The biggest thing the game on Sunday showed is how horrible the Oline has been all year. Peterman almost got killed. He had zero time to go through his progressions....heck, he didn't have time to take a five step drop and follow through on this throws. He had people in his face, hanging on him, pulling him down. And people on this board either aren't smart enough to recognize the real problem on offense....they'd rather talk about how the Bills just need to draft a franchise QB....like they're available in every draft. It just doesn't work that way. And Dennison....what's he doing? Why not use your QB's legs to our advantage. Quit with the five step drops all the time. If Taylor get's hurt, he get's hurt. It's not like the Bills staff and FO think he's the solution anyway.

Even if Taylor leaves after this season, by putting Peterman out there when he's clearly not ready only makes things worse as far as his development. Peterman has already been labeled for the rest of his career unless he miraculously starts impersonating Aaron Rogers. The 5 INT's will be in his head for a long time. And it's not so much McD being a hypocrite as much as he's not being truthful.....with the players, fans or himself. He clearly has an agenda so why not just own up to it and move forward. The locker room is going to become toxic if he starts Peterman this weekend. They can talk all they want about being professionals and "that's the NFL", but within the confines of that locker room, those players will be, at the very least, questioning what the heck McD is doing....especially when it's being done to a guy who has given his all for this organization. At some point, McD needs to live by his own mantra about being a high character person. He's playing games right now and, in retrospect, it's been going on since he started. Taylor goes to expense of flying his receivers down to Atlanta for his own workouts.....foots the bill for them to stay....works out every day.....for what? They came in and wiped out any chemistry they gained. And until Benjamin came aboard, it appeared the Bills FO was content letting Taylor flap in the wind with a sub-par WR corps. That was their way of setting him up to fail.

He may be the future somewhere but to put him in that position and for him to have such a bad half was McD's fault and only serves to set him back in his development. With a guy like Peterman, you get him into game situations where the game is pretty much over (up big or down big). Let him at least get his feet wet before you throw him to the wolves. Peterman and McD can talk all they want about how he learned from it and all that, but there's no doubt in my mind that when Peterman goes back on the field, he's gonna be thinking about the five interceptions. He's gonna be playing tight not wanting to make a mistake. And that's exactly what you don't want from your QB.

I still believe McDermott's decision to bench Taylor for Peterman was motivated to take the focus off how terrible the defense has been playing of late. After Sunday, it's pretty clear to see the primary reason why the offense has sputtered....the Oline play has been horrendous. Peterman got chewed up and spit out (not his fault) so I'm not quite sure why people are shocked at the results. McDermott's decision to change QB's (as if that was the real problem) is akin to replacing your point guard in basketball because your team can't rebound worth a darn. It makes no sense. It's actually scary that McD actually thought Peterman gave the Bills the best chance to win. That, to me, is the most worrisome thing about this situation.

Welp, after this past Sunday, I think we found out a lot about why this offense is largely ineffective.....the Oline can't block. While Peterman made some poor decisions to let it rip, he had the Chargers Dlinemen all up in his face practically on every pass. People on here busted on Taylor for leaving the pocket too quickly. It's not hard to figure out why he's having to run for his life. The other problem is Dennison. Beyond the fact he's predictable, I have no idea why they don't use Taylor's ability to run more. He's not a pocket passer and he never will be a pocket passer. What Dennison is doing with Taylor is comparable to NE making Brady run the ball 10 times a game. The most concerning thing to me is McD's pig-headedness when it comes to his message and his actions. He's either a liar or he's indecisive. He doesn't come across as someone who doesn't tell the truth so I choose the latter. He's indecisive and that's probably due to his lack of experience as a head coach. The knee jerk QB decision from last week is something he'll need to recover from quickly. I think the locker room is in disarray from this decision and that's something you don't want to be dealing with in your first year.

McDermott is simply being hard headed. He made a stupid decision to start Peterman against the Chargers and now he’s gonna compound that stupid decision with yet another blunder by drawing out his decision to name the starter for KC. Hey Sean!! You’re the laughing stock of the league right now. Cut your losses and don’t make it worse.

