Good call on that. He has defended Brady well in the past. And like another poster said - it would be cool to beat Brady in the big one. That would exorcise a few demons for me.

I can't relate to this kind of rational thought.

Just curious what everyone's thoughts are (and I'm a fan, so I don't have to take it one game at a time). I do think the Bills have the best team in the AFC. The playoffs can always hinge on a few bounces of the ball, but I really like our chances to get to the big game this year. Maybe it's PTSD from 20 years of Brady, but the idea of him waiting there for us is kind of like "the sound of inevitability" from the Matrix or something. Just this thing that won't go away, that we can't avoid and that seems to have some weird paranormal edge over Buffalo. But well beyond that is a team that - when healthy - has units that are almost at an all-pro level in terms of personnel. The defense can be fierce, and the offense has more weapons than any team in the league. They made KC look like amateurs last year (granted, the injuries to the O-line really hurt KC in that game). It would be a great challenge, but personally, I'll be rooting for any other team in the NFC once the playoffs start. Am I overplaying it?

I tend to think all fanbases are essentially the same. There are good & bad in the mix in any football city. But, that said, I have to say I was genuinely taken aback the 1st time I went to the Chiefs board. It was AFTER they beat us in the AFCCG, and man, did "sore winner" ever apply to just about every post. And really vile stuff, too - the opposite of this board.

NFL TV Schedule and Maps: Week 8, 2021 October 31, 2021

Why does so much of NY have to watch a NJ team whose season is already over? -
The Jets were terrible. Brady would have been 0-4 w/ them. I'm not saying he's going to change their fortunes. But I'd rather have faced Wilson, or the guy whose name I can't remember who played yesterday.

Count me as a Bills fan who isn't very happy about this. Flacco is Flacco - but he's also capable of having great games.
-
That game bugged me, because the scope of the victory had most Patriots fans thinking "we figured it out! Look out league!" The Jets just folded. They put up no resistance whatsoever. It was embarrassing, and I have to admit, I expected more out of Saleh - I get that it's a young team dealing w/ injuries, but it's ridiculous to just not show up like that.

10/17 Gameday Thread: Around the League (Bills on bye)
Success replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Really, not a bad year to be a SB contender. Of course there are teams that could beat the Bills - but I'd like Buffalo's chances against anyone this year. -

100% for real. Awesome story. Glad she's watching. -
I mean, NFL history kind of says, "sometimes." No, not really. There are certain places I wouldn't want to go to for the AFCCG. KC being #1. I'd actually LOVE to go back to TN.

Beane's Draft Picks: Is Allen His Only Success?

I don't understand the Oliver criticism in some of the posts. He's incredibly disruptive. -
I disagree. There is nothing about Tampa or Dallas that has been any different than the Bills so far. The Pats aren't a good team, and took both of those teams to the wire. A season is an ebb & flow - even a championship season. Teams that look great in October sometimes aren't the same teams that look great in December and January. The Bills played great last night despite the loss, and showed resiliency & determination. I think any objective fan would list the Bills in the top 3 of teams no one wants to see in the playoffs.

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - Humbled at the Goal Line
Success replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
I feel like the Bills needed a game like yesterday. You can't just coast to the playoffs. They fought hard, & kept fighting back when they lost the lead each time. It was great resiliency. I feel like that kind of game will only build their confidence, despite the ending. And I think the players loved McD for going for it. The obvious parallel is the hail Murray, which felt similar at the time - heading into a bye, stewing for 2 weeks & then coming out on fire. Can only hope for the same this time. The only disagreement I have w/ the OP is that I do NOT like Vrabel. -
Too jinxy for me. I hate losing - but one of the silver linings is that we'll be back under the radar for a bit (or at least as "under the radar" as a division leader & contender can be). A whole season would be too much. Take some lumps early, learn some lessons, peak in December & January (and February).

A few thoughts about the Titans game, in no particular order
Success replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
On #10, I'm in the "go for it every time" crowd, but agree w/ your analysis. First, it's not really a "debate" - both points of view on the core decision are valid, imo. I don't see how anyone can really fault the aggressiveness, and I certainly wouldn't have complained had they kicked the FG there. But I liked the mentality. But the bigger issue is the play call itself. In general, we see that too much. Dallas did it Sunday and almost lost the game as a result (and BB always stacks against the run on those plays - more than other coaches). They were aggressive on the decision, but ultra-conservative on the play call. Let Josh play fake & see what's available. If he chooses to run, he's better in space regardless. Great write-up, and a great game. Rare is the loss where I don't feel discouraged. I'm still just as optimistic as I was when we beat KC. -
Super Bowl teams are easier to identify in December than in October. The Bills played a great game yesterday. TN played better (and got a few more breaks). There are no good losses, but I think that is one that will benefit them in the long run.
-
We have a great HC. He takes very calculated risks - he's not rash when he makes a gutsy call. And he is not conservative - I rarely if ever see him have a "play not to lose" mentality.
-
I can't argue that the running game is not a glaring need. Both Moss & Singletary are great #2 backs. We don't have that 30-carry a game guy. We have more of a running game than we did last year, but obviously, when we have 3rd or 4th & short, it's a liability.
-
Bad news, but not a bad time for it to happen. We have the bye and a relatively easy schedule coming up. Hopefully it heals quick.

I mean, who wanted to be crowned in October? We're still in great shape. This team will still be a top contender. Not sure if they get the bye, but they'll be right there & will have a chance to. -

I know what you're saying & agree - but were they really happy? After they were, but if I was a Titans fan, that play would have been terrifying... -

I haven't even checked. The mere idea that anyone could be blaming Allen is preposterous. That 3rd down run? That dude will ALWAYS be my QB. Legend. -

TN is really asserting themselves as a nemesis. Kind of fun, in a way. Rivalries are cool, especially when you truly can't stand the other team. -

That kind of thing can be debated forever. I get the opposite view. But if you asked me the basic question, "would you rather have a coach who goes for the win, or goes for OT," and I didn't know anything else, I'd take the former every time.
