Shorter will be fine. Will probably look better when actually targeted. Looked wide open a play Allen threw to Shakir who made the catch but was heavily covered. This game did not effect Shorters roster status imo. I think another good showing Barkley is qb 2.

Ask every DC who over complimented him as a runner game week how that worked out for them. Pete Carrol, Bill Belicheck, Robert Salah, Vic Fangio. The best defensive minds in football said this then he has dropped 300 plus yard 4tds and a near perfect passer rating on their heads. I think the only defense is pressure and hope the single coverage receiver is running a deep route. Its basically playing the averages of a lower percentage pass. With his arm healed I expect a Josh closer to 2020 and end of 21 vs last season.

Sherfield is a plus blocker. As good or better than Davis. Davis wont be asked to 99 to 90% of offensive snaps now. Sherfield will be on the field more often than Harty and Shakir because he can block. He will get schemed wide open when the defense thinks he is digging out a baker or safety but runs by them. He will be the number 3 in snaps. Shakir and Harty will look like the slot because they will play the traditional position.

Seems like a trust issue with him. He doesnt separate himself during practice but has made plays in game. Interesting dynamic to watch.

I think they are better then last year. Lost Hyde, Lost Miller. Mcdermott and Mcbeane have been super consistent. The AFC is wild. Also Mahomes is Mahomes. Allen will have to match that. Not just a bomb show. He needs to be a surgeon and butcher at any moment. You gotta take the big play from busted coverage and also the 7 yard throw in the window to keep the drive alive. Allen will have to take the thrown as unanimous best Qb for a playoff run. Same goes Burrow, Herbert, Jackson or whoever.

Early this offseason I brought up the idea of Sean Payton. Got laughed off. I was angry about the ending of the season. Looking back everything he weathered with the team he showed real strength and leadership. Next year no Lombo you cant fire him. You would have to have a guy you like more. Only move is a Tampa style move. LAR are rebuilding and have no draft capital. Mcvay for Mcdermott a few picks… wild idea but who else? An up and coming co ordinator? That is wildly risky.

The 13 seconds stuff I get but also dont. Allen and Mahomes were red hot. I was not ok and celebrating a win. 2 timeouts and needed to get to 40 to 50 yards. Hill housed one 60 plus the previous drive. Alot of arm chair coaches came out. Squib it. Ok they get it plus 20. High and short maybe. There wasnt a defense stopping either team that night.

Beasley claims Dak is "best leader he ever played with by far"...
Mat68 replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
Beasley is an enigma. I respect his honesty and candidness. He should be a legend. Small white rapper slot receiver fits the mafia. Beasley seemed to approach the fanbase and media different after the covid stuff. Idk maybe he felt Allen was pc and team during that and not there for his teammates 🤷🏻♂️. -
Hold on stop. One guy is in and around the team all offseason. The other showed up for the first time 24 hours ago. If he is wanting more input you have to be available. I dont think its a chicken or the egg thing. I really hope this is not the case. It looks stupid to want to be able to do your own thing to prepare for the season but be involved in managerial decisions while your away.

Communication is key in every walk of life. Diggs hasnt talk to the organization in months now its a cluster. Beane and Mcdermott are pretty thorough guys. Internally, the team has faced and tried answering some of the things Diggs is concerned about. Whatever Diggs is looking for imo he is handling it terribly. You can not come in after the offseason is practically over and ask for changes. Makes zero sense.
-
Has nothing to do with today. If Allen is playing in the playoffs they need to make the Superbowl. He does not hard question get asked. Not saying you fire him on the spot but his seat gets hotter.
-
Mcdermott avoids more questions by saying what he did. There are a whole bunch of other questions about it tomorrow when the media discovers he isnt practicing. He is very concerned his best weapon isnt practicing even though he is in town and was just here. Imo its on Allen and Miller as much as its on the front office. Miller is acting like its business. Diggs is using modern negotiating tactics.
-
On the other side you have a player who hasnt spoken or been in the building since January. Wanting answers and wanting changes. Where was this for the the last 6 months. Whatever Diggs and the team are working through shoukd have been here working through it. Mcdermott is backing his coaches publicly. Diggs didn't attend practice. The media would have known this as well. Only person who can speak about his feelings and intentions is Diggs.
-
Seems like a coaching question from Diggs. Do they have the freedom they had post snap from Daboll to Dorsey? Does Allen have veto power at the line to call what he want? These are some deeper questions. Based off Allen and Millers reactions vs Mcdermott’s, this feeling like Diggs has some offenseive questions. Mcdermott is obviously frustrated because this is coming from a guy who hasnt been in the building since January. I think giving Allen more control will be the compromise. Takes Dorsey off the hook a bit and allows Diggs more freedom and input with Allen ultimately responsible.

