Team sport. The marginal improvement at Qb does not make up for the defense and special teams blunders. These games are not Allen Mahomes 1 on 1.
-
Trade Allen for Mahomes does what exactly? Qb is not the reason Buffalo hasn't won a Superbowl in the last 4 years.
-
Buffalo was just incredibly unfortunate that Rapp and Benard got hurt when they did. They play the defense gets a few more stops and probably win. Buffalo is 4th in Superbowl odds for a reason. Mcdermott is a part of that. Watching teams that on Buffalos best day would beat is a tough pill to swallow. Though that same thought is why I am optimistic for next season.

Brady was an outside hire 2 years ago. When Daboll left Doursey was promoted they brought in Brady. An offensive assistant under Sean Payton. Passing game coordinator for Burrows hiesman/natty run. Had a rough stint in Carolina but since Tepper took over that place looks like a dumpster fire. Mind you both Beane and Mcdermott were hired as interns. They both started at the bottom of buildings and moved up. They will lean into that vs going outside.

The Bills' abject lack of a deep middle passing game
Mat68 replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
A lot of nothing heading into next season. Year over year deep passing is like projecting turnover margin. I would like to see Buffalo load up on offense. Get great on offense. Vs the be good at both. Mcdermott will have to Mcgiver his defense with lower FA and late day 2 and day 3 picks. -
So you know how bad it can be. Realistically, Buffalo were untimely injuries to Benard, Rapp and Benford away from beating KC. With all that they were a few dropps and a missed 45 yard FG away. Your right its failed fire everyone and it might be better but probably worst.

They won their division 4 years in a row. I know division titles and Wildcard wins are not the goal but they havent been failures. Mcdermotts defense has been top half of the NFL most years top 5 or 10 so his defensive philosophy is sound. We are yet to see Bradys offense. He showed good play calling prowess so there is optimism there. Have you followed the Bills for more than 5 years? This was what everyone wanted during the drought years. Every year being on the short list to win it all. Here we are. Buffalo has top 5 Superbowl odds next year and we now need a entire new Philosophy?

Complaining about staff hires is simply yelling at clouds.
-
Who are they bringing in with Superbowl pedigree? McDaniels? His offenses have been below average without Brady.
-
Why does it matter? The idea is promote from with in at every business. Unless a department is failing than you may look for outside resources. Buffalo has had good offenses and good defenses. The front office is highly regarded. Why not hire individuals who are being looked at by your competitors?
-
Sherrfield was a solid signing. Didnt work out but a number 3 on two very good offenses previously. I would like to see 2 similar level vets. And older and younger guy and 2 drafted rookies.
-
So who are the available defensive assistants that are so much better than who they hired? Who are the available co ordinators better than Babich and Brady? People wild. Give me young coordinators over old retreads.
-
I think poor weather has an impact for them. Tougher environments to throw in. He was a few deep shots connecting to this not being a story. The emergence of the run game creeped into Diggs volume. Imo Diggs is a volume wr more possession leaning with some big play ability.
-
I like the flyer but wouldnt rely on him. He had juice but we will see what is left after his injuries.
-
I like Davis too. Idk depends on how everything falls. They have 2 backs on the roster. A cost controlled young back imo makes alot of sense. I think any point on day 3 its in play.
-
Need? No. I would consider it 3rd and after. A bigger back with some juice.

Analysis of How Defenses are Shutting Down Passing Offenses
Mat68 replied to Old Coot's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ayuik was a first rd I believe. Added with 2nd rder Samuel. Better players is always better. The offense just needs to be able to attack the openings a defense provides. Whether it be the slot, seems, outside, middle third etc. As currently constructed they are able to most of that. Allens arm creates unique windows. Having a bit more juice outside starts putting defenses in difficult spots. A late day 2 early day 3 bigger back would be a very good paring. Pretty much Latavius Murray from 5-7 years ago. -
With the struggles of Johnson, and Burke the year prior I suspect he slips to day 2. All a little shorter and I suspect timed slower than initially thought.

Daniel Jeremiah top 50 prospects . Who are the Bills drafting?
Mat68 replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would like Buffalo to double dip WR and S. -
I see the want for size. I do to but they have to be able to separate first. For me a red flag is on a 5 min highlight tape they do not separate outside once. Busted coverage or jump ball is a pass from me.

Gunner's 2024 Mock Draft - FINAL v3.0 NOW LIVE (p.13)
Mat68 replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Seems like a project not an immediate starter. I have faith in McBeane when it comes to dbs so I would get behind it if they ultimately went that way. From my limited information he doesn't sound like their type of guy early. -
Interested to see what his offense looks like and what his vision of player packages and formations are. You could see a change in the offense when he took over.
-
I do like both. I would like to see them walk away with either than add another in the middle rounds.
