He is regarded as a top of the NFL mind. Scheme pretty plug and play. Playing Dane Jackson vs Chase or Levi Wallace vs Hill wasn't the scheme imo. Bedford and Douglas is the best they have been outside in a long time. This season and this run I will be more critical of Mcdermott and the team’s run. Previous years they had obvious limitations imo. Whether it be pressure or cb 2.

Regardless if your ready he is well on his way. Is he playing like peak Hyde or Poyer? No. I think he is playing above average for the position. He is not starting because of a make a wish. He held off Edward and Bishop with his play this year.

I look at what games were they “out” coached. I give him a pass for 22. I think Mcdermott was the right guy to handle the Hamlin tragedy. I look at the Cincy game as a team that ran out of emotional gas. 2020 Kc was a better team. 2021 is the game and lightening rod for his criticism. Hill took it 70 yards and ran past Poyer, Hyde, and White in cover 4 at the 2 min warning. 13 secs was ugly. He was worried about a walk off td. It was a hell of a game with Allen and Mahomes playing at an All time elite level at once. Mahomes got the ball and won. Last season being down so many starters left them in a position not capable of stopping Kelce. I mentioned Sean Payton and was dismissed. Mcdermott is a hell of coach. Think Allen and him win multiple together.

I know Beane is not in the business of selling off future assets. With the amount of qb needy teams and lack of depth in the position would this be a time to move up with many looking to move down. Moving our first and our 26 first may be valued more than in years past. Get into the top 15 for a premier Dlineman. Link up with a team looking to acquire assets for 26 for a hopeful qb. Could be a situation where 2026 is valued higher than 25 for teams in the qb market.

what college football teams does everyone root for?
Mat68 replied to Sweats's topic in College Football
Die hard Penn st. This year in forever have Saturday off. More locked in to the overall sport of college football in decades. The variance of outcomes when 18-20 year olds decision determine the outcome is what makes it great. -
Dont hate holding Kincaid out until after Detroit with that ***** turf. Has a knee issue no reason to push it and tear it up there.
-
Knox is a better athlete. Kincaid has better short area quickness and route savvy. I think they were starting to use Kincaid more down field instead of outlets. Early on he was getting a-lot of attention from defenses too.

Hamlin is playing good. Making tackles and around the ball. He should be celebrated. Nearly dying and 2 years later the starter and playing at a pro bowl level. He isn't dynamic or a big hitter. Just where he should be and getting his mitts on footballs. Made Edwards expendable and keeping a high pick on the bench. Dude is not just a feel good story anymore, he is also a good player.

The mirage of running effectively. San fran and Miami had success at running. I assume McVay sees that as an area they can exploit. Now in most cases it’s fruitless but a route to moving the ball. Buffalo will try to create a neg play on early downs with the front 7 and force third and longs.

There is a whole NFL that will not be fantasy relevant but important to team. Need wr who can block and play teams. Hollins might be the best wr 4/5 in the league this year. He is not a high volume player. A few targets a game he is expected to make those plays and do the dirty work. How that game went makes perfect sense why you dont activate Coleman coming off a wrist injury. Let it heal and use Hollins. Keeps Colman healthy and Cooper fresh.

What’s it gonna take to improve /prioritize our run defense?
Mat68 replied to Jistafan's topic in The Stadium Wall
So Milano and Benard. 2024 you do not design your defense to stop the run. Benard and Milano would be weak side bakers in the 2000’s and play slot in a 3 wr set. That defense gets destroyed by modern passing attacks. Illegal contact gives them 0 chance to win in the slot. -

Lewis and Ingram were getting bodied. You have to try and stop it at that point. Hard to play Nickel with back ups at nickel, both linebakers and safety vs Baltimore. -
Passing plays into Buffalo defense strength. Mcvay will see what San Fran was able to do and try to exploit that. With a returning Carter and Milano knocking off rust I think running will be harder than they anticipate.
-
Yes. Only position that is less is safety. Benard and Milano can do more them Tremaine. The Dline is improved. Douglas and Benford are better than White and Wallace/Jackson. Best oline, best running back room. Better at Te. With Cooper I think the Wr room is deeper than ever before. Also, much bigger. Shakir and Samuel are the smallest and both are 5”11 and 6 ft. Compared to Beasley and Mckenzie. Cooper, Shakir, Coleman, Samuel and Hollins are all solid.