Schein-Cook is on his "guaranteed to improve" list
Mat68 replied to TBBills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
He is large enough for the usage Singeltary had. Cook is better at receiving and a more dynamic athlete. Cook was like 10 carries away from leading the league in yards per carry. I want Cook with the ball when they scheme up a run. Not in in secondary role where he is in so he is getting the ball sort of way. The other guys help keep tread off Cooks tires. Harris is the primary backup and short yardage back. Murray would be the next guy up. But lets not discount a package with knox, Kincaid, Davis, Gilliam and Cook on a third and short. They can go under center and go spread. Cook is the scheme beater. Everyone else is meant to keep usage off him. Harris will be the primary. Heavy murray is Harris backup. When cook is out Hines is the pass catching/ matchup back. Cook is going to be a problem this year. They will dictate a heavy personal to run out of. Early the Jets and other will dare them too run. When Cook starts to get big runs they will adjust and that is when offense will be at a massive advantage. -
They are the 2022 Greenbay Packers. Probably lose there last game for a playoff spot.

Schein-Cook is on his "guaranteed to improve" list
Mat68 replied to TBBills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think Cook enters the Kimara or Bell type category this year. Very good runner, very good pass catcher. Yards from scrimmage monster. I really enjoy the back field. I dont think Harris will eat into his production. Some weeks Buffalo will feel they have advantage on the ground and they use Harris more. Cook can still take advantage of those same looks and will still be the primary receiving back. -
Hopkins released by Arizona (7/16: signed by Titans)

Maybe they are just different type of guys. Mckenzie doesn't run away from coverage and angles like Harty does. -
Hopkins released by Arizona (7/16: signed by Titans)
Mat68 replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Harty seemed to be highly sought after. For a pure slot he had impressive efficiency under Payton. Something like top 10 in yards per target and catch %. He is a faster Mckenzie. Something we wont know on September is how is he in that Beasley role? If he is sure handed and protects Allen his role could be bigger. Sherrfield is an interesting signing. He beat out Bourne in San Fran and Cedric Wilson in Miami. Bourne left for a decent deal in NE. Cedric was an expensive wr last year. He has potential and immediately takes some of the dirty work off Davis. Davis dropping to 80% vs 98 to 100 he had will contribute to him having his best season thus far. Hopkins is was still imo offered a deal similar to Floyd. They can make it work with a Dawkins or White restructure. If not they are excited with what they have. Sprinkle in Shakir and Shorter you can see some upside at the position. Hopkins doesnt guarantee a tile. He is an upgrade and a guy worth going after but you have to consider his downside age and knees. -
I dont know. Healthy its Rousseasu Oliver Jones Miller Floyd Phillips Ford Epenesa Pass Rush package Miller Oliver Rousseasu Floyd I think the rotation is improved. McDermott's simulated and actual blitzes makes these matchups difficult. The addition of Floyd makes it easier to put Miller on Ir or pup. I think he might actually for the teams hand and start the season. This allows to use him as situational pass rusher. Floyd is as good or better a run defender but an upgrade on rushing over everyone below him on the roster.

I expect Allen approach this season is similar to Mahomes last year. Take the open easy pass. No need to pass up a gimme for a shot. They are Aliens who can take a nothing play into the best play of the game. Two years ago Mahomes chased the deep ball. Last year Allen chased it. Allen is going machine. I expect Cook, Kincaid and Knox underneath are going be surgical. When you got a guy open take it. No need to force it. Lets not forget his injury. Brock Purdy for San fran had a similar injury in the NFC championship. He never re entered and his status for week 1 is murky. Allen lost 2 games after his including the playoffs. The guy did not throw during the week most of the year and was still top 5.
