  1. Welp… I suppose I’ll spend all Memorial Day Weekend dreading any headlines that say “We’ve agreed to terms with Quinnen Williams…”
  2. Shaq didn’t play with Hop, but both are in Clemson often. I’m sure they’ve crossed paths quite a bit. Im pretty sure Hop is in Clemson right now actually. His IG story is at a farmers market about 10 minutes from the university.
  3. Bills haven’t had the 1 seed. No bye week. No full home slate. No easier post-season opponents. Mahomes has never played a playoff road game. At the very least.. this helps us get the one seed, which is clearly a massive advantage. Bills ‘23 Path to the Super Bowl: Dolphins Bengals Chiefs (neutral) If we were the 1 seed: Bye Jaguars Chiefs (home)
  4. Actually, yes, I very much do think that. Trump’s policies were viewed pretty favorably pre-covid, and despite all the noise, most political pundits thought he would likely win re-election. Then covid happened. DeSantis, if he’s simply a Trump policy clone, is the tamped down version that brings back moderate R’s and suburban moms, along with the added bonus of being viewed as strong on covid response … whereas that likely lost Trump the election and is his biggest weak spot in the R primary.
  5. Bills have to get this done. We know he wants to come here .. and while he has mentioned other options .. I’m sorry, the fact he mentions Buffalo/Allen so frequently and always first when asked, means something. We have, hopefully/potentially, two more high level years from Diggs, Von, Tre, Hyde & Poyer. Maybe more, maybe less, but hopefully we can get two more years like that with all five together. Then we will be looking at, not rebuilding, but retooling the roster a good bit. Add Hopkins to the mix. Kincaid may be the future, but we don’t have to count on a rookie, in this Super Bowl window, by making an obvious move. If it’s about money, and he signs with some random team, so be it … but if he’s down to Bills, Chiefs, Ravens, Jets etc…
  6. So you admit that, outside of abortion, Republicans typically have the majority public support in the culture wars as they seep further and further into American politics. Even in a blue state. Thank you for making my point.
  7. Very different. Large black populations relative other races in NC/GA. Texas is heavily Latino, and Republicans make inroads further and further with them in every election. I’ll have to delve further into NC to see what their trends are, but I spend half my time in Atlanta and know a good bit about GA politics. Republicans have a pretty sizable advantage in terms of voters in Georgia. Kemp beat the heavily funded Stacy Abrams by 8 points.. even after enacting the heartbeat bill. Republicans have overwhelming control of both chamber in the state house. Where Georgia has appeared purple is due to Donald Trump. He has created a visible schism between rural Georgia Trump voters and the more traditional Republican suburban Atlanta/Buckhead voters. Due to this, not only did Trump lose the state as the black population (led by black women) is EXTREMELY motivated, while suburban/Buckhead R’s stayed home … they also lost two senators. Both R senators won their elections on election night, as Trump lost the state. However, Georgia runoff laws came into play leading to special elections in both cases. Ever since then, Trump has injected himself into the races both by convincing his rural voters that the election was stolen …. They then stayed home, allowing Warnock and Ossoff to win. And if that wasn’t enough, he then endorsed Walker over more traditional R’s, which led to Walker winning, which led to suburban/Buckhead R’s staying home, which led to an extremely unpopular Raphael Warnock to beat the only R challenger he had a chance at beating. Which leads me to the primary. Trump would be in danger, again, of losing Georgia in the general … and it will be very interesting to see what role Kemp plays if the Georgia Primary becomes pivotal as Trump tried to primary Kemp with a reluctant David Perdue out of spite for Kemp’s actions in the Georgia recount. Kemp currently has around a 62% approval rating in Georgia, and has focused heavily on making inroads with black men, who voted in high enough numbers for him to send the Georgia Democratic Coalition into a panic that still exists in the state amongst those in the party.
  8. You’re right. Republicans cannot compete if they focus on the culture wars. Remind me how well Gov McCauliffe is doing in blue state Virginia?
  9. Y’all keep saying that and it never happens. Abbott beat Beto by 11 points and Republicans make further inroads with Hispanics every election.
  10. Nor can the Jets, Ravens or Chiefs … and he’s likely not signing with anyone who isn’t a contender, so…
  11. “Most Californians are moving to Texas” (one of the reddest states in the country) OWNED!
  12. Weather in CA is actually nicer.. less humidity and without the random afternoon downpours half of the year. Also, they have mountains in addition to their coastline.. just a beautiful landscape. It’s clear to everyone why people are moving to Florida en masse, but we can all play pretend I suppose.
  13. There’s abortion-related funding issues the President can address, such as the Helms Amendment. But, in regards to what the Supreme Court decided on abortion law, it’s up to the states now. I haven’t heard DeSantis asked about this from a federal perspective, so it will be interesting to hear how he addresses it.
  14. It is .. and he should make it know as such. Republicans, thus far, seem incapable of conveying that. If DeSantis just comes out and says it’s a states rights issue now and he won’t legislate as President on this issue, there’s really nothing to debate. Trump was asked about this in his CNN Town Hall and went all word salad and said he’d do something that everyone would like .. which on this issue is impossible .. and unnecessary coming from the Presidential office.
  15. Right wing position below (long thread)
  16. DeSantis typically picks the 70/30 culture war topics. He’ll have to message a federal position on abortion as he took the “30” position on an six week ban at his state level, but as far everything else goes … most R’s, Independents and even some moderate D’s agree with him. He also won 60% of Hispanics in Florida. If that comes close at all to translating nationwide - should he make it to the General - it’s a wrap.
  17. Literally do not care. Biden has the big banks in his back pocket. You don’t seem too worried about that. I want someone who can win. And someone who, if he wins, will crush the lefts stranglehold on institutions and corporations. Cry about Republican “free market” hypocrisy all you want … I’m not a Republican. I want someone who will light fire to our corrupt institutions and scatter the ashes of corporations that wish to be political advocacy groups, begging for higher DEI & ESG scores (which is simply the lefts way of controlling them - something you seem worried about coming from the right). I don’t know if DeSantis will follow through on all that, but he’s the best chance we’ve got .. with a track record in Florida of keeping people safe, providing them with opportunities for prosperity, freedom from covid tyranny and not allowing corporations and activists to push values on the culture that are in direct opposition to most of my beliefs.
  18. He must have some pulse given his unprecedented fundraising ability. Both small and large donors believe in him, which says something any way you slice it. He’s also expected to have one of, if not the, largest on-the-ground organized get out the vote operation in modern history. He does need to work on being less robotic at times, but he has it in him..
  19. It’s all very online stuff, but if anyone knows who Christina Pushaw is … I guess they were waiting until DeSantis made it official .. she ratio’ing Trump influencer accounts nonstop.
  20. Seeing clips of DeSantis from various appearances today.. VERY different approach. Going directly at Trump. In every line of attack, he compliments the DJT the base fell in love with on a topic, but points out how Trump’s no longer that guy. Then goes further by saying that he’ll finish what Trump said he would.
  21. So… do we have to change our name too?
