Did McCoy Quit or Did the Bills Shelve Him?
Matt_In_NH replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
McCoy off the field.....another story but on the field what I have witnessed the last 3+ years is a guy who is a good teammate and a true gamer. he plays injured. He played most of a season with hurt hamstring where he may have been able to get healthy by taking a couple games off. He played that playoff game with an ankle injury. The guy is a gamer. -
I like the sales job on the offense, lots of formation, player groups, try to find mismatches. The results are historically bad though.

The Chiefs are totally inept at making trades. -

There were different OC's every single year dude. Lets just agree to disagree. -

The "Trees" are focusing on WR like you are here. You need to also consider the QB and coaching (offensive coordinator/system) which are more important. If you also list those out in the table above it will show other factors contributing to the results. The way this reads you pick WR's and then you have a good offense. Talk about forest and trees....come on. -
QB is always the root of offensive problems
Matt_In_NH replied to mjt328's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The OP definitely sums up how I feel. There is a ridiculous fascination with WR's due to fantasy football, the they get the stats. No one pays attention to the fact that when guys who previously got stats come to Buffalo they no longer due. The WR's were a "problem" when we had Watkins, Woods, Hogan and Goodwin. Get Demaryius Thomas and then when the offensive output stays they same what will the excuse be? We need another and another. Its the QB!!!!!! QB's make WR's WR's cannot make a QB Start with a QB, always. We have a QB, Allen...big arm, smart, runs fast and jumps tall buildings with a single bound. However he cant process what happens after the snap for anything right now. That is the #1,#2 and #3 problem's. If he does not improve no amount of all pro WR's will change anything. A QB who can process and react to what he sees after the snap might not have great stats but they would not be this far in gutter with the talent on the Bills right now. -

I will start with the QB and kick your ass for decades. Your dominant OL will fall apart within a few years before your QB has "grown"" or whatever. By not throwing him the ball in rhythm or accuracy. Also by not executing, going three and out, throwing interceptions. Those all reduce touches. -

Yes we disagree. this fan base has been screaming about WR's for a good decade, yet when we did have some they never performed, why because the QB's sucked. WR's dont make QB's, that never works. The WR's are bad and should be addressed in FA and draft. Look at DT's contract....another one year rental but at a really high price. It just makes no sense for this team other than to put butts in the seats. the QB has to be able to process what happens after the snap and throw in rhythm, with anticipation. Allen has not shown that and if he did he would throw for over 200 yards per game instead of 133 with the guys on the roster now. Get younger/more economical choices in the offseason. This season is toast. Who should trade for DT? Someone trying to win the SB, not a rebuilding team. -

I think DT is a bad option for Buffalo right now. He would not be happy and in the long run it is not good for the Bills. The quarterbacks will not magically be able throw to DT in any rhythm because he's DT. You need to fix QB first then worry about WR's. This team is building for the future, acquiring aging overpriced vets seems like the wrong approach. LOL not to mention did anyone look at his contract for next year? LOL no wonder they are trying to trade him. -

He will be an FA likely not to resign here so get what you can. If anyone else fits that mold trade them to. And DT would be happy here? -
He looks like he has a dislocated upper face. We are the general public not a judge or jury. People can form opinions based on internet message boards and news reports. Sometimes they are wrong, but more often they are right. Did you need a jury to tell you OJ did it or not? Guilty people get off all the time, that does make them innocent, rather the case was not proven.

The Vikings think Allen > Darnold
Matt_In_NH replied to Teddy KGB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its too early to tell for both. You make a couple good points, especially about the reps. I am not sure the Jets have a better supporting cast, if they do its marginal. This staff totally mismanaged QB all offseason and we are seeing the result. For the bolded, on one had I could say both stats suck but the Jets under Darnold gain a lot more yards and score a lot more TD's than the Bills under Allen. Completion percentage and ratings both suck balls. But at least Darnold has some success throwing the ball, Allen really does not as of yet. -

you are mixing them up. Leodis's lawn was after the Pats debacle. -

Out of the three there, its hard to pick which was worst. They were all so crushing in their own ways. And all so go darn wrong. -
Pats 61 Bills 5

Remember when Pennington threw for 4500 yards and 45 TD's? that is what Luck is on pace for. You really dont think his arm can continue to get stronger?
-
I dont think they are more focused on defense than offense in the big picture. I mean they have built up the defense first but that does not really say they favor defense over offense. Given the state of the team they inherited, that is the way it happened. It takes more time to get a QB and develop him than to get some nice defensive pieces.
-
What? Just fire them now then. Seriously this statement is ridiculous. They are rebuilding, they have shed talent and payroll. A third of their salary cap is for guys not on the team. The offense is terrible and is not really fixable without an offseason. To expect them to win on Monday night given they have bottomed out (by design) is outrageous. I am just hoping this does not go as bad as a couple other prime time games have gone with these guys. Remember Randy Moss 4 td's in the first half? I dont think they need a Czar....that is Beane, he has total control of the football team. Hopefully he knows what he is doing. Jacksonville has a Czar, talent everywhere and they are 3-4 on a team that is supposed to be competing for a SB. We need to remind ourselves, the plan these guys had was to tear it down to then build it back up. We experiencing the bottom....its not fun but had to happen.

I love it but also cant do the flat brim thing....just doesnt work for my head.

The Vikings think Allen > Darnold
Matt_In_NH replied to Teddy KGB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Darnold completes 56.1%, 10 TD's, 10 INT's 221.7 ypg and a 74.3 rating Josh Allen completes 54%, 2 TD's 5 INT's 138.7 ypg and a 61.8 rating. Darnold throws for 165% more yards than allen per game, has a better rating and TD to INT ratio. Based on the stats Darnold is significantly ahead. Neither are performing in a way that will win you a lot of games but Darnold is throwing for a reasonable volume of yards/td's for a rookie. There are not a lot of signs of life from Allen IMO so far other than a few plays he has made with his legs. Both can improve immensely though given some more experience this year, an offseason of work and an influx of talent. I am not gonna lie though, I worry if Allen can get it together. -
Josh Allen for Derek Carr? Bills get the big contract, Raiders get the big arm.
