Devin Bush is the linebacker yo replace edmunds
Mat68 replied to kirkwoodus13's topic in The Stadium Wall
Young player with upside or squeeze the last year or too from a vet like Wagner? Either way Mike will be in play early in the draft. -
Anyone just sit back and appreciate it?
Mat68 replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
Enjoy the ride. I respect Beanes approach. Get guys with potential that can become difference makers. Poyer and Hyde were were similar signings to that of Mcgovern and Harty. Many want names but those are the signings that never pay off. Get a plug and play linebaker a cheap cheap early down back than onto the draft. The biggest splash was resigning Po. Im ok with that. -
Could Beane use his sorcery to get Dalvin Cook?
Mat68 replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall
Multiple perceived 2 down backs available. With Cook and Hines give me a guy that lives in between the tackles. Damian Harris, Deonta Forman, Dernest Johnson seem to be less expensive options. I think Sanders and Hunt will want to much up front. Delvin is owed alot of money and is always hurt it seems. -
I like that they have gone the potential route vs one last ride route with aging veterans on inflated deals. You can see where McGovern could be a long term solution at OG. I can see that Harty could be a dynamic slot and be a weapon down field. Neither player stops them from drafting a guy but takes a need for an immediate starter.

Buffalo is a pass first team. No matter how much they want a different mentality or would like a better commitment to it. Push come to shove big time game its on Allen to win it. Get him guys who are better pass blockers than run blockers. Get him guys who can get open and catch the ball. Thats it. Invest more money and resources into the offense and use some good scheme and patch work on the defense.

Now get an OT

This off season you swing a cat and hit a decent back. I would look for them to bring in a vet. Restructure Hines. Cook, Hines and FA back would be a very good backfield.

GB demonstrates how NOT to do it with QBs in the modern NFL
Mat68 replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
They are the only team to pull off drafting a legends replacement at Qb. Learning from an All timer has alot of benefits. Greenbay would be wise to try again. Or dump everything into this year and when you fail you are the Saints. -
Matt Milano Contract Extension, as per Adam Schefter

I believe so. -
I dont see him being our feature back. With Hines and Cook Buffalo needs a back for tough yards.

Is Edmunds decision the most difficult Beane has ever faced?
Mat68 replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
No. I think it comes down to allocation of resources. You can not have the most expensive off ball linebacker room. You either keep Milano or sign Edmunds and trade Milano. -
The defense needs to pivot. I thought Elam was an indication of that change. They blitzed more but vs top pass catchers they allow to many free releases.

This 2018??

So keep Mcdermott and hire Oc number 3 for Allen. We win the offense is better said Oc becomes a head coach and we are on rinse and repeat for Oc 4.

Coaching. Get a guy who will say I dont give a ***** if its 2 yards or 100 gotta get a few firsts downs here.

FYI…for those worried about cap space Josh solves all problems
Mat68 replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
I like Edmunds more than Milano. But in 2023 you can not have over 20mil in cap tied to off ball linebakers. They are the rbs of the defense. Figure something out with Poyer on a 2 year deal. Sign a middle of the road vet and draft a Mike. Use that money and bring in a starting NFL OT and OG. Draft a guard/center combo who can take over for Morse down the road. The Oline and weapons need to be the highest priority. More twitch on the edge further away 3rd priority. -
I like Mcdermott alot. With him Buffalo wont suck. They will most likely win division titles. The ending of the last 2 seasons are very concerning. Last year Buffalo wasted Super Nova Allen. The best stretch of play of any qb in the playoffs wasted by a defense of a defensive coach. Now this season watching Cincy use the same game plan Miami used the week before with better execution without an answer from either side of the ball. Allen deserves better. Say we hire a new OC. Hes great the offense is the best in the league. He becomes a head coach somewhere. Sean Payton is a strangely rare opportunity to bring in an elite offensive mind. Bring Superbowl experience. Does he pull it off idk? Does Allen have the same offense and Oc for many years yes. I do not expect the Pegulas to pull that trigger. I think its an interesting conversation. I dont think having it is being reactionary. Having the only defensive coach to make it to the divisional rd is interesting. Watching Herbert having his 3rd Oc already and questions about Allen having his third creates a wider divide to Burrow and Mahomes who still have the same one and no end in sight.

McDermott The Only Defensive Head Coach in Divisional Round
Mat68 replied to ArtVandalay's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills were predictable. Cincy knew what Buffalo would do on defense and Offense. If im Terry I would have a conversation with Sean Payton. Does Tampa win with Dungy? Does Indy win someone with Peyton? As a Billionaire I make the call and see. With a generational talent Mcdermott could get out of the divisional round. I do it. Shake it up. Do you want to win the division and make the playoffs or win it all? -
McDermott The Only Defensive Head Coach in Divisional Round
Mat68 replied to ArtVandalay's topic in The Stadium Wall
Im a Mcdermott fan. He change the whole culture in Buf. I defended him yesterday on this thread. Sean Payton is a better coach. His offense with Allen would be difference maker. I will take a 1 superbowl over 0. -
1/22/23 GAMEDAY THREAD Divisional Playoffs Bills vs. Bengals
Mat68 replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think they attack Cincys Oline. White and Elam will have to make some plays on the ball. Cincy uses quick passes and a handful of shot plays. Vs single high Burrow will throw it outside deep to Chase and Higgins. -
McDermott The Only Defensive Head Coach in Divisional Round
Mat68 replied to ArtVandalay's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think organization stability and creating a positive culture would have made Buffalo a thorn in the side of Bradys Pats. The Bills have faced alot of adversity and expectations. Mcdermott was able to keep the team on track through it all. -
McDermott The Only Defensive Head Coach in Divisional Round
Mat68 replied to ArtVandalay's topic in The Stadium Wall
Because he gives Allen freedom. 99% of defensive minded coaches make the offense go super conservative after the second quarter vs Miami. Look at Staley with LAC. Up big they went ball control and blew the game to Jacksonville. Mcdermott has instilled confidence in Allen to be his best. You cant get last years playoff Allen without riding out games like last week. Forcing the offense to run more on first down and using other coach speak from the 80’s and 90’s is why many defensive coaches fail today. In the analytic world Mcdermott has found the balance imo. He will be aggressive, he will also kick and punt. Keeping the opposing team guessing is still important in these games. Knowing what the other team will do is an advantage. Its tough to accurately determine what Mcdermott will do in each situation. Each situation requires an individual decision. Many are too aggressive or too conservative. -
How confident are you the Bills beat the Bengals?
Mat68 replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
1 to 10 im a solid 7 in confidence. Burrow is at the elite level so he alone is the worry. What happens if Cincy plays like they did? Do we win or lose?
