Correct but now look what the offense did from the fumble on. Its a complete snowball effect. The Saints obviuosly had a good idea of how to attack the defense. Everything they called worked. Without any offensive help to stop the bleeding the defense gassed in the second half. Which made a bad situation that much worst.

I just feel like whole qb change narative is poorly executed in most and all cases. If Watson was a poor half of football away from playing why wasnt he just named the starter in preseason? They may win that opening game with a gameplan around Watson. To the Bills situation. If like many feel Peterman is a poor half of football away why wouldnt you just make the switch now and give him a full week of snaps and practice with the ones. Have a game plan that fits him and the team. So from here on do they a package or set of plays around peterman if he gets in? Mcdermott is allowing OTA's and TC too much clout. A spot is earned and its required to be kept. Reguardless of your previous assumptions. Milano has earned playing time regaurdless of experience. I would put elston on the filed too. I have doubts either of those moves on defense are made. He is committing to the vetran players. So if he wont replace the will baker for a more explosive rookie why would he change the qb.

What's wrong with this team? And how can it be fixed?
Mat68 replied to LA Grant's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Neither side played well for 2 weeks now. Its easy for it to snow ball on defense. All im saying the defense will need to offense to score over 20 points a game...They will not win with defense alone. The defense is nowhere near domimate. -

A few first downs maybe some TD drives and now the defense has something to play for and sway momentum. Football is funny game that way. At worst they would be more enjoyable to watch. I will argue trust the process and earn your spot died with Milano. He played well and made miltiple game changing plays. Humber has been a speed bump since coming back into the lineup. -
You could say garbage time started after the first run only TD drive for NO. So mid 3rd qrt to last 2 mins Taylor did nothing vs the same look he faced all game. If a defense can run the same play in the same situation and you can not find the solution that falls directly on the Qb. I think the 3rd or 4th third down checkdown they showed dennison sitting next to Taylor. No words spoken almost for show and then got up and walked away fed up. Shortly after Peterman entered.

Draft prospects- defensive front 7. Who do you like?
Mat68 replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unless Peterman is a revoulation or Taylor does a 180 I think you go qb and Dt round 1. Maybe linebaker, depends what happens in FA. I think they target whichever tackle Carolina lets walk. Star or Short. -

The team more improtantly Mcdermott thinks he has a very good defensive unit. They may have a good scheme but the defense plays bend and dont break. When you play that way it relies upon an offense that moves the ball and scores points. Right now the offense is predictable and not good. I place the blame on play calling and quarterback play. Probably 50-50 split. Mcdermott seems like a guy that will over analyze the situation to expect better play and play calling. I think the easiest solition will be a Qb that fits vs expecting alot from 2 individuals that havent shown alot individually. -

Easiest way to hide an Oline and protect the qb. Get the ball out. 3 step drops are the hardest to defend. When it takes 3 steps and hitch or two it is not going to work. That fits Peterman's game not Taylor's. Now what will it take for Peterman to earn it? I do not think he can. If Milano couldnt surplant Humber i dont think Peterman sees the field unless its an exectutive order from the top. -
11-13: McDermott and Coordinator Pressers
Mat68 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A few take aways. Dennison is still figuring out how to call a game. That was a little concering that he has been in the league as long as he had and was not a successful play caller. There are plays you like but you want to maximize your personal as well. The option to with tolbert made no sense he is not an open space runner and the flow of the defense would easily force the play to the boundry. The run game was fine. Mccoy was 10 for 49 at half but they had to abandon the run which never happened. The way you beat shell zone concepts is from the pocket. Quick passes and seem routes. Utilize benjamin as a gronk or graham. Stack him in a bunch and give him the seem option route. After 2 bad losses the fixes are not quick or easy. At the same time they are the same team that dismantled the raiders at home. As much as Tyrod is our starter talk there is a point were you have to change personal. Same goes for Humber. He is not nearly as productive as he was pre injury. Milano made plays and again has more atheltism and upside. -

I agree. At the same time if you are at the point of second, third chances, and looking for a point in the game to make a change do it now. Give the kid a full week of reps and a gameplan around his abilities. You dont go back. Peterman can go 11 for 20 with 50 yards and an INT but atleast he is a rookie and not a 7 year vet. I would try to use taylor as a wildcat role if he was up for it. -
Seems like a terrible route and play call for 3rd and 12. Curl flats with clay running an option route. With the DT dropping it completely destroys any chance of the play succeeding. Seems like that was the same play run every 3rd down. They literly cant beat cover 2 on 3rd and 12? Dennison had 4 chances in a row. Reguardless of play call though, Taylor played with 0 desire in the second half. Down 2 than 3 and 4 scores you have to drive the ball down the feild and attempt to pick up first downs. After the first quarter it was obvious that the defense was going to have their handsful. They came up with the TO in the redzone to keep the game competitive and the offense goes 3 and out and gives NO the ball back at midfield. The Bills are who most of us expected them to be. The early season success had covered up alot of the issues this franchise has had for 3 years. The rest of the season will be good indicator of what Buffalo has a coach. What happens from here? Obviously, run defense will be a big concern. Does he change things schematically, or personal, maybe both? On defense I would look at starting Milano move alxander to sam in a over look or strictly de and egde rusher. Maybe go with a 3 saftey nickle. Put hyde at slot, Poyer deep, elston in the box. Offense speaking i think Peterman may be in play. I would be getting him coached up and prepared if the offense continues to sputter. I would repect Taylor as a player and leader and have an honest converstion about the state of the team. Reguardless, of scheme play or turnovers, as the QB and leader the success and failures falls at the feet of the qb. If the ship is not righted soon a perminate change is coming. The next few weeks will be intersting not just for the year but going forward.

