping the players he likes for their strengths. It's a common strategy when making a point for sure. The OP obviously doesn't give much credence to the coaches either considering it's their jobs to not only find talent but also develop talent. Nobody can know whether or not the highly drafted guys will pan out, but suffice it to say they have very obvious skill sets that, if they develop, could help the Bills make the playoffs every year. I think Beane could've done a whole lot worse in the draft IMO.
  14. Yolo, the video breakdown is very fair and honest. Maine has a ways to go before he dominates like some are expecting him to do in his first year. Being young is definitely a factor, however, he has the capability to learn and get better. The physical tools are all there...and then some. He just needs to get in the film room and work his tail off every practice. I think he can become the dominant LB we're all looking for....we just need to temper our expectations in year one. Being the son of a former NFL player and being raised to be a good person by great parents can't be overlooked. The kid is humble and understands he has to earn his spot.
  15. The internet.....where experts and tough guys are plentiful. Haha
  16. Wyatt’s a good kid with a nasty on-field attitude. Great pick!
  17. OP needs to post a pic of his own face so we can chime in. Only fair in my book.
  18. Unless Maine makes great strides in camp, I think McD will likely use him situationally (ie. in coverage or as an edge rusher). This will give him confidence to build on for becoming an every down LB. IMO, he's still got work to do mentally before he can take that next step. He did guess too much in college which put him in bad positions. Of course he made up for it with his athleticism but that quality will be mitigated somewhat in the NFL. The bottom line is he's young, teachable, smart....he has the capacity to learn and get better....and you just can't teach his size/speed combination which is what enabled him to be drafted in the first round. For those expecting him to be a day one starter and hit the ground running, I'd temper those expectations a bit. Give him some time and I'm confident he wont' disappoint.
  19. I would disagree slightly with the Draft Prospect Outlook for Edmunds. He does a pretty darn good job of shedding blocks because of his arm length and size/strength. He has no problems mixing it up with Olinemen. His biggest obstacle is going to be reading his keys to ensure he'll be in the right spot. The beauty of this situation, however, is the fact he's so freakishly athletic, he can make up for being out of position on certain plays. The reason I think Edmunds will eventually turn into a pro bowl player is because 1) he's still young and has the ability/capacity to learn 2) he's coachable, grounded and is super competitive and 3) with his father having played in the NFL, he obviously has a great blood line which shouldn't be underestimated.
  20. Maine is a freak physically and athletically. I’ve watched nearly everyone of his college games and he has a high ceiling for sure. However, he is young....like real young. He still has some work to do mentally regarding the game. But again, he’s only 19 years old so my hope is that the coaches can work with him to reach his potential. His is older brother, Trey, plays for the Saints and his other older brother will likely be drafted in the third or fourth round in this draft. And of course his Dad, Ferrell, played TE for the Fins.
  21. Rosen's point about Alabama players not majoring in difficult academic programs is nothing new. Statistically speaking, for forever and a day, the better the player, the less likely he is to tackle engineering (or pre-med etc) as his major. I'm just not sure why Rosen thinks he's breaking new ground with his comments.
  22. So Taylor has three head coaches in three years, three OC's.....he spends his own money to train with his WR corps only to have them get rid of those players. They bring in WR's that get hurt. Not saying Taylor's a world beater but the obstacles that were put in his way didn't help matters at all. Regarding another thread where a fan talked to Harvin......sounds like Percy saw what I saw....trying to pound a square peg into a round hole. What happened to the roll outs...getting Taylor in space and throwing on the run (trying to maximize his strengths)? Before you bash me too.....I do think the Bills need to draft a QB this year that will hopefully develop into a star. But to lay the woes of this team's offense at Taylor's feet is moronic.
  23. Revisionist history at its best. Hopefully we can strike gold with the draft because AJ isn’t the answer in my opinion.
  24. Your comments regarding Taylor’s inability to throw deep is laughable. When he had guys that could actually stretch the field, he threw one of the nicest deep balls in the league. Who on this team is the deep threat?
