Yeah - I got a lot of "Marino" responses to my comment. It's valid. I try to be aspirational in my posting, but sometimes reality gets marginalized when I do that. I'm curious about the Chiefs' window. Like us or Cincy, it's kind of open as long as they have the QB they have. But how long will Reid coach? And Kelce is such a difference-maker for that offense. He's approaching his mid-30s. They'll still be a very tough team without either of those guys - but the dynamics will certainly shift. I'm still not buying much Bengals stock. Maybe I'm just being stubborn. I look at that divisional round game as more of a case of the Bills not showing up that day, as opposed to Cincy being that far ahead of us.
-
Chiefs fans think they're our new "Patriots." That they'll prevent us from getting to the SB in the Josh Allen era. They seem to forget: we weren't good during the Brady years. They also forget: even Brady went a decade without winning a ring. We're good now. And while they think JA is miles behind Mahomes, he ain't - he's at worst, 1b. But I still think when all is said & done, he'll be viewed as the better QB. I think we were better than them this past year, and that they were lucky we didn't get past Cincy. I think the Bills end up w/ more Lombardi's w/ Allen as QB than KC ends up w/ w/ Mahomes as QB. I don't care. Fight me.

To the 30% saying neither team will ever win: Josh Allen will not retire without a ring. It is mathematically impossible.

2023 Yankees thread.........Domingo German pitches perfect game
Success replied to BADOLBILZ's topic in Off the Wall
I'm stoked about this year's rotation. Losing Montas hurts a bit; he's not great, but when healthy, he would be a very strong #5 guy. German can take that spot and be as effective. Cole, Rodon, Sevy, Cortes - that's a fearsome top 4. Gotta be top 3 in the league. Houston has been like a brick wall - but I feel like NY might finally break through this year. They need to be more healthy come October than they were this past year. -
Matt Araiza, The Punt God, Signs With Team in Mexico
Success replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall
Putting aside the non-sports stuff: he could have been a game-changing player for the Bills. That one punt was ridiculous - it completely changed field position for both teams. BUT, I loved the way Martin was able to pin teams deep, and do more directional kicks. Distance isn't everything. So, I guess what I'm saying is that I'm good. -
Bills sign S Zayne Anderson to a 2 year deal
Success replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's consistently like that, for years now. It seems like a parody or something. It's probably not correct to judge the fanbase by that board - but it doesn't reflect well on KC at all. -
JA is a generational talent. 2021 was a huge missed opportunity. But I refuse to believe that a QB like JA only gets one shot where everything aligns properly. It's hard to miss out on what looked like a clear path for the Bills to get a title (though that is subject to debate) - but you can look back on a lot of championship teams that had near misses leading up to their breakthrough. I consider it more like Jordan's Bulls, who had to take their lumps against the Pistons for a few years before finally getting the title, and going on a run.

Most championship teams - in any sport - needed some luck along the way. I would contend that we've gotten very little, if any. Last year, the Niners dropped an easy INT in the NFCCG that would have basically sealed that game for them. The Bengals were also kind of lucky to be there, given how KC gave the AFCCG away. This year, the luck went against the Bengals, with some very questionable calls in the KC game, and went KC's way, with a soft call at the end of the game that prevented the Eagles from getting a chance to tie or win the game in the last 2 minutes. And you can go back to just about any SB. Once in awhile, there is a juggernaut, and luck isn't as needed. But usually, luck plays a big part - and I'd argue we haven't had much. From our top 4 receivers all being injured in the AFCCG 2 years ago, to the coin toss last year, to all of the crazy situations this year. So many things have to happen to win a SB. You need a great team - but you also need a few breaks.

I'd like to purchase the Patriots, and move them to Montana. I'd also like to visit Paris.

You didn't include '22, but I think that could end up being the best draft since '17. Elam, Cook & Shakir could all be starters in the upcoming season. Benford could too if he moves to safety; if not, he's a very quality backup at corner.
-
We will miss him quite a bit if he leaves. He's not irreplaceable - but he is one of the leaders & playmakers on D. It adds one more thing to Beane's list if he moves on.

I get taking a break, if that's what he's doing. And I hope that's what he's doing - his posting is so informative. Usually I don't post at all for months after the season ends. It generally ends in sort of heartbreaking fashion, and I just put it aside for awhile. I don't think I started posting again last year until the draft.

Quote from Josh highlighting the Bills' flawed thinking...
Success replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is just PR talk. It's the "right" thing to say. But teams always build their teams with the competition in mind. KC might not come out & say it - but they're looking at QB's like Allen & Burrow when they make personnel decisions on defense. At minimum. -
This board would do a 180 if we signed OBJ - everyone would be excited about it. And that's because it would be exciting. When healthy, he is still a top receiver, and would solve our problem at WR2 - allowing us to focus on the O-line and other needs in the first few rounds of the draft.

Bills need to hit on picks to have a chance
Success replied to Niagara Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall
Edmunds will get re-signed, but not Poyer (imo). Edmunds is huge for our defense. If he isn't a Bill this fall, LB becomes a top priority in the draft - and we can't afford to waste a high draft pick on that position this year. It has to be WR & OL. -
JuJu went there. Tweet about the holding call in the Super Bowl.
Success replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
That'll teach players to have some honesty after a game. I don't see this as normal trash talk. Brown is spot on - it's lame. KC got bailed out by a soft call - and arguably have another title because of it. Let it go & just be grateful you got the W. -
Bills 2023 schedule 7th hardest (based off of 2022 opponents)
Success replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
The important thing there is that the other 3 AFCE teams have equally as hard/harder schedules. Win the division. Worry about the rest later. I'm not even so sure that homefield is the best thing for this team. -
It was noble of the Eagles player to admit he held. And he did hold. But when they say you can call holding on every play, that's what they're talking about. Officials have to change their standard in final minutes of a title game. If it's borderline, or doesn't affect the outcome of a play - just let them play. You simply do not throw a flag there. That crew would have flagged holding on the helmet catch, or blown the play dead before Eli even threw the ball.

Did anyone hear Booger saying that was a TD if not for the "hold?" Man, was that dubious.

We have a Super Bowl trophy (or two) if Andy Reid was our head coach
Success replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Eagles fans couldn't wait to run Reid out of town. Winning a SB requires about a dozen different things to happen perfectly. I think Reid is great - but he needed other things to go well. -
I'd agree - but Reid is still important. If he retires, it makes things much harder for the Chiefs. Sure, they could pick up another top coach. But I wouldn't bet on it.
-
It's all worth it if we hear Reid w/ something like, "Ya know, I've accomplished everything I want to accomplish, so...."
-
KC likely wins that game without the holding call. But refs, C'MON. You have to be more careful w/ a few minutes to go in the game. You could have called that a dozen times, at least, Keep it consistent, and above all, DO NOT make calls that decide games.