I agree but he could not be worse than how Taylor played.

They traded for Benjamin shortly after.

Tyrod 9/17 for 53 yards through 3 quarters. FRANCHISE QB!
Mat68 replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This was a terrible performance all around. Taylor needs to be at the center of the offensive issues same goes for Dennison. Something needs to be done. Sitting Tyrod would do that. -

I am a Tyrod fan, i have defended his style and play a good amount. This is by far his worst performance. Idk what happened but he looks lost right now. I think a QB change could be the only thing that saves the season. Hard to play defense when the offense cant move the ball 10 yards. -
The offense never started to quit. The defense was on the feild the whole game. Buffalo were lucky to hold them to 17 at half. The problem is the offense.

Gameday Thread Bills @ Jets 2nd Half

Get ball at half. Think they go down and score. Its a differant game. Matthews going for the first clearly 2 yards short hurts but doesnt sway momemtum cause half ended on a sack. -

I dont know if has been said. But Zay Jones holding his knee after starting his best game as a bill and CBS talking about Deshawn Watson was disrespectful. Idk if its severe or not. He clearly was about to beat his man and was pulled down and hyper extended his knee. Romo and Nance talk about Watson the whole time. Disgusting to me. -
Week 9: Jets' Game Preparation - Inactives Announced
Mat68 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the last 2 years its straight 50/50. To me the looking at the the teams and the winners. For the most part the favored teams normally win or the better overall teams usually wins. -
From all the analysis and over analysis of this trade I think there are a few truths and some fallacies here. Some truths here. Due to his size Benjamin in not overly effective on short quick routes. Benjamin does add another dimension to the team that has not been here maybe ever. The fallacies that I see is the 50/50 ball that Benjamin does best does not fit to Taylor's strengths. Taylor has given guys chances down the field. That has happened this year and in years past. Benjamin seems to be at his best vs zone. Due to Taylor's scramble ability most team utilize zone against us. Benjamin's size and savvy will create the easy and visually open throws that Taylor likes most. Really the only question will be how fast can he be brought up to speed and how soon does Taylor look his way first. IMO this all happens fast. He will be easy to find and see on the field and when the man to man matchups are apparent its easy to see the miss match.

Jets DT Steve McClendon: Shady McCoy is no superhero
Mat68 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This year they have given up big games to pretty much every back they have faced fantasy wise. Simple equations here. Buffalo finding their footing running the ball. Facing a defense that has been leaky against the run equates to Mccoy having a big performance. Taylor vs their secondary is a good match up for us as well. -
This. Inconsistent teams play the worst on short notice. NYJ are not consistent. They are on the ropes as a team. No one is tricking anyone here. You are who you are and they played each other once. Buffalo didn't play their best game vs them week 1 and won pretty easily. They are starting to hit their stride as a team. They will be ready to go.

ESPN: The Great Tyrod Taylor Debate
Mat68 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He does not fit into any mold of an NFL quarterback. Risk adverse who doesn't turn over the ball, but yet he holds onto the ball longer than any other Qb and makes a handful of big chunk plays a game. He is a joy to watch as a fan. i do not care if he runs for first down on third or passes for it. He makes passes from the pocket and outside of it. Imo if he was in a larger market he would be massively popular. If Buffalo makes the playoff I think they could really make some noise. Good run game solid defense and a QB who can make a big play is a dangerous out for anyone. -
With guys like Rodak starting to write these kind of stories about Buffalo it tells me that what I am watching is real. More important than what I am watching is real, is that what I am watching this year is different. in the past 17 years Buffalo has been here before. We have had fast starts before. Than out of nowhere all the issues that were apparent all year show up the remainder of the year. This team is not making dumb penalties, or prone to turnovers. One side of the ball is not hiding glaring weaknesses of the other unit. They are playing together, playing as a team. The units are picking up the other right when they team needs it. The Bucs game. Buffalo blows a 4th quarter lead. Our best corner gets beat for what looked like a game winning Td with a little over 3 mins left. He was right with him but it was 5-11 on 6-5 and that reach was the difference. 3 plays later the offense tied it up. I wasn't their and haven't been to a home game in years. My observation from my office computer at work was that was the most electric I have seen the stadium in years. Tied game plenty of time for Winston and the offense who shredded them through the air the whole second half. The first play of the drive the game goes full circle. The prized rookie who just got beat not only punches the ball out also recovers. That was a team win that has not been seen in these parts for years. Multiple places for the Bills to fold. instead they took the game back that they seemingly gave away like they have for many years. Tonight I do not have the same nervousness that I have had in years past. On paper Buffalo is better. On the field Buffalo is better. Buffalo is executing better, Buffalo is also more consistent. Short week easy to lose focus to a tougher than realized rival, the difference is Buffalo was injected with a solid dose of excitement Tuesday. Say what you want but players notice what has happened since training camp. The first 2 trades brought better teammates good players but not special talents. Last week they got rid of Daures another talent but high paid and not fulfilling is potential. Instead of selling they bought some talent and brought in a massive upgrade at Wr. 6-5 245 and supremely talented helps. Fits what the team needs. As a running ball control offense you need to score TDs and pick up 3rd downs Benjamin does those well.
