Tackle is a real problem for them. Losing Pacheco removes the explosiveness out of their run game. He runs like a bowling ball but also has real speed. They beat 2 good teams. The goods teams did also lose to the Raiders and Patriots.

I was being sarcastic. Jerry blows a fuse if they get blown out. Game is a must watch on Sunday imo. More AFC teams lose the better. I think Baltimore has lost too much on the oline over the years. RT looks like a problem. Same for guard. Is anyone scared of their run game? Jackson cant run it 15 plus times a game and make it to January.

Bills vs Jags Game Week Thread - MNF
Mat68 replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think on Monday at home Buffalo has an offensive explosion. I 100% think the Jaguars DC is going to make an effort to stop the Bills run game. By doing so the passing game is dynamic and lethal. 3-4 passing Tds before half. Depending on the defense getting more turnovers the second half might be similar to Miami. A few big plays early might be too much for Jacksonville to withstand and the game is broken open. -
They are trying to coast him to the playoffs. I dont think they want to over use him early and zap his legs for another run. The AFC looks the most open. I think Buffalo has a shot at the 1 seed and bye. I think that would do wonders for the defense and overall team health.

Long-term future of the Bills defensive backfield?
Mat68 replied to GASabresIUFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Rapp played a ton last season. Starting now. Buffalo likes him a lot. Barring something changing Rapp is in the plan for next season too. Lewis is mix of slot and safety. Best of either Hamlin or Edwards could be retained. If Cine makes it off career life support that would be a depth option too. -
Kc has some pretty big Oline issues and the best player on offense not named Mahomes or Kelce is hurt for a significant time in Pacheco. Without a run game. Puts a bit more on Kelce and Rice.

I think it calls into question the coaching at UF. Line up there play man. Benford had zone experience in college. I think it is more a guy never given anything and over looked in Benford. In a true even competition he wont it clean. More a plus on Benford than negative on Elam. I think Elam starts on 15 or so defenses. His athletic ability and ball skills are still high. Benford is a more consistent player in all areas.

Benford extended. Douglas is not retained. Ingram and Elam compete for starter. Rookie drafted day 2 for depth. -
You would not get that game with Dorsey unless a weird weather game. Allen has now had 2 such games. Dallas and now Miami he passed for 130 yards. Main difference between Brady and Dorsey. Brady is intentional with the run. Seems to call the runs he thinks work best vs the defense. If he is correct he will call it over and over. Dorsey had runs he liked and would call them. No reason behind why. Based off formation and player groupings you could guess the run. The part that I think makes the offense more efficient is Brady marries the run plays with play action and pass plays. Less predictable except when they don't want to be. That long Td there was not a surprise what Buffalo was running. Miami knew what was coming and still hit it for a Td. That play ended the game in the second quarter. Matt Rhule had his hand in the offense and made it more conservative.

The changing game? Passing yards at 193/game so far....

I think at the core it is as simple as looking at how defenses are defending Allen. Let’s get more stout in the interior. Torrence, Mcgovern at center and Edwards. Are people movers. Morse was not. Helps with the interior rush. The type that effective Allen the most. Helps the run and passing. How far can we take stretch nickel. Bigger body wrs. Coleman, Hollins and MVS are all over 6-3. With knox and Kincaid? Jumbo Te 6th olineman? Buffalo’s offseason and player acquisition has been strategic. -

Mcdermott plays pass 100% especially vs Mcdaniel and Reid. Historically, when they need a play or a jolt they pass. I think that is what makes Mcdermott different than many defensive minded head coaches. -

Most defensive coaches are tough guys. They dont stomach being run at. Run effectively for them to adjust. With Dorsey and Daboll they didnt have the ability to move people upfront. You start gashing them they will adjust. Brady finds a run vs you he will spam it until you stop it. When you do thats when more things open up. -
Bills posting "insane" offensive efficiency metrics thru 2 weeks
Mat68 replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
I disagree. They are not doing anything special. Running with big bodies vs small ones. Spread out advantageous match ups. Once they get to the defense tendencies they can dictate matchups based off player packages. -

Yes. Smaller faster defenses. Notice the best teams in the NFL. 49ers, Chiefs, Bills and Ravens. Have fullbacks, multiple TEs and can hammer you on the ground. Buffalo, KC and Baltimore have probably the 3 best Qbs. If you play any of them consistently with single high safety look you will get obliterated. Teams started going to 2 high vs them and limited the explosives. So it works vs those guys it will really work vs everyone else. KC, Baltimore, and Buff have pivoted away from 3 wrs all the time to more “pro” sets. Many teams are still lining up 3 wide and having very inefficient outputs. Buffalo is going to run the ball. Force defenses to stop it. They do Allen kills blitzes and single high safety. I give Mcdermott immense credit. When cover 3 and single was the norm they threw at an historic rate. Now teams are playing off with 2 deep they morphed into a running offense that can make defenses pay for it. They also have safeties with ability to play in the box and more single high looks. -
I can’t be the only one mildly annoyed with Diggs new handshake routine. Wow what a great teammate he has his own handshake with each guy what a great teammate. 🤮🤮

I think Buffalo rolls. Jacksonville is more desperate but overall are disjointed. I like Buffalo Dline and Oline in this matchup. This smells like the game a defensive Co ordinator is going to “take away” the run. Bigger bodies 3 line-bakers and load boxes. Allen has his best game of the season. -
Diggs wanted out saw the writing on the wall. I think the season in Houston eventually sours. When he isnt targeted like he wants and they lose he will be loud about it.
-
I think being bigger at center and guard helps vs the AFC elite. I dont expect Buffalo to dominate those games but also forces teams to make decisions to take it away.
-
They are different. Less outside runs more inside. I think that has to do with Mcgovern vs Morse. Morse was athletic and gets outside and upfield. Mcgovern is more a dig his nose and stay on block type. I think the interior is more stout. When they pull its Dawkins and Brown. Right now double team get the backer is a tough run to stop with light boxes. Having the bigger bodies at the skill position allows them to run successfully at loaded boxes. Next evolution will be when defenses match with bigger bodies. Those condensed sets will morph into spread looks. They are dictating to defense right now. Setting the counter to the counter. Defenses dont want to be caught with their pants down vs Allen. This gameplan will be on the table all year.
-
I think it’s the position. Not alot of highly paid Lbs. Buffalo having a type and then drafting one every year is probably the best method.
-
Mcdermott knows Mcdaniel will not commit to the run. They dont have the blockers at wr for it. Hill and Waddle want those touches. Dont really have the offensive line for it.
-
Bishop will eventually factor in. Right now the defense is playing very well. Gave up 20 points to Arizona and 10 to Miami. Murray and Tua both had very pedestrian passing numbers. Bishop and Edwards missed most of training camp have only been practicing now a few weeks. Hamlin and Rapp are familiar with the defense and scheme. They were first guys up. So far they have played well. Hamlin put the hat on the coverage and rallied up to make the tackles when the team needed him to. Hamlin had his best game since 2022. Some speculated off his play before his accident he was the successor to Hyde. He was written off last season because he was a shell of himself. Who could blame him? He looked like that guy again last night. Buffalo looks to be in better shape on defense than many expected. Hamlin is a big part of it.
