  1. Its not pounds, its general height and speed and pounds. Flutie could outrun some 240 lb bruiser LB from 25 years ago. Those guys can get on the field anymore!!! Today's LBs could outrun his 40 time and beat him in agility. That's what I mean. That was where he excelled and got loose. Add the new size guys like Van Der Esch and Edmunds and these super quick DEs that are in the Bruce Smith mold and he wouldn't last long.
  2. Just curious but what are you a big fan of? I really don't see a high motor on the kid and he plays end in a pass rush league yet has done very little to show pass rush skills. I am certainly rooting for him as a fan but I just haven't seen much to make me an optimist. He certainly isn't twitchy like Jerry to make me think he will suddenly find his pass rush skills. Honestly not ripping you, just wondering what I am missing that some others may be seeing.
  3. So the moment Mitch is cleared can we just get rid of Bodine and call it a failed experiment. He is just downright bad... Maybe that is why he has already left his best season behind him and doesn't continually improve. It starts with practice focus. Surprised Rivera puts up with that. Sorry but this was intended for another thread and keep defaulting here!!!
  4. Oliver: Easy to talk trash with that sissy red jersey on....if you see me on Friday it's gonna hurt for real!!!
  5. also....what if PFF is right and Ty's grade really does make him a Top 10 type RT? Doesn't he give us a chance to get our best 5 on the field and for what cost, 1 year of a great pass rush on great defense at the expense of a mediocre offense.
  6. I would cut Bodine now! Surprises --- I am on the DiMarco and Yarbrough are gone thought.
  7. I don't view any of those as a surprise personally.
  8. Run = B- , Pass = D In My book His only improvement in the pass game is batted balls because he doesn't get there!
  9. There is no way Flutie survives the size of today. Edmunds is the new MLB not the SLOW guys he would run by. Ed Oliver could catch him for christ's sake! The Flutie worship is so over the top!!!
  10. I would do that if he has 2-3 years left on a deal BUT I am not sold on a guy that we have to hand $20 plus million/yr to for a guy who has never hit double digit sacks. He would be awesome paired with Jerry for a few years though. I would much rather we spend $20 million on an elite offensive talent because we need that more and this game is won on offense!
  11. 2nd year is only 1.5 guaranteed against cap and 3rd year is a total walk with no cap hit...so Beane's version of a 3 year deal always has escape clauses....... You can't get a water boy for that in today's NFL.
  12. On third downs I watched Oliver exclusively and he was tossing Nelson around, so from a pure pass rush standpoint he looked really good.
  13. Great point. I haven't lived in Buffalo since the 90s. All I heard then was Kelly throws too many picks, Kelly doesn't get along with Thurman, Kelly is overrated, they party too much, etc So times never change..... people are often only happy when there is success that they haven't tasted for awhile. Hopefully that is soon for us Bills fans.
  14. 36-37 home (I can’t quite remember 1 ) and 7 road games. Haven’t lived in the area in 25 years so that limits my attendance.
  15. You are crazy if you think Buffalo bars can support 70,000 people for 8-10 days a year... Atlanta, Chicago, etc are cities with giant metro populations that can sustain those bars and restaurants year round. Buffalo can not, it’s just not big enough.
  16. 1979 Opener against the Fins as a kid. We blocked a FG and ran it back for our only TD. Sunny first half and torrential downpour in the 2nd half. We lose 9-7 on a last second FG miss by Dempsey. Painful way to lose but the next year I got to see the tear down tha goalpost Miami game and break the super long Miami losing streak. I remember the crowd noise for the last 2 minutes of that game was like we had won the Super Bowl...
  17. Having a football message board evaluate relationships or politics is just not right IMO.....
  18. The funny thing about this original post is suggesting his worth of a 4th or 5th round pick. In today’s NFL a no name WR has no value other than in a trade for a similar limited value player. Heck, Shady may not even fetch a 3rd rounder these days and he is awesome relative to Zay.
  19. The big question is how much land is there for parking & tailgating. The tailgate experience in OP is great because of the open and expansive parking. I have a feeling that the parking will become a series of choppy lots and maybe even some multi story garages like it is in many cities. That stinks. There is little reason to stick it there because it has no sweeping vista of the water. I really don’t get that idea for those 2 reasons. Keep it in OP and build the new stadium right next to the old one. For one or two seasons you may have to have a creative parking solution but it could be done without having the Bills have to play at some second tier stadium like the Chargers did.
  20. While I agree with every team you list , I think The Ravens and Bengals fans think they are playoff caliber and ahead of the Bills.
  21. One would think we keep 7 if we intend to play spread and DiMarco could be replaced by an H Back. I’m guessing Lee Smith could be it. He certainly could be used as an I form FB if that won’t be a primary set.
  22. I have a new daily favorite read!!!! Nice job!
  23. We used to be a national exposure team when we were awesome, its just been too long so we don't remember it much anymore and it happened to be before the days of fantasy football, NFL network, Thursday night games, etc..... beat NE once this year and win on Thanksgiving and suddenly we could be shown more national games....
  24. I wasn't excited, yet wasn't surprised, watching Shaq Lawson looking totally gassed trying to slowly walk up Camelback mountain. He doesn't seem like a finely tuned athlete for a guy fighting for a contract.....
  25. Normally I don't really care about practice comments much until week 3 of the preseason but I have to admit the OL battle and all the new WRs make this an interesting preseason for once...