No Benard, Johnson and Milano. Not having any part of the starting second level of the defense greatly impacted their ability to slow down Henry. -
My point is that hasnt really been what has happened. They are playing straight up games vs inferior opponent's. Instead of teams coming from behind it’s more a tick for tack and the Chiefs are coming from behind in these games. The current game script is harder to operate out of.

Run and stop the run. Pretty simple. Buffalo 31-21.

12/1/2024 Bills vs. 49’ers post game thread
Mat68 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
He has created a staff and team he has wanted. People heard he wanted to run more and took that as wanting to be conservative on offense. A reliable run game compliments Allen and the passing attack. Makes Buffalo a harder team to defend. Take what the defense gives you and more. Run after the catch and traditional running game makes defenses defend all 11 players and the whole field. Not just Allen and the 15-20 yard laser show. Coming from Jim Johnson he always had that attack mindset on defense. Benard and Milano have the ability to blitz or play coverage at a high level. Babich matches what Mcdermott wants and has pulled the right levers most of the season. -
If he was a FA would he sign a mega deal? I think so. I think he is one of their assets with value. Maybe Garrett Wilson too. I think you keep one trade the other.
-
Correct. Maybe go all in on Milroe and build a run first offense around him? But would need to trade some players for enough assets. Very tough job. Coaches, Gms with options will avoid. Like maybe Greg Roman as Hc draft Milroe and go all in with that style. No real traditional path for success imo.

I think those a fair points. Fraizer well liked around the league. Daboll and Dorsey had the shine of creating Allen. Imo Daboll knew passing and Allens success gets him a Head coaching job and that was his end goal. Dorsey as a qb wanted to pass aswell. Mcdermott looks to right in both decisions. He wanted a more aggressive defense. See 13 secs. That required personnel changes and schematic. They have done both. Mcdermott wanted a run game to pair with poor environments to play in. In a even match up having the ability to posses the ball and control the game is big. Balance makes everything on offense easier and the job of the opposing defense much harder. The book on the Bills offense was written in 2020. Now the book is still open. Answers for the defense are available but they come with a cost. Play a light box Buffalo runs its at will. Stop the run Allen can piece you up. Play man, zone and the same holds true. Mcdermott wants to win and genuinely cares about his players. Allen the leader streamlines his message to the team. A leadership counsel has multiple opinions. Now there is really 2 Mcdermott and Allen. -
Jets get to eat dead cap. Draft a rookie qb but lose the benefit of getting a qb on a rookie deal by still paying Rodgers qb money and Adams wr 1 money. They need alot more than a Qb. Im running the Jets. I trade Sauce for a first plus. Likely wont resign anyways. Build the oline and dlines. Build around the run game and defense. That job is as difficult as there is. A lunatic owner with unreal expectations. Cap and assets used on old players likely not on the roster nor wanted.
-
Now having the better qb shifts the odds in their favor. But yes, the odds are against them. Playing roulette and its red 11 times in a row. Yes, the results do not change the odds but black is hitting soon or later. Chiefs fans would point to last season. They had some opposite luck. Losing 1 score games early then going on a run late. My thought is that run corresponded with the emergence of Rice that opened more room for Kelce. The offense was outscoring people. Playing from ahead and allowing the defense to attack. That isnt really the case this season. The defense is keeping the game close and the offense is doing just enough in the fourth quarter. Some suspect teams have put the Chiefs in a position to need some really incredible luck to win. Eventually, that well runs dry. Its not a case of Mahomes just being better its odd ball stuff. Blocked kicks, fumbled snaps.

Having depth to not rush players back is big. Smoot, Carter, Kincaid and Coleman are all good players. Getting 2 rookies some time to reset their seasons will help them down the stretch. Smoot and Kincaid having the ability to get healthy is huge too. Smoot and Carter both help the run defense. Kincaid and Coleman both make the offense more dynamic. Team is finding their identity, the roster is getting good players back. Creates a good dynamic down the stretch.
-
Kc is playing with fire. I think they are as likely to lose out as they are to win out. Offense is average. Defense is good. Defense was great last season and the offense was good. Losing Rice has diminished the passing attack that was already limited. The defense has to blitz because they are no longer elite outside losing Ward. Buffalo is in a good spot for the 1 seed even with a loss at Detroit. Today I think Buffalo beats them.
