  1. He’s definitely a 1 who can play 3. I’m talking about how great of a team player Poona is - Pete Carroll addressed how he’s better playing nose tackle over the ball, but they had to play him out of position last year.
  2. Absolute freak of nature. It’s why I have zero concern about his contract. He certainly looks like he has two good years left in him. Potentially more, once the contract becomes - essentially - a year to year deal. Just a terrible break for us last year, but he’ll be a force again this year once we get him ramped up.
  3. I, personally, want bigger DT’s .. especially with the switch to smaller/faster linebackers. It’s getting harder to justify moving him as free agency goes deeper into the off-season. Which is why I wouldn’t in a hypothetical Patrick Queen swap. Now, would i rather have Ngakoue and whoever the next best available DT in FA is over Oliver?… yes.
  4. Another way to look at it could be our linebacker room for the next few years is mainly: Milano Williams Bernard Spector Matakevich as Special Teams for however long they want to keep him around and AJ Klein/Tyrel Dodson as guys who may or may not be around. As someone who doesn’t think we should be investing heavy at linebacker around Milano… if those 3 can hold it down, 1 at MLB and the other 2 as depth, for the next 3 years of rookie contracts… I don’t hate it.
  5. Bengals Playoff Offense was highly dependent upon pass protection and Burrow being comfortable in the pocket. Ravens and Chiefs played physical outside and got pressure… result = low scoring games. Bills couldn’t get pressure and played off coverage in the elements. The exact opposite of what Ravens/Chiefs did to them. Chiefs offense executes well year round because they have an ELITE short passing game, and a top tier OL. Hopefully we fixed our OL this off-season because it all starts there. Run game, pass game, whatever … if your OL protects the QB at a high level, your offense can perform in any weather.
  6. Where is this “up to 9M” coming from? They have less money than us. I guess I could ask ourselves the same about Poona, but I doubt he’s coming anywhere close to that.
  7. They also signed 36 year old Al Woods today.
  8. That DL was: Shaq - Ankou - Oliver - Rousseau Health permitting, our postseason DL this year will be: Von - Jones/Poona - Oliver - Rousseau Subract Edmunds / Add Von, Daquan and Poona That’s quite the difference in our Front 7
  9. I’ve certainly posted my share of “trade Oliver for …”, but I’m definitely not trading a contract year underperforming yet talented DT for a contract year underperforming yet talented LB. If Oliver booms, that’s of way more significance for us than if Queen came here and had a great year.
  10. I think we’re better this year than last year, but until we prove otherwise, no one should make us Super Bowl favorites. We had two years of front runner status. Managed to have two different types of mental collapse in the Divisional Round. Chiefs and Bengals have shown they can get to the Super Bowl. Gotta get there to win it…
  11. It's an interesting group when viewed through the lens of "speed" -Cook & Hines have top tier speed out of the backfield -Knox & Kincaid have top tier speed at Tight End -Harty is a burner with a sub-4.4 40 time -Shakir, Sherfield & Diggs can win with speed, as all have run in the 4.4's -Davis & Shorter have decent speed for their size/build and are both deep threats in terms of usage and production This offense doesn't have Miami speed, but most teams don't.. what they do have is a pretty solid blend of size and speed .. and at every position on the field. Singletary brought down our team speed on offense quite a bit. Beasley certainly didn't scare anyone in terms of speed. McKenzie has speed, but it's negated a bit by his inability to be a vertical threat. Even on the fringes of the roster... Sherfield and Shorter bring speed to the WR room over a guy like Kumerow or Crowder.
  12. Yea, the CIN loss was so deflating because we looked beyond deficient. I know the mental & physical excuses are somewhat valid, but it felt like KC two years prior, where we were bullied off the field.. except this time we knew we didn't have much in the way of draft capital and FA money to fix it.... Except, somehow, we did.... IOL massively upgraded, both in starting talent and depth Weaponry massively upgraded with Kincaid, Harty, Harris/Murray replacing Singletary, Morris, McKenzie/Beasley. Edmunds is a loss, but with McDermott taking over the Defense and the additions of Poona Ford and Taylor Rapp, I'm far more optimistic about this defense when it matters than I was last year. Nevermind the talent we have coming back off injury.. Von, Hyde and (essentially) Tre White.
  13. If Kincaid can become Kelce-lite as a rookie, then Davis is fine as WR2, but I just haven't seen a skillset from him that resembles that of a high-end WR2 in a pass-heavy offense. Limited route tree and doesn't look fluid enough to run certain routes you'd expect a WR2 to be able to run. If Kincaid becomes our default WR2, then Gabe Davis is a weapon at WR3, given his big play ability. Here's to hoping a healthy Gabe can be more than a deep threat who excels at off-schedule plays and provides the occasional come-back route. That's a nice, high-end WR3 skill set, but we need more from a WR2.
