Rumor: Bills trying aggressively to move up for a WR in round one

Who are you? Mike Ditka? I think you can jump to 9 for less, but it's probably 28, 1st in 25, plus 60 -
Bills sign Taron Johnson to 3-year $31 million extension

If this means we address our safety spot with Simmons and Rapp as starters, I won't complain -
2024 Bills Free Agents - In/Retained, Out, and Unsigned List

I don't need Mike Williams, but unless you're getting one of the three big guys at WR I wouldn't hold out hope that a rookie is coming in and making defenses roll coverage off Diggs. Thomas has the ability to give us size underneath which we desperately lack. Aside from the three big names I don't really see a "game changer" maybe a good #2 but no real #1 surefire stud down the road. -

If he's healthy... I'd take a look at Thomas or Mike Williams based on size, but that's just my wish list, Simmons would be nice -
And his white knights never fail to show up. Not like he's still the most vocal about how NIL and transfer portal is the worst thing in the world after he "retired". If it wasn't the reason he retired he would have never said anything. Also I don't need Nick Saban to enjoy the success of my favourite program. He hated that he couldn't be the guy anymore and left crying about how it changed and it's not fair.
-
Nick Saban quit because he couldn't control the NCAA like he used to. Mark Emmert stepping down and "legal bags" as they were called at the start of NIL meant he no longer could cry foul when other schools with big time financial boosters could provide kids the opportunity to make money at home and not the illegal cars and cash bags from Bama. The SEC is notoriously dirty for it and once it became legal for a kid to make money of their name it evened the playing field to an extent. It allowed Miami to keep a ton of Florida kids at home where they would have all left for money at Bama, OSU, etc. They have rules in the sense that the school doesn't pay the kid directly, it's all from outside sources. For instance the American Top Team MMA gym has an NIL deal in place with UM athletics, they just have to do promotion on social media. The injunction just allows schools to recruit kids with potential NIL deals upfront instead of once they are signed

Is it time to grow concerned about Greg Rousseau?
Monty98 replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just to throw this out in regards to how raw of a DE he is...this will be his 6th season at DE. He was a LB/S in highschool and WR. At Miami he moved to DE. He's still learning how to play the position as a pass rusher. He is a player you extend as his second contract will be where his talent and ability will be fully honed in and will be a game changer. 8-10 sacks a year will be a bench for him, plus the ability to set your edge. He's your ideal DE, edge setter and can rush the passer effectively. -
Bills add Miami Hurricanes DB coach Jahmile Addae to coach secondary

I wouldn't say Ed Reed, I love Kam, but Ed was Ed, the guy. Kam is good, I'd probably put him closer to Jairus Byrd, will be feast or famine but will always be around the ball. Addae was not, his best pull was Damari Brown last year, this the best DB was a Mario kid not Addae (I believe) in Zaquan Patterson. Add in he's transitioning to LB too -

Being a Hurricanes fan, the last two seasons we have been saying fire Addae, it's just something that he was hyped up as a future DC/HC and at Miami he was just not that guy and he rubbed coaches wrong as well as players. Go look up any canes message board and you'll see rejoice and laughter that Buffalo hired him. -

I just don't want him associated with either team I like...why couldn't he go to the Dolphins. I saw this on FB first and was like oh no 🤮 then I was like...well...the U got better. The passing efficiency #s at Miami make me sick. Universally as in not just the players. Staff and board were not on board with him at Miami and the way he went about business So it's a bit misleading. Tyrique Stevenson was going to be drafted regardless and left Georgia to come home to Miami, DJ Ivey was a draft pick based on measurables. Any one who watched Miami can tell you that he was not good. The two safeties this year getting drafted are Kam Kitchens and James Williams who just played linebacker at the senior bowl. Kam will get drafted because he is a gambler at times and has a knack for making big plays in big situations. -

Was horrendous at Miami, and the recruiting was subpar. Right now I think this might be the worst hire by McDermott -

Universally disliked at Miami and directly lead to one player transferring this season, and almost costing Miami their top young corner. Dude is a massive ####### apparently. Doubt he's successful here and don't let his stop at Georgia fool you, that was all Kirby, like Saban he's a DB guy. The DBs at Miami got better once Guidry took over as DC. Really dislike this hire right now -
I'm just not as big on Tez like a lot of people are, nothing he does wows me. Polk for me is just his all encompassing skill set. Rice is a late rise for me, he showed out at senior bowl week and it was something that I have to watch again
-
He's not even that tall. He measured in at 6'1 at the Senior Bowl. He's average height and has decent speed. There's a lot of average in the draft class and he doesn't wow. If you're looking for a nice round 2 guy, look at Ja'Lynn Polk and Brenden Rice. Jmo

He's just not good, yeah okay he had a good game in their biggest game of the season but Coleman is mid. I'm at the stage right now of trade out of the 1st and get a future first and a 2nd this year, and get after Ja'Lynn Polk from Washington. I really like what I've seen so far and watching the game vs Texas 👀

I'm not saying he isn't good or that he's overrated. My point is, is he a guy you put faith in signing long term to replace Diggs as a #1? I don't, and I don't think he's a true #1 WR either. He's a good #2 but he's not a great #2 fringe #1. Look at guys we've had, Peerless Price? Great #2 terrible #1 in Atlanta. Stevie Johnson, would have been a much better #2 but was a fringe #1 guy. Diggs has been that clear #1 and Davis was a good #2 to him. I think there's much more enticing options in the draft. I really think all 3 of the Washington guys will be #1s if not the fringe #1 great #2. I think someone will see his size and the games like the 13 second game and pay him more than he's worth.
-
I get that, but that's what you're paying Dawkins to do, beat Jones one on one and not get pushed back like he's on skates.
-
Tre missed the tackle but he's in a tough spot, he's the contain guy. He's doing his job by forcing Hall inside where the flow is supposed to clean up. Does he miss a tackle? Yes, did he olé the tackle? Not at all. Poyer was worse down the field flat footed.
-
All this tells me he's had a number from day one and we laughed him out of the meeting. I'm sure he is using the 13 second game and the fact that Diggs is aging as his main points of why I'm worth X. I just don't see him as a need here. He's easily replaceable via draft and doesn't offer something that Diggs or Shakir don't. Noted I've been big on Shakir since his draft but Davis can go and look for the money he thinks he's worth