So sitting at 5-4 and in the playoff hunt, you inexplicably start a rookie 5th rounder "to see what he has"? Really? What you should do is get the guy in games that are out of hand and/or you start him once the Bills are eliminated from the playoff picture. Like I've said before, McDermott's decision to start Peterman was, in my mind, a distraction to take the focus off how horrible the defense has been playing as of late. JMO

Nothing led any of us nor anyone else to think Peterman was ready to take the reigns. A 5th round guy and rookie doesn't miraculously step in as the starter and lead team to the promised land. This is not the way to develop any QB in my opinion....throw him out there and let him throw 5 picks in the first half. After pick number two, I would've seriously considered taking Peterman out. After three picks, it would've been a no-brainer. The kid may think he can work through this but it'll be in the back of his head for a long, long time. What yesterday should've shown McD and Beane is that the Oline is bad and the Dline needs to be fixed. The only thing helping the Oline is the fact Shady is an elite RB and Taylor has his mobility. These two things mask the issues on the Oline. Furthermore, even when Shady had a pretty good day running the ball, Taylor wasn't in there to do his patented Houdini moves to avoid sacks and protect the football. Bottom line is McD got what he asked for and that's on him. You know every guy in the locker room is questioning McD and his process. And that's gonna be hard for McD to recover from.

Hahaha.....that's like having a starting pitcher hit 3 batters, walk 12 and give up two grand slams....and keep him in the rotation to "evaluate" him. Jeez oh man....he just showed he's not ready. It's not his fault but to trot him out onto the field to play QB voluntarily at any point the rest of this season would be criminal.

What do your wife's two eyes and brain think about Peterman's performance today? Was he not mobile enough? Did he not make good decisions? Take your PICK!

At the very least, it makes McD look like he was trying to throw attention away from how bad the defense has been playing. And that's supposed to be his bread and butter.

Welp....Peterman may be able to throw "anticipation" passes but when the defenders have better anticipation, this is what you get. 5 picks is astonishing. The Chargers didn't even have to bust a sweat for this blow out...it was handed to them...literally....LOL. They should've let Peterman play the whole game. The record for picks in one game is 8. He was on pace for 10. He'd have blown that record away!!

He covered up an obviously horrendous Oline. I'd say he was a big part of why the Bills were 5-2.

Beyond the score of this game, the most damaging part is the fact McD made a decision to go with a rookie QB saying it was to better the team.....and then we get 5 picks in the first half. Not only does it make him look foolish (because Peterman obviously wasn't ready) but it creates a problem in the locker room. I'm sure the rest of the team, particularly the offense, didn't feel Taylor was THE problem. The loss on the field today pales in comparison with the loss McD is taking with his players' faith. Not to mention the fans who now think McD doesn't have a clue.

You have to commit to building the Oline. It's not glamorous but you have to stick to a plan and do it through FA and the draft. Oakland did a pretty good job of doing that and while they're struggling this year, they do have a pretty solid Oline.

Seems obvious but not in McD's world. I would've stayed the course until the Bills were basically out of it and then put Peterman in as the starter.

Without question improving both is the answer. BUT, you could have Brady back there, but he won't be able to complete passes when he's on his back. If you offered me a stud Oline and a decent QB, I'd take it over a stud QB and a porous Oline any day of the week. It makes the entire offense better to be able to give the QB time to throw and be able to have a solid run game.

He deserves every bit of it.

What a novel, yet ingenious statement. 1000+ to you......most people on this board wanna just draft a franchise QB and think that'll solve the problem....like franchise QB's grow on trees. WE NEED TO FIX THE OLINE!! This has nothing to do with Peterman or Taylor. The Oline is terrible and it's killing this offense. If they're not whiffing on blocks, they're holding. OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE!!

Yea, that's always the answer, right? "Just draft a QB"....."that guy will get it done".....how about the Bills actually build an Oline that can protect and run block? Too many fans think you can "just draft a QB" and that somehow will fix the problem....such a short-sighted approach.

This game should tell McBeane that the Oline needs to be fixed. It's broken beyond repair right now. No QB, aside from a few HOFer's (I guess), would have success with this OLine.

Do you have any film of Cousins completing passes from his back?

Hopefully McD can get his book published “how to ruin a young QB in 30 minutes”. Should be a best seller!!
