lets name some of our 3rd rounders that did start right away Preston Brown Started Washington Started 11 first year Dawkins starter I forgot this was a late second rounder. Prospected to go in third though H. Phillips starter Motor Contributed heavy first year Brown Started the first year 3rd game i think. Should I continue?
-
and yet around 35% of the third rounders started last year. That is a bad narrative.

I think your wrong if you think this guy is just a WR. PASS SNAPS-401 IN-LINE SNAPS-142 SLOT SNAPS-221 His game is in the slot, but do not be delusional that this kid Just plays Slot. He did a lot of good stuff on the LOS as well. Not top end blocking of course not BUT Just because the dude can not run block does not mean he won't at times be lined up on the LOS, chip block then go out to receive. No one is going to ask him to be gronkowski and block DE/EDGE but that does not mean he can not play on the line and help chip then take passes against very good defensive lines. Silliness to think he is just a WR. Those 2023 numbers do not lie.. and by the way, even Kelce spends 15% of his snaps on the offensive line... I expect our guy to be around 20%

That was a knee jerk reaction just like many of us on this pick... HE loves the first 2 and hates this then complains we could not get a mic LB... where in the heck are we going to find that, at that point in the draft? he didnt say he hated it.. he said he did not understand it.. wanted better for the position... You know what you do when you can not get a great player for a position? You creat as much freaking competition for that position in hopes ONE rises to the occasion... Come on man.. MY god... you did the long version of what I have been saying. THANK YOU!

ESPN, NFL Network and USA Today sports analysts love this guy... HE at the very least is a starter in special teams... many think he will excel

And to all those that are still in doom and gloom about the pick? read this https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/bills-get-enormous-steal-in-third-round-of-nfl-draft/ar-AA1awBWf?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=46b0156636804db78e6f338b32f4b176&ei=12 I think its funny, ESPN, NFL Network, Now USA Today and so on think we got a steal in round 3 and a good player. YES GM said he will start at special teams.. START... that does not mean by the time week 2 of preseason the dude wont win a job. In short, because of how fast ILB went in this draft.. we did the best we could. RELAX lol What was more important in the first 2 rounds? A weapon for josh and a likely starter on the line or defense? we can not have star studded players at every position..

reinstall the driver. problem solved. also Upgrade the driver or roll the driver back.. if none of that works then its a mousepad issue.

we were overdue huh mate? lol

its the formations that we can do. My favorite is Bunch formations.. For the sake of confusion all the bunch formations will be on right side of the los. Knox-Kincaid-Davis Tight to the Line of Scrimmage. Davis being a good run blocker, you can throw lots of screens with this and let Cook do his thing. Knox can run a rout or pick up a block. Knox-Kincaid-Diggs more outside the Line. you can do a WR screen run routs. And shift Knox here to the inside when they line up because the QB senses a blitz (Blitzes happens a lot out of bunch formations it seems) The next play you shift Knox on the inside again but both TE run routs anyways. If one tackle or another is struggling with a DE, you put Knox on that side the QB run wheel to the other side giving him more time. You can run 2 TE right next to each other and have both of them do routs.. while having Davis out wide one way and Knox the other. Hell.. you could do a formation where Knox, Davis and Diggs are on one side and Kincaid alone on an Island on the other side creating mismatches, Where people are getting lost... when you have a really good TE in Knox on the field and a Top tier Big Bodied receiver with him... it opens up possibilities and is not just what Kincaid can do, but what Kincaid does for the rest of your roster.

Campbell going in round 1 screwed the pooch.... that was the hardest issue.. This kid is a student of football and that is what McD and Beane love the most about who we drat. our first and second pick specifically shows student of football and can hold their position well. We will see... I wanted OT more than life itself but I have watched a ton of film on this guy.. I think we will be in better shame than some think. Sometimes a draft pick takes warming up to... this is that pick lol we can all assume this and that is just fine... but none of us know including coaching what will happen till they hit the NFL field. Saying this kid is a waste this early, As much as it makes sense.. is to much crystal ball work for me. great start rookie.

Milano was drafted 5th round, 6th round projection 6' 223 ran a 4.67 Williams Drafted in the 3rd round.. Mid fourth round projection 6'1 228 rand a 4.49 I wanted Jones more than life itself.. but sometimes you have to draft for need. it is what it is. Edmunds was slow as hell getting to a flat or exploding to a flat. we got faster. New defensive scheme.. I GET IT... it is what it is.. and I am not going to get to down on this till i see what this turns into. I am not going to be the guy eating crow 6 months from now...

thanks as always for putting this in perspective Shaw. Some teams Rotate ILB and their OLB calls the plays... Could you see that happening this year?
-
I think what you have to understand is.. On that oline it is a huge team effort. Tackles need to rely on guards to do their job. our guards last year did not do their job. You have to depend on who is next to you to block the right man then release to the next man when needed. We struggled with that for last 3 years. How many times was Morse and The RG (whoever it was) double teamed and never released to take the blitz coming in putting the RT in a bad spot. Got to look at the whole picture. Our Oline got a lot better this year..
-
No fourth rounder made it poor. That being said he fills a rotational need at ILB.. There was no real ILB there for us to get that would start for us day 1 after the second round unless we moved up. We will be ok.
-
I think you... along with many of us struggle. But there are going to be many scheme changes this offseason, and instead of playing one ILB its going to be a merry go round of players. ILB will now be run with situational awareness and sometimes that can be just as good and effective as one good player.
-
I like to think cup half full around here... (I really do not think this is a hard ask) If our offense looks like it is running smooth and not choppy deep ball all game, and McD calls the defense as good as we all know he can call it? We may be in for good times this season.. If one side or the other completely fails this season and we get a repeat of last season? Some really good coaches out there if available will be begging to coach this team... Again Cup Half Full! I think we will do great.
-
Keep in mind.. We have a very unique skill set now with Kincaid. We will be able to get silly with different formations and plays that we could not do in the past 4 years. This is an exciting time for me. They are going to be so cued in on what our TE's are doing and where they are? Cook will be able to Cook.. I also said this offseason that I think we run a bit more this season... take those planned running plays away from JA and give them to our RB and then some. Prepare for slightly more balance. 100000% Agree
-
ok.. so this is a copy paste league for a reason... not just in personnel but in playbooks as well. There are so many different plays already written that one does not really need to design plays. What he needs to learn is set up plays that in future downs tricks defenses into thinking you are going one way, and then we go the different direction. Having Kincaid will help with that. The Best question that can not be answered.. Can he create a dynamic playbook with smooth progression of plays throughout the game. I think he does not do it alone, I think he quietly gets outside help like many other OC's do.. I think what we dream of is a offensive playbook like San Fran... That is not happening... but there is plenty of good you can do a step down from that.
-
yep. Klien will play a big roll still on this team against running teams.. I like the obvious changes on this team. New playbook on offense and defense....

again, great job this offseason with scouts.
