  1. I still think the most effective way to stop Allen is sit in cover 3 shells or combo coverage. Teams with athletic MLB can cause problems, if you have an athletic spy and play the lane game in pass rush you almost force Allen to run towards the middle of the field. I don't think you can effectively beat the offense, but making everything a play in front of you defense would "slow it down". As Allen's become more willing to check down and take what's given to him it's still going to be pick your poison death by a thousand cuts or try to blitz and hope you're not beat over the top once he gets away from the pressure.
  2. Dorsey learned under some really good OCs and played under one of the better OCs in college (at that time). I think he has makings of a really good long term OC eventual head coach
  3. I remember watching Shakir at the return of the Red and Blue practice, dude was looking like a 10 year vet. Subtle movements to create separation and effortless movement skills. Watching Jaquan Johnson at Miami and now in Buffalo I've been ecstatic with his development. He's not the ideal athlete you want at FS/SS, but he's an insanely smart player and has phenomenal instincts. He's always around the ball at the right time
  4. Not as awful as Sweeney, IMO.
  5. Chris Herndon got released by New Orleans, he's been a serviceable TE for some time. Would probably be an upgrade over Sweeney
  6. Yeah, that's my viewpoint. He's more RB than WR. He just put up gaudy numbers at Colorado against decent competition, he made the "long handoff" a viable threat with him. I think he would look better as a Kamara/Patterson type player not a WR who can play out of the backfield.
  7. They needed wr help aside from Hill and Waddle, Sanu gave them a big body
  8. Sanu surprises me, Michel doesn't. I think he's washed already.
  9. He should be a RB not a WR. His skill set is more of a physical Kamara. Not as fast, but could be a good 1/2 down back and flexed on 3rd.
  10. That looked brutal, even with the braces it was jelly. Unfortunately at his weight he's going to have a long recovery road
  11. So a few things I noticed from the practice scrimmage. 1. The returners in warm ups were Isiah McKenzie, Blackshear, Shakir and James Cook I believe. Could just be the rotation for the first preseason game but I was intrigued to not see Tavon Austin back there...but he may be on the outside looking in. Haack was more consistent with his kicks, had a clean spiral on his punts when not trying to directional kick it. Punt god shanked a few, but when he's asked to go and kick the piss out of it, he killed the ball. 2. Starting OL was Dawkins, Hart, Morse, Bates (I believe), and Quesenberry. Starting unit held its own and opened some nice holes. Goal to go was a bit of an issue...but with "thud" whistles it's blown dead quick, Moss and Duke both had what would have been TDs live after breaking goal to go tackles. Ford just doesn't look good, one series he had a decent block but probably could have been called for holding, and the next play he was blown up while attempting to double the DT. I just think he's not going to make it through camp cuts. 3. We have bountiful riches at WR and some teams will be licking their lips to claim some of our guys come cut down day. Tanner Gentry had, I think, the catch of the day on a diving grab on a corner route with what looked like no bobble throughout the process. As I said earlier Shakir was just a lot of fun to watch. Effortless movement and sweet route mechanics. He was pulling away from DBs all day. Davis was the same guy from KC in the playoffs, he almost feels uncoverable at times, pretty sure he got both feet in on the "non TD". McKenzie will have a role with the bubbles and RPO game, he's small enough to get lost in the wash on crossers which will lead to chunk plays. 4. Terrell Bernard is a nice diamond in the rough. He is athletic enough to cover well out in space and out of the backfield. He's quick and decisive in his blitz assignment and attacks full go. His downfall is he will get knocked out of lanes in the run game. Happened a few times where he tried to hit the gap and was just mauled by a guard. Lots of upside though. 5. DBs were up and down, but I think that's more based on the system Dorsey has implemented vs talent. Damar Hamlin had a great breakup in the endzone where Davis looked wide open. Elam is learning on the fly and he has great recovery speed and ability, showed it on a pass breakup in the endzone on Diggs, believe he was beat on a double move or wheel route and got back to prevent the TD. He was giving up inside leverage a lot to the WR off the line and that is fixable. I want to see him more aggressive with his punch off the line in press. 6. Dorsey's system feels like there's more motion in it and more utilization of stacked WRs. The was a play where Duke Johnson was motioned out wide, then moved back in to a stack grouping with the WR. He ran an out and the WR ran a stop route which created a natural pick on the DB. There is a lot more double tight it looked like as well and 5 wide sets with your 11 personnel group.
  12. The udfa RB. He was returning kicks in warm ups too. Good patience on runs letting them develop and accelerated through the holes.
  13. Blackshear looks really good too. He has shown some really nice vision in finding the hole/seam and accelerating
  14. Small school, looked at as a slot only guy
  15. Khalil Shakir is just so effortless and smooth in and out of his routes. It's fun to watch him just break away from a DB... albeit a second or third team DB but it's just so nice to see
  16. Yeah, punt god isn't great at the directional kicking so far
  17. So haack has a cleaner kick off his foot, but punt god has the heavier leg
  18. No no, not even remotely, sorry if sarcasm, they might be the fastest combo, but I love Chase and Higgins more. Evans and Godwin more, and I'll still take Theilan and Jefferson over them easily.
  19. I hate making predictions on the Bills, I feel like it leads to just bad karma. So...league wide! Tom Brady has his worst statistical season throwing close to 20 interceptions and only 25 TDs. Lamar Jackson is unable to make the offense in Baltimore work. Only having Mark Andrews as a WR target kills him, but the defense is #1 in both rushing and passing allowing them to sneak in to the playoffs. Raiders don't win the AFCW but in week 18 Carr and Adams go off making KC miss the playoffs. Jacksonville has a 10 win season and wins the AFCS and a playoff game. Dallas wins 6 games and McCarthy is fired at the Bye
  20. I mean, Becton might not be what Salah wants as a tackle. But Becton will be around for at least 2-3 more years. If he stays healthy and keeps the weight in check he's fine. Just has to progress as an OT
  21. Okay so! I'm just going to address this as I have knowledge of that situation working with Hamilton in the CFL. Yes they are actively trying to expand, no it likely won't happen anymore. They had a deal in place prior to COVID where the province in NS would pitch in a few million, but the rest was to be fronted by the Atlantic Schooners group and I believe they were going to share with Saint Mary's university (who desperately need a new stadium). COVID happened, province pulled funding for medical costs and deal fell through. Expansion won't be happening anytime soon it feels like, again as someone who works within the league with a team. Second, Buffalo doesn't need any help attracting Canadian fans to Bills games. There is plenty of us who will come down to a Bills game weekly, unfortunately the last two seasons we haven't had border access aside from two short periods. You will be seeing plenty of Canadian Bills fans this season and in the future at the new stadium.
  22. I got two for general public sale this morning. Ticketmaster had a queue set up at 945
  23. I'm surprised Humphrey is low like that...I'd have him over Terrell, but hey madden gunna madden
  24. Rousseau and Miller might have a field day against that line week one...
