  1. Unless they’re giving Jeudy away for a 6th, I think it would be reckless to offer anything of substance for him right now. Beane needs to find out if a move needs to be made at LB and/or CB before the trade deadline. I’d throw in DT, but I believe McDermott when he says Poona is a good player and it was just a numbers game with him being solely a 1T. A Jeudy trade, as opposed to a trade for a vet 1 year guy also makes thing kinda awkward with Davis.
  2. “Do you like Huey Lewis and the News” -Terry Pegula, probably
  3. We’re certainly in a strange spot where offense is the least of our concerns, yet is the reason we lost two games. Im not saying that condescendingly.. I agree. However, facts are facts, and even with all the injuries, our defense did what was needed for us to (easily) beat Jacksonville, if not for our second horrible offensive performance of the year.
  4. I'm not going to make proclamations about Elam and Williams when Elam has been inactive for 4 weeks and then gets put on an island against Calvin Ridley over in London. Same for Dorian Williams, thrown into action, in London. That entire game, from start to finish, from jump.. travel included.. was a dumpster fire. Let me see what they look like over these next few weeks. To claim we can't win a Super Bowl when our Defense still consists of Von, Rousseau, Oliver, Floyd and Epenesa on the DL is a take that I refuse to buy into. We had a chance to be 49ers East. That isn't the case now.. but you can't convince me that the Chiefs, Bengals, Dolphins, Ravens etc., have more talent on their Defenses than we do. Therefore, to conclude we are no longer a Super Bowl team, imo, means you don't have faith in our Offense. Because if our Offense wasn't so high variance and inconsistent, we'd be 5-0 and feeling confident we can overcome these injuries. And honestly, I wouldn't argue with that. I am extremely frustrated with our Offense.. and they are nowhere near consistent enough to get the 1 seed, let alone give me the confidence that they can perform at a high level for consecutive games needed to get to the Super Bowl. Thankfully, they are the healthy side, and that can certainly change as we progress further into the season.
  5. Dodson is a limited backup because he's a backup. Dorian Williams is a limited backup because he's a rookie and needs to develop/gain experience. One provides baseline play for the year. The other has the chance to grow and become better as the season goes on.
  6. Would not be surprised by something like this at all. Poona Ford replaces Daquan Jones Dorian Williams/Tyrel Dodson replace Matt Milano We have a 2nd year, former RD1 pick at CB3. McDermott hasn't shut the door on Jones/Milano coming back later this season. We could trade for a double team eating 1T, but we already have one. I highly doubt we're trading away a significant asset for someone better than Poona Ford. We could trade for an OLB, but we drafted one with a Top 100 pick. CB is where I could see a move being made, but that would only come if they're ready to give up on Kaiir Elam.
  7. I want to see Elam and Williams starting on Sunday Night. *Assuming Benford is not 100% I don't believe Kaiir Elam is as bad as he looked in his first playing time this season, in London, against Calvin Ridley. We need to know if we have a reliable, competent CB in him moving forward. I'll be pretty disappointed if we start Dodson. KC plays their young guys and by the end of the season are better for it. Dodson may be slightly better today, but Dorian Williams has the traits/skills, that if developed over the course of the season, could actually get us to a point where LB is still a strength by the time the playoffs come around.
  8. Pretty sure I remember Watt being a beast against us in that game.
  9. Nope. I’m just pointing out that what BLMChicago posted is not support of Palestinians… it’s hatred of Jews. Honestly, I’m not sure what is so difficult for you to understand about that tweet. It’s basically someone posting “I stand with Afghanistan” with a picture of two planes hitting the towers.
  10. How did Hamas attack the festival? ….or are Palestinians just known for their love of recreational paragliding?
  11. This is what someone who hates Jews posts. Not someone supporting Palestinians.
  12. We have enough impact talent on Defense. If I'm the Bills, I'm looking at scheme fit / solid players at 1T, LB and CB. Vets that can be had for any of the Day 3 picks we have banked up and/or a player for player swap of Kaiir Elam if we can find a reliable zone CB3. No need, imo, to make any blockbuster trades on defense.
  13. Well this thread is a let down.
  14. We lost him week of the Bengals game. We had no other 1T’s to fill in. We were a mentally depleted team. No Von, no Hyde, Poyer shouldn’t have played, Tre was a shell of himself… hard to extrapolate that game to this season.
  15. This. Beginning next year, the defense should be built around Oliver, Rousseau, Epenesa, Bernard, Milano and Benford. Von is still in the mix for, at least, next year. We can have discussions about Floyd and Jones. Bills will likely fill in with some cheap vets who want to play for a contender. But it's time to cycle out the OG's next season (White, Hyde and Poyer). On offense, Gabe ain't it at WR2. He's the Tremaine Edmunds on that side of the ball. We need to invest a high pick opposite Diggs. Outside of WR2, we're in very good position over the next few years on that side of the ball.
  16. I think Mia Khalifa is pretty good representation of the “support” for Palestine. Righteous sympathy for Palestinians mixed with pure hatred of Jews. I support the innocent Palestinians. I think they’ve been oppressed by the Israeli govt and rejected by their Muslim brothers & sisters in other countries. The protests/rallies we saw in the immediate aftermath of the Hamas terror attacks were based more in hatred of Jews, not support of Palestinians.
