Chargers @ Jaguars Playoff Game Thread (i.e. NOT a Bills thread;-)
Success replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
This one was a particularly bad game for the referees. You could argue that it evened out - but there were more than a few egregious calls, and no calls (mainly no calls). Still, Bosa really cost them when he lost his cool. -

If I saw the graphic right - w/ 3 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter, the Jags had a 1.2% chance of winning. -

It's really weird that it turned out this way - the conferences are extremely lopsided in terms of talent at the QB position. It is, as they say, what it is. Allen will be battling all of these guys for the next decade just for the right to GET to a Super Bowl. -

I'd certainly give the Jags a puncher's chance against KC, if that's the match-up. They have playmakers, a resilient QB, and a very solid D. -

Jags are really on the rise. Lawrence is legit - it shows a lot about a QB to have 4 picks in the 1st half, and lead a comeback like that in the 2nd. -
Mac Jones is repeatedly dirty and needs to be reined in

Probably on to the Bruins, like the rest of New England. Football is #4 in that region again. -
Bill Barnwell predicts Bills over the 49ers in SB LVII
Success replied to inthebuff's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bills/Niners would have been a better match-up for us in that 1st SB, imo. It would have been more of a shoot-out, which I think would have favored the K-Gun and how we played at that time. I'd love this match-up this year. Much respect for the Niners D, but I'll definitely take a rookie QB in the SB over the other options. If we get there, of course - the AFC is a gauntlet right now. -
The Bills are easily the "it" team for neutral fans to root for right now. People love Allen, they love the stories about the Bills Mafia, we have the "tortured" thing that fans always root for (like the Cubs had), and of course the Hamlin story. If we win a Lombardi, that will change fast. But I'd embrace becoming a national villain, as well.

It's crazy how important the Bills are in my life. And I make no apologies for that whatsoever. Love 'em.

I'm feelin' it. And I haven't been prior to this year. So, there ya go.

Mac Jones is repeatedly dirty and needs to be reined in

I was surprised by how well Jones played in that last game. If I was a Pats fan, I would have found it encouraging. But it also showed his flaws, which aren't really correctable. He can make a nice throw if he has time in a clean pocket. But if he has to move, the play usually breaks down. He has below-average pocket awareness, including his internal "clock" when it comes to pressure. And he really doesn't have much arm strength. He floats a lot of passes. I'd be perfectly happy if they had him for the next decade or so. -
Bills Super Bowl Appearance Guaranteed, But....

Remember when Luke was training with Yoda, and Yoda gives him that test in the cave, only to find out that his own face is behind Darth Vader's mask? For Bills fans, it's Tom Brady's face behind the mask. Yes - I would certainly want to play the Bucs, if that's the team that makes it. -
We'll order bbq. Brisket, smoked chicken, shrimp & grits, ribs, beans, slaw, mac & cheese. For early games, I generally start w/ beer, and usually pour a vodka drink by the 4th quarter. After, I'll unwind w/ a glass of wine or 2. Holiday on Monday. I love the playoffs.

Tua ruled out vs Buffalo, Skylar Thompson expected to start
Success replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
I feel for Tua - what a tough season for him. Like everyone, I'm worried about his long-term health & career, but that's up to him, his advisors and medical professionals. I hope he can make it back safely, because he's fun to watch (when he's not playing us, of course), and he seems like a great guy. Honestly, it would be one of the more embarrassing losses in Bills history if we don't win now. It could be easy for the team to treat this as a scrimmage now - I have faith that McD won't let that happen though. This really should be an easy win if they're focused. -
He just made everyone better; that is certainly missed.

How is Skip Bayless employed as a sport analyst??
Success replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bayless reinvented sports journalism, and not in a good way. There are a ton of guys now who realize they might be able to make millions by just making outrageous claims and statements. You don't have to be that informed, or follow the games that closely. -
Don't look now, but Bills rounding into playoff shape.

Cincy had a hot start against the Ravens yesterday, too. They were lucky the opposing QB was a 3rd stringer. -
NFL Week #18 - Patriots* @ Bills - Post Game Thread
Success replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
If the Pats should have won more games, they would have won them. That's why I said they remind me of the Bills during the drought. The Bills had very similar years during that time, where they had a good running game & D, and a lot of close games that they just couldn't finish. That was the Pats this year. Pats also could have easily lost to the Steelers & Jets, both times. I think 2 things are going to hold the Patriots back in the years ahead: Mac Jones, and Bill Belichick. The latter has lost his touch, and Jones is exactly the kind of QB that will keep a team picking somewhere between 11 - 17 in every draft. -
Our emerging habit of ending New England's season
Success replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
I get that. Miami is the OLD nemesis, for me. I started watching the Bills in the '80s, and they were the hated team. But the Pats really took their place, and I'd be surprised if that changed for me. I never imagined anything like the run they had against the Bills when I started being a sports fan. It gives me incredible satisfaction to keep beating that team, especially w/ Belichick at the helm. He's the greatest coach in history, and he can't do a thing to stop JA and this team. -
I'm completely focused on the playoffs, and nothing matters (really) until we win the Super Bowl. But I can chew gum & walk at the same time. I can still love that we just ended the Pats season for the 2nd year in a row, and won 6 out of the last 7, with the only loss being in hurricane-force winds. I can love their salty online comments about how "the Bills will just choke to KC again." I can love that they're stuck in the purgatory we had for years - not bad enough to get a high draft pick, not good enough to do anything meaningful. I love, love, love that we have flipped the script w/ that team. And I expect it to continue for a long time. He who laughs last, and all of that....

NFL Week #18 - Patriots* @ Bills - Post Game Thread
Success replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I swear - reading some of the Pats boards, it sounds like we did in during the drought. All about the bad officiating, and how they have cap space & the building blocks, and will be "right back in contention next year." It's kind of wonderful. Spoiler alert: they won't be right back in contention last year. They're headed for an offseason of turmoil if Kraft has had it w/ losing, and pushes Belichick's buttons on changes he thinks should be made to the coaching staff. -

Von & Hyde are really 2 huge losses. I feel like we have a middlin' pass rush without Von, and that we give up way too many easy completions without Hyde. Guys have to step up.
