They went to the Kyle Pitts school of team building.

McDermott is definitely weird about Elam. His answers whenever asked about Kaiir come across like he’s beyond annoyed to have to talk about him.

Benford’s coverage metrics have been elite. Tre was solid. We know the staff loves Dane Jackson, and if he could ever develop any semblance of ball skills, he’d be a coveted corner given his run defense and sticky coverage. It’s not out of the realm of possibilities that Elam has simply been beat out by 3 good players. The bright side is that Elam has the highest ceiling, traits-wise, of anyone in this secondary, even before Tre went down. The downside is that, even with his above average performances in big moments last year, the staff doesn’t trust him yet. He’s one of the more talented players on this defense, but on a unit that requires you to be a cog, he’s used to going man up and it seems the staff is struggling to coach that out of him.

Tre White Injury Updates (Torn Achilles now confirmed)
SCBills replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
With how Jones/Oliver are playing, I’d be tempted to rest him this week and roll with Floyd, Epenesa, Lawson and Jonathan. Just like they potentially did with Poyer/Rapp this past week.. trust your depth. It’s a long season. AJ seems to have made the jump, and I’d be open to giving him his shot in the spotlight. Then if we’re targeting Week 6 for Von, we can hopefully buy another couple weeks for Rousseau, if need be. -
After 4 games, I still have no idea what to make of him. He has a role in this league. He has to be one of the more prolific big play receivers out there, but I can’t help but wonder what this offense could look like with a WR2 that can simply run a complete route tree, consistently, with a moderate level of separation.

Tre White Injury Updates (Torn Achilles now confirmed)
SCBills replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ramsey was not the main reason for that. Von was a menace. It was the pass rush with Miller, Donald and Floyd. -
Low key big moment of the game… AJ Epenesa dog-walking Armstead back and then launching him into the pile.. leading to him re-aggravating an injury and not returning.

Tre White Injury Updates (Torn Achilles now confirmed)

It just feels, to me, like the era of elite cornerback game-changing play has faded. Who even are the game-changing corners anymore? Diggs? Gets burned but makes plays. Done for the year. Ravens have had good corners. Always hurt. Chiefs don’t care. They let them walk. Bengals best corner last year, Owuzie. Done for the year. Working his way back this year. Ramsey, currently injured. Who knows what he’ll be when he comes back. Surtain is nice. Not nice enough to make a difference on that defense.. clearly. Sauce Gardner seems like the one guy from a now-gone era, that can (somewhat) affect a game… and we know he straddles the line when it comes to physical play. -
Brandon Beane…..you have to bring in a Corner.
SCBills replied to Walking Tall's topic in The Stadium Wall
The talent on the boundary isn’t any different than what other contenders like KC, CIN (?), BAL, MIA etc have. Miami gets Ramsey back, but we’ll see what he even is later this year. I’m not sold he’ll be much of a difference maker for them at any point this year. Im not opposed to flipping a pick for a piece before the deadline, but I’d hope we have what we need in house, given what we’ve seen in Benford/Jackson and the traits of Elam. -
Tre White Injury Updates (Torn Achilles now confirmed)

I don’t want to come across as insensitive, but I’m starting to view CB’s like I do RB’s. Just draft ones that fit your scheme every year and keep your depth well stocked. Chiefs have been dominating the league and aren’t exactly paying corners. The Bucs defense that dominated Mahomes in the Super Bowl did it with their DL and LB’s, not so much a high priced secondary. With McDermott and his ability to coach up corners, just give me a bunch of Dane Jackson/Christian Benford’s and pair them up with a ferocious, heavily invested in, Defensive Line. -
Tre White Injury Updates (Torn Achilles now confirmed)

Yup. It's honestly awful to have to entertain this conversation, but would people rather have Tre White coming back, at some point next year, at who knows what level, for 16M or cut him, take on 10M in dead cap and use the 6M towards Floyd or Jones... -
Absolutely gross that the official NFL IG page is promoting KC/Taylor Swift. Jets fans are, justifiably, going off on them.

I just don't think that's feasible when we can save 6M by cutting him.. unfortunately. -
After last year... and now we've already lost Tre for the season, I don't want to hear about injuries from other teams. Especially tired of the Joe Burrow stuff, given Allen played half of last year with an injury to his throwing elbow.

I feel confident in Benford, Jackson and Elam, with McDermott coaching them up and this Defense. However I absolutely feel gutted for Tre White. It's hard to not wonder if that was the last time we saw him in a Bills uniform given the injury and his contract/cap savings this off-season. Let's all hope we win a ring, of course, but also so if this is the last year we see Hyde, Poyer and White back there... they all go out Super Bowl Champions. Absolute legends that will forever be remembered by all of us.- 436 replies

My guess (and hope) is that Elam gets the start moving forward with Benford. I think the staff loves having Jackson as a depth piece.. a guy who is a solid starter when called upon. Benford and Elam have traits though. Benford, size and physicality. Elam, speed and twitch. That being said.. I could see them starting Jackson in London, given the unique circumstances and an opposing offense that can take shots down the field. However, I think sooner, rather than later, they bet on upside and give Elam a chance to win it on the field. -
There isn’t one team, currently, that comes close to the constant close game ref issues as the Chiefs. It happens here and there, with a different team one night and maybe another a few weeks later. It’s just constant with Kansas City. And most opposing fanbases notice it. …it’s now a running joke on Twitter/X anytime they play a big game.

I ****ing hate Collinsworth so much
-
Refs ruined what should be a great ending. Just like they did in the Super Bowl.
-
Refs bail the Chiefs out and Collinsworth finds a way to praise Mahomes over it. Amazing
-
Do the Jets have some weird hypnosis they put on elite QB’s?…

Elam a healthy scratch part deux (now part TRES) (now part QUATRO)
SCBills replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
On the bright side, Elam now has a full season to get it together. If he does… we become incredibly well set up for the future. -
Going to be mind numbing all season how we lost to this team.. That said, it was a very different team. Salah never led that team. Rodgers did. They played for him on that one night and the team has clearly given up on the current leadership.

If Oliver looked like this last year, you could probably attach another 5-6M per year to his price tag.