  14. Jets had their chance to be up there with KC, BUF and CIN long term, but lost that opportunity when they won a meaningless game and handed Jacksonville Trevor Lawrence. Due to that franchise altering moment, they had 3 options this off-season: Stick with Wilson. Likely have an elite team around a bad QB. Miss the playoffs. Sign Carr. Become a perennial WC team for the length of his contract. That's it. I don't care how good of a team they could put around Carr, he isn't going to be able to take the Jets through the AFC gauntlet and beat 2 of 3 (Mahomes, Allen, Burrow) in the playoffs to get to the Super Bowl. Sign Rodgers. Take, what they hope to be, a 2 year window at a Super Bowl. Mortgage your franchise future to absord his contract and go for it.. worry about the '25 season when we get there. We see what they've chosen. I can't say they were right or wrong. It's tough though, because they've pushed present and future chips in on a guy who's great, but at-best, the 4th greatest QB in the Conference.
  15. I actually like the pick in a vacuum. He looks like a future MLB here - whether that happens this year, we'll see. Fast, violent, with freakishly long arms. The reason why people hate this pick, is in large part due to the Bernard pick last year. If one of these two step up and lock down the MLB spot, while the other provides solid depth, you'll see minds change pretty quickly.
  16. Outside of the Bills/Chiefs 13 seconds game, 2 of the last 3 Bills playoff exits were due, in large part, to them simply getting bullied off the field. It happened in KC 3 years ago, and again against CIN, at home, in our elements, of all things. Enter McDermott, Torrence, Kincaid, Shorter, Harris, Murray, Ford... Exit Frazier, Saffold, Edmunds, Singletary, McKenzie, Beasley... We'll see how it translates, but this team looks much different "getting off the bus".
  17. I think we're pretty well stocked beyond this year, in terms of multi-year contracts, at: EDGE - Von, Rousseau, Basham LB - Milano, Williams, Bernard, Spector (I do think Williams could become a good MLB here, eventually) CB - Tre, Elam, Benford, Johnson OT - Dawkins, Brown, Doyle IOL - Morse, McGovern, Torrence, Bates TE - Knox, Kincaid WR - Diggs, Harty, Shakir, Shorter RB - Cook QB - Allen DT and S jump off the page as positions that will need future investment after this year, with EDGE, OT, WR and RB looking like they will need some financial and/or draft resources as well. Morse and Tre are my wild cards after this year, depending on how they perform this year. At DT, I'd love to extend Jones and then get a look at Poona Ford to see if he's the second piece we extend. Phillips, Settle and Oliver after this year.. meh, we'll see.
  18. Oh, so now appreciating Tucker being the one dissenting voice left in media is “cult”… You realized most of the libertarian/conservative/indies here aren’t big Trump fans, so now it’s the “Tucker cult” Unlike some of you, I’ve readily admitted I don’t agree with everything people I like say, just like I don’t agree with everything Russell Brand, Joe Rogan, Tim Dillon etc say.., but I can appreciate their unique stand, as incredibly influential figures, against the mainstream. These leaks, and this quote doesn’t make Tucker look bad .. it simply reinforces what a lot of people knew about him … he’s condescending and smug, but far more thoughtful than any of his peers in cable news. He says what others won’t … I guarantee you Joy Reid, Rachel Maddow, Joe Scarborough, Chris Hayes etc., feel the same way when they see the reverse … they just aren’t self reflective enough to put into words what Tucker said. Look at the disdain they treat J6 folks with.
  19. To the “pay Ed Oliver” crowd .. Does it not concern you that we apparently need a 1-2 rotation of above average 1T’s next to Oliver to, hopefully, unlock his potential? If he goes off, great … that’s not someone you pay. That’s a luxury we won’t be able to afford.
  20. “Aaron Rodgers go to every New York sporting event challenge”
  21. Maybe. I just don’t like his fit on our defense. If we’re going with a fast, undersized, more attacking style defense (which it seems like we are) I’d much rather have monster DT’s up front.. not another undersized guy taking a ton of snaps.
  22. Obviously I’m getting into Madden mode, but why not go big or go home at DT … allow our linebackers to fly around behind Jones, Poona, Phillips & Al Woods. Id make that trade in a second and swap out undersized Ed with another big DT. Now, why would Arizona want two guys on the last year of their rookie deal?… no clue.
  23. Sal was just on and said he’s basically a 4-3 1 or 3 tech. Can occupy a block, but isn’t a 2 gap space eater. Is definitely more of a penetrating tackle. Seems like a guy that can rotate with and/or pair with Jones.
  24. I’d entertain trading Oliver if it means being able to afford our choice of FA EDGE or a Hopkins trade, but other than that, I’ve come around to seeing what Oliver can do in a contract year now that we’ve got Jones & Ford for him to pair with. Im not even sure how we’re affording Poona Ford, but maybe he’s truly taking a one year prove it deal that doesn’t require all kinds of void year nonsense.
