Yeah I think if Chubb is off the board the Bills pay a lot more for Allen. The Bills just had way more ammo and were willing to use it. so I dont think the Cardinals were a real threat there. What I would love to know is what order the Bills had the QB's in. Also would like to know if the Cardinals would have drafted Allen over Rosen. Some of that we wont know for years.
It is not a myth....lets revisit after the first round.
You will not convince me that all the trades for "draft capital" from last year (including the Glenn trade) and this year are to get the best QB prospect they can get their hands on. They are screaming the want to get as high in this draft as they can without actually saying it.
I am sure my post came off as some mock of Emmitt Smith but it was not meant to be. He was great but he also benefited from a great team around him that focused on running the ball. A lot of his TD's were based on a team that just dominated the other. The NFC did have better competition but they were the kings over a 4 year period. When it comes to recieving, Thurman had a much larger average, he was like a WR at times whereas Smith got his catches as a dump off. I wonder what would happen if they had switched teams but keep everything else the same? I actually think they were both the ideal RB for their offense.
Emmitt was really durable and consistent and had more stats but Thurman was the better all around back. That Dallas team had the best OL in NFL history or close to it.
The signing bonus thing is interesting....I would have been quite surprised if they were going to release him. But if he knew he was going to retire he took what he could get in a bonus.
If they end up with a franchise QB the picks will be forgettable. If the guy busts then everyone will look in hindsight at the best player taken after each pick and say we have had 1,2,3,4,5.....
