What realistic Free Agents are on your wishlist for the Bills?
Mat68 replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
Dont really like any of them. This is the caliber of player they will be looking at though. I dont see anything with Mooney. Gibson fumbles and is not really a compliment to Cook as they play similar ways. Gibson is a converted Wr. A solid vet wr and rb are on the radar just not a fan of either. Take a flyer on Chark. If a vet is cut maybe bring them in on a cheap ring chase deal. -
I think the guys they lean to for saftey can be had day 3 imo. I think the kid from Utah Viki has Mcbeane written all over him. Played tailback because they had too many injuries and ran for 100 plus yards.

Mel is back and I gotta say I love the pick

That could be even a larger crapshoot. Top 50 players are Wr heavy. Maybe you get one at 60 but is it the guy you like best. Could be the 12th to 15th Wr at that point. Ultimately, who is there at 28. Im not taking an Olineman or Db there. Newton DT Illionos, Robinson Edge Penn St, and Latu Edge UCLA. Even one of them I would be hard pressed to pass up Thomas Jr. -
Justin Jefferson and Jamar Chase were on the same team in college. Talent is talent. Nabers and Thomas Jr are both top 20 wrs. Too smooth and athletic not to be. The combine with help separate the guys outside the top few tiers. I expect Franklin and Worth blaze. Lets see the bigger guys move Mitchell Coleman and Legette.
-
If he runs well sure. I dont think he posts a time faster than McConkey. The guy that cant separate and super fast guy who cant stop are the 2 player arcs imo that dont succeed in the NFL. Both are the same thing. They dont create separation. Day 3 take a swing on production and a guy dont think you find success in rd 1 with it.

From my unhealthy mock drafts and looking at the current crop of wr from different talking heads here is kind of a break down. Harrison, Nabers and Uduze are all top 10 bound. Thomas Jr seems like the current next guy. With a fast 40 will most likley go outside of the Bills reach imo. The next group seem to be in play for Buffalo at 28. Franklin and Worthy seem to be the most obvious at the top of the group with both expect to be 4.4 or less. Coleman and Mitchell with a good showing in Indy could move to the top of this batch but would likley need to break 4.5 for me to be in the discussion. 60 is quite interesting. You have guys moving all over the place. Guys like Baker and Corely who were mid rd targets are not locks to be there when Buffalo picks. Add in Leggette McKoncky both Washington Wrs Polk and Mccellon may or may not be there. From here on out its a crap shoot. Very much eye of the beholder but also no telling who is available and is it a guy you like or want. Mid rders who may or may not make it to day 3 Luke Mccaffery Brandon Rice with their bloodlines. Thrash from Louisville, Washington from Virgina, Burton from Alabama. Wr is deep but its impossible to project who will be available when. Im in the take the guy you like best at 28. Draft kind of sets up for Bills other needs the rest of the way. Interesting safety's day 3. Mcbeanes style DL day 2. I think you can add another solid Wr day 2 or 3 that pairs with who ever you go with in rd 1.

The previous drive is the answer to the off coverage. Pretty sure they motioned Hill away from Kelce. Either way Levi Wallace wasnt pressing anyone in that situation without help over top. The saftey on the near side still had to eye Hill to protect the deep over KC staple. Wallace was isolated one on one vs Kelce no matter how you slice it. Kelce won and we know the rest.

Contested catch is not a translatable metric to the NFL. If a prospect has too many it normally leans to a larger underlying issue of lack of generating separation. Thats why guys like Kupp, Nucua, Dell, St Brown and many others taken in the middle rounds have been productive in the NFL. They were not super fast or elite in any area but in college they were “open” and created separation. That is something that translate to the NFL. Now add in the Leggette is not as big when measured at the senior bowl its becoming more problematic for him to go early. 6-1 vs 6-3 with average hand size makes his contested catch ability less and less likley to translate. At 60 possible at 100 def a consideration.

Comes down to who is available at 28. I think Worthy, Thomas Jr, Franklin and Mitchell are worth 28. I think S can be had day 3. I like DT day 2. Comes down to if one of the top Edges are available. Chop Robinson or the player from UCLA imo are worth it. Than you are hoping one of the guys you like in the next group makes it to 60. Im happier going Wr at 28 and taking how the draft falls from there.

Tasker & Chris Brown on Bills CB’s for 2024
Mat68 replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
Douglas Benford Elam are the main outside Cbs moving forward. White is an interesting. Cant rely on him moving forward. He is a Mcdermott guy. Curious how they handle him. -
Agreed but Wilson is a massive human. You cant help yourself trying to make that guy work. These big guys the combine will help separate some. I think Brian Thomas Jr becomes a top 10 pick after.
-
After doing too many I am happiest with the outcomes of taking a Wr at 28 or a highly rated dlineman falling. I would consider Newton, Robinson or the kid from UCLA if Thomas is gone. I think DT can be had day 2. Wr is deep but I think the talent available at 28 will be a greater impact day 1. Thomas, Worthy, Franklin add a dimension to the offense Allen has never had before. I prefer that outcome best. Hoping the next tier is still there in Rd 2 is a risk I dont like unless the guy in rd 1 upgrades the line. I think rd 1 is too early for S. Dejean or Kichenn maybe great players but I would lean into McDermott's ability to find dbs that fit his defense in the middle rounds.

Chiefs-Bills trade that landed Kansas City Patrick Mahomes
Mat68 replied to Returntoglory's topic in The Stadium Wall
What changes with Mahomes on the Bills and Allen on the Chiefs? They were looking for a qb. Assume if Buffalo picks Mahomes Kc a year later trade up for Allen. I dont believe Bills mafia would be thrilled in that universe either. -
Mahomes was a pretty big upgrade over Alex Smith. The team was also good enough to clinch the 2nd seed. Compare the 2018 KC Chiefs roster vs the 2018 Buffalo Bills roster. The outcome would not be the same. Most likley, Buffalo is exactly where we are now and Allen is on the Chiefs winning with better teams.

Many people watch and follow football. Most also dont fully understand it. The hang up people have is the int/ turnover number. They cant look past it. Imo it goes back to his draft narrative. In accurate morphed into too many turnovers. The fact he is on a historic TD rate doesn't matter. For decades it was always TD:Int ratio. Players that throw the ball more and make harder throws throw more picks but they also throw more Tds. In total turnovers vs touchdows Allen is fine historically. Manning threw alot of picks so did Farve, Marino and any other top qb not named Rodgers.

Is it time to grow concerned about Greg Rousseau?
Mat68 replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Rousseasu barring injury is a 10 year NFL starter at DE. Thats a hit. I think if he got the same snaps other top 15 DEs get his numbers would be closer to what you would hope for. -

Kyle Shannahan and John Lynch do not get the blow back they should. -

Looking back Oliver was though of the same way. This year he took a big step. I could see Rousseau having a similar trajectory. His advance stats are solid and he is the best all all around edge player on the roster by a margin imo. -

Oliver is a hit. Rousseau is on his way to being a hit. Kincaid aswell. Elam is the only disappointment. -
I think Elam has shown the ability to step up on game day when called upon. I like him as insurance and competition to Bedford. No need to move on imo.

They have lost for every reason. 21 in KC it was a Jimmy and Joes loss not X and O. 13 secs was 100% coaching. Last year vs Cincy was a bit of Jimmy and Joes and little real life hitting football. This season vs the Chiefs it was a Jimmy and Joes loss. Defense was down too many guys and late no body made a play.