  17. This is evil that we’ve never before seen in the technology age. It’s existed since the dawn of man, but never before has it been exploited by those perpetuating the evil. I have sympathy for the innocent Palestinians.. I have no f****ing clue why now is the time for people to protest/cheer in support of Palestine, days after we witnessed the furthest depths of evil that the human spirit is capable of. Actually… I do know why…. It’s hatred of Jews. Not support of Palestine.
  18. He honestly keeps getting good PFF grades. I don't really notice him out there either, aside from a chase down of Tua 2 weeks ago, but whoever evaluates him over there likes something they keep seeing.
  19. Agreed. I guess I am more speaking to those who suddenly have Jones as "the one guy we can't lose".
  20. How would you feel in the situation was reversed? And we lost the guy who's 3rd in pressures and 2nd in sacks from the DT position. Who's young and only getting better in McDermott's Defense? I only ask because 32 out of 32 NFL teams would take Oliver over a healthy Jones if they could take one player for this year. We are reacting based on the loss of Jones, but what if we lost Oliver in his place? Would you feel better about that?
  21. The Offense next year returns, basically, the entire OL plus the depth.. Josh Allen.. Diggs, Cook, Knox, Kincaid, Shakir & Harty. They'll really only need a WR2, and that can be an instant impact player if taken early in the draft. The Defense.. honestly.. it's time. It's probably past time, to move on from the OG's. Poyer and Hyde are fine. Not great, not bad, they are fine. This should be their last year here. Tre White.. I'm sorry, but the 6M we can save by cutting him should go towards extending Epenesa. The upcoming Draft, on a quick way too early glance, looks to be one that should go WR early and then heavy Defense. I'm not convinced getting younger on Defense next year won't make us better by the end of next season. I hope we win it all for Hyde, Po, Gabe & White this season.. but they've run their course here. Gabe, I can hear an argument to keep him, but not at the expense of AJE.
  22. We're getting to a point where the season ending injuries on defense have GOT to stop.. That being said, if we can get to the end of the season with: Von/Floyd Poona/Settle Oliver/Phillips Rousseau/AJE Bernard/Dodson Williams/Dodson Johnson/Neal Benford/Elam Jackson/Elam Poyer/Rapp Hyde/Rapp That is still a Championship caliber defense. There is still the hope Milano and/or Jones can get back for the Playoffs. If 1T is an issue. If OLB is an issue. If CB depth is an issue. The trade deadline doesn't pass for a few more weeks. We have a couple weeks to see if Poona Ford and Dorian Williams can be the in-house answers. Elam is not as bad as he showed in London. He was arguable our best defensive player in the playoffs last year. That said.. his performance, in a weird London setting, was beyond poor. If that's the Elam we now have due to his lack of development, mental issues and/or struggles in McD's system... a move needs to be made, because we cannot have that on one side of the field. That's a fatal flaw in the defense. The youth movement is real. The Bills will have to decide after this season whether or not they're ready to embrace it. Embracing it likely means this is the last year White, Hyde and Poyer are on the Bills roster.
  23. These responses are becoming comical. -Bills signed Poona Ford as a depth 1T. He's not Daquan Jones.. Most teams don't have a player like that just sitting around as depth. -Bills drafted a RD3 LB to backup, perhaps, the easiest position on the defense to play. He's not All-Pro Matt Milano, but he was a Top 100 pick at a position that translates quickly to the NFL. -Outside CB, I'm worried about after Benford & Jackson. I don't trust our depth at all now. If our Offense doesn't figure out how to not have random games where they don't show up.. we're not winning a Super Bowl regardless of who's on this Defense. But on this Defense, we still have the potential of getting to a point this season where our DL consists of Von Miller, Greg Rousseau, Leonard Floyd, AJ Epenesa and Ed Oliver. Most fanbases would laugh at you and tell you to shut up when complaining about Defensive talent after those names are rattled off. We had the potential to rival the 49ers for best defense in the league. That's likely not happening now. Tell me what AFC Defenses are more talented than ours, even in our current state? Bills have comparable talent on Defense to the Browns, Bengals, Steelers, Chiefs etc.., Jacksonville just made our Offense look like a JV team with one good pass rusher, a couple run stuffing DT's, a good linebacker, one good CB and one good Safety. They did the same thing to Kansas City. It would be GREAT to have 49ers East. We don't have that anymore. What we do have is a defense on par with most of the other defenses associated with top teams in the AFC. Miami fans don't seem to be crying because they Defense looked incompetent against our Offense. Because they are confident in their Offense. If we had reason to be confident in our Offense, we'd be 5-0. Not 3-2, with posts like yours littering the board. As much as the defensive injuries sting right now. Our Offensive woes in 2 games are why we feel this way about the Defense.
  24. Oh, I definitely agree Benford and Jackson are the starters, whenever Benford gets back... but we need to know we have some semblance of competent depth. After what I saw from Elam, I don't know if we have that. I know he's capable.. he played well last year when given opportunities against the Chiefs and Dolphins. Heck, he may have been our best defensive players in the playoffs last year.. but this year has been bizarre and I'm worried about him being mentally reliable when called upon.
