Priority: Develop Allen or Win Ugly?
ROCBillsBeliever replied to Berky1010's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do recall a Beane interview, where his comment on McCarron was, "He's not the guy we thought he was." Beane left it at that, leaving us to speculate on what he was inferring. Maybe he, and the staff, believed McCarron would not be a good mentor, after having spent time with him. I think back to the McCarron quote after the final preseason game, where he said (paraphrase), That was the most exciting win I've ever had! An odd thing to say about a 4th preseason game against scrubs... Just food for thought. -
I know, the mods will probably end this thread because they think it's a joke, but hear me out: possibly the lone positive thing Bill's fans can agree on about Whaley's tenure was that he was an ace at reclamation projects, pulling guys like Jerry Hughes into the fold for duds like Kelvin Sheppard, just to name one. Should the Bills bring back Whaley, just as a pro scout? I bet he would work for cheap, too. Hairbrained plot, or stroke of genius? You tell me.

This is just clickbait for all the hateraide drinkers out there; nothing more. All I'm saying is that we, as Bills fans, need to stop thinking with a loser's mentality: "The Patriots are always better than us." "We lucked into that win." This kind of thinking only begets more of this kind of thinking... Think as winners. Play as winners. Accept that we played our asses off, and beat a damn good team, in their house. Accept that the Patriots, and Tom Brady, and Billy O'Bellycheck, are mortal. And maybe we might be able to beat them. Maybe not this year, but the day is coming... Some dingus named Norman Vincent Peale wrote some book, at one point, that a lot of people (probably not Bills fans) read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Power_of_Positive_Thinking That's all I'm saying. #endrant I actually never was on that board. Sorry to disappoint you.

Zay Jones road to redemption
ROCBillsBeliever replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, RoyBatty, he hasn't taken a single handoff, and the damn coaches keep splitting Jones out wide, almost like he's a wide receiver, or something ? -

Jerry, there's already a thread about your buyout. Please keep your comments to that thread. Thanks. -The Management -
For what it's worth, Walter Football gave us two A's for our round 1 draft selections: http://walterfootball.com/nfldraftgrades.php?ddl I pray they have great foresight... I'm worried about Allen, but hopeful. 7. Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming A Grade What a great job for the Bills. They wanted to trade up all along, but the problem was surrendering No. 22 or a 2019 first-round pick. They didn't want to give up either, and they didn't. They dealt their two second-rounders instead. As for the actual player, it's nice to see that Josh Allen's actions from when he was 14 didn't impact his draft standing. Allen is raw, but he has great arm strength and mobility, which will work well in Buffalo. He also works very hard, so I think he'll be able to work on his accuracy woes. He could have gone as high as No. 6, though more realistically No. 8, so credit the Bills for taking advantage of the opportunity and trading up. Edmunds' athleticism is off the charts, and he has immense potential. He has great versatility as well. The Bills had just one viable player at the position last year (Matt Milano), and Edmunds will certainly change that. Read more: http://walterfootball.com/nfldraftgrades.php?ddl#ixzz5Dplof8iH

A good source from deep within my brain reports that the Pats will trade The Refs + 23 + 31 + 43 + 63 + 95 for #1 overall. They will then select a conglomeration of blood samples taken from all the best aspects of each QB that YOU, dear readers, want in the draft, combine them in the nefarious BALCO Labs to form the G.O.A.T. x 10,000. What proceeds will be a 50 year reign of terror over the AFC East... BUT McBeane will hoodwink The Hoodie by trading JUST 12 + 22 to move to the AFC North, beginning a similar reign of dominance. Part deux of the deal--and the true ingenious move by McBean--will be The Bills trading Kim Pegula for Gisele Bündchen, cementing us as having the hottest owner's wife in the league. Can ANYONE claim to have a better draft-day story? Come at me, bro! ... I love draft season... more drafts, please!

Analysis of the current situation

Props, OP, for having a well-thought out and original take. I, for one, appreciate it! -
Rather than creating the same thread, here's something to consider, while everyone on this board almost categorically has decided Beane needs to be lynched for "letting" the Jets "jump us" for the 3rd pick. It's a little concept called Echo Chamber Thought. Give this a quick listen/read: https://www.npr.org/sections/alltechconsidered/2016/07/24/486941582/the-reason-your-feed-became-an-echo-chamber-and-what-to-do-about-it With that as philosophical context, please read the following article from Walterfootball.com (decidedly NOT a Bills-specific media source): http://walterfootball.com/nfltrades.php All I'm saying is this, folks: at the moment I click "Submit Topic" on this thread, there are 1,021 (and counting) replies to the post entitled "Jets just traded with Colts for #3 pick in first round ". OTHER, well-informed sources (Walter Football just being one) are not saying the Bills have ruined their hopes of a future by "letting" the Jets "jump us" in the draft... Keep in mind, they were ahead of us to begin with. Some folks must think 6 comes after 12... We are our own worst nightmare, guys and gals... We DO NOT know what Donald Rumsfeld once coined "the unknown unknowns" about the trade between the Jets and Colts, and the talks our F.O. had with the Colts, Browns, and Giants (not to mention the Broncos at #5). Rumsfeld, for your reference: PLEASE stop for a moment, pull your heads out of this echo-chamber we all participate in, and BILLieve that the Bills F.O. is NOT Two Bills Drive, The Stadium Wall, or your specific echo-chamber of hive-mind thought! WE DO NOT KNOW if Beane was bluffing or being honest, when he said (in YESTERDAY's presser) that we may not take a QB in the 1st: http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/22793158/buffalo-bills-general-manager-brandon-beane-says-no-guarantee-team-moves-nfl-draft-take-quarterback We've all already forgotten YESTERDAY... Good, dear, sweetbabyjesus, folks... Have faith that our F.O. is working hard to do the best it can, and recognize that we are all only getting up in a tizzy about something we, in our VERY limited and EXCEEDINGLY skewed (by the echo-chamber effect and unknown unknowns) vantage points! We will be alright, guys and gals. I, for one, have faith in McBeane. #endrant

Normally, I would agree, but if you've watched any tape on Love, you would recognize that he is a seriously special talent. I've heard, in an interview, that McCafferty (who was Stanford's RB before Love) even admitted that Love is probably the better back. And where did McCafferty go? 8th... If the talent is there, the player is available, and they may be a generational talent, you take that player. Shady won't be Shady forever. Get Shady V 2.0. Get Bryce Love III!

Pick from the Marcell Dareus Trade
ROCBillsBeliever replied to ROCBillsBeliever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In past years, maybe, but McBeane seems to have a keen nose for finding talented players in later rounds. Plus, we need all the talent they can find. I say keep as many as possible, unless there is a guy McBeane really wants. In a case like that, package some lower rounders to move up and get their guy, like they did last year. -
