I mean, we had a spirited debate for over a year about whether JP Losman or Trent Edwards should start. We were stoked when we signed Kyle Orton. All good remembrances, OP. We paid our dues.

I remember draft day - I'm usually one of the fans who trusts the front office, and was all in on whoever they picked. So I was fine w/ the Allen pick and got behind it. But I do remember thinking that Rosen was probably more of a "sure thing." It's crazy when I think about that whole draft now. I thought Darnold would be amazing, and lamented that we couldn't get him. Man, did things work out. Beane deserves all kinds of credit - I doubt even he saw what Allen would become, but he not only picked the right Josh, but the right QB from that entire draft. Which was one of the most hyped QB drafts in years.

Hot take: Shakir should be the starting slot receiver going forward
Success replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
He has such a burst when he accelerates. We don't really have anyone else like that - I think scouts call that quickness on the field, as opposed to outright speed. He's really fun to watch. And pretty clearly at this point a great draft pick. It says a lot about the depth we have and how good of a job Beane has done that we needed to have a few injuries for a player so talented to get a chance. But I'd agree w/ the OP, and I'd be surprised if the Bills coaches didn't also. He should be a regular. -
I don't want to get too hot-takey in October. But it's really the Bills & Chiefs, then everyone else. All of the teams that I thought would be really strong this season - these 2, the Colts, the Broncos, etc. - are pretty middlin'. The Chiefs are still all that, but I think if we can lock up the 1 seed, we're going all the way this year.

Our guy Beane is hitting on more & more draft picks. Seeing the rookies play so well is good for my soul. That's how you build a long-term contender, and keep Super Bowl windows wide open. You're going to lose great vets to FA and retirement - but if you can keep infusing the team with young talent via the draft, the train stays on the tracks.
-
Oh, dear - Pats fans online think that it's 2007 again after the big win today.
-
It's very exciting to see the rookies play like this. That is going to be the key to keeping this window open w/ JA - putting together good drafts and replacing players who are getting older or we lose to FA w/ talented younger guys.

Hey, "Elam is a bust" crowd - Ssssssssshhhhhhh. When someone is all over a receiver but they make a one handed catch while falling to the ground - that someone didn't get "burned." It was just a great throw and catch.
-
The criticism for Elam is kind of inexplicable to me. No CB could have covered that last one - it was just an amazing catch.
-
I mean, that was a spectacular catch. Not much a CB can do on that.

A quick tribute to the hot-take negativity from earlier in this thread: - Our defense is soft & overrated: they've given up 3 points. - Allen is off and hasn't played well for weeks: he has close to 300 yards and 3 TD's. - Dorsey isn't a good OC: we have 24 points All in one half of football. With over 3 minutes left to play.
-
I was just thinking that. I think we went whole seasons where only 1 or 2 games would have our QB over 200 yards.
-
Davis battled hard for that ball - that was more in the defender's hands. What a fight, what a catch. Davis is BACK.
-
We've made some mistakes - but overall, the team still looks great. The negativity here is kind of ridiculous.
-
Hamlin has been all over the field today.
-
They just didn't execute on that one. Should have been an easy TD to Diggs.
-
Huh? He was right there. He's been excellent for a rookie so far this season.
-
It was an incredible catch - that wasn't even a catch.

Watched the Ravens game again last night. Really excited about Shakir. He only made a couple of plays, but they were both really key plays & he showed a lot of skill w/ each - both in getting open, and making great moves once he had the ball. And man, did we get a little lucky on that Poyer INT in the EZ. The receiver was so wide open - but our pass rush kept Jackson from putting enough on the ball, so it floated and gave Poyer time to get there. Actually, that isn't lucky. Our pass rush forced the bad throw. We're great.

NFLPA initiating investigation into Tua’s concussion protocol

I mean, that would really suck if he's right about that. I hope he's not, but health should always come first. -
Who Has The Bills' Best D-Lineman So Far, Von Miller or Greg Rousseau?
Success replied to jwhit34's topic in The Stadium Wall
If you focus on Groot during games, it's pretty amazing what he's doing. He is a total disruptor. I think Von has elevated his play & everyone else's - but Groot is a keeper for sure. I see him anchoring that line for years, and creating a similar dynamic that we had w/ Kelly & Bruce Smith. Not that everything is comparable to old Bills teams, but it's that kind of thing where he'll be a huge difference-maker on D, and Allen will lead a record-breaking O. -
I never really understood the "controversy" around Edmunds. He came into the league at a very young age. He has developed and is playing great. I don't think he ever played "bad." Beane has some tough decisions to make, and this is one of 'em. We can't lock in every good to great player we have - but Edmunds is absolutely worth keeping if we can afford it.
