Thinking about the International Pathway Program.
Rochesterfan replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am not sure they have that many serious potential players each year. I thought I heard the NFL saying they had like 10-15 petitions for positions this year and evaluated them and choose the best 4 most likely to make it through. I think they could bump it up to 8 maybe, but the pay is coming from the league pool - not the individual teams - so they want legitimate players that have shots - not just a bunch of random foreign players. -
OAK planning to suspend AB (edit: apologized, playing)
Rochesterfan replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I do not think that is an option. I believe from the old TO/Dallas issues - the team can only suspend him for a maximum of 4 games for conduct detrimental to the team. Then they have to move on in another way or wait for him to mess up again for additional punishment. The league on the other hand - based on conduct (threats made) have a 6 games or longer option, but I doubt they use it. The suspension of the first game is the big one though in that one game can void almost all of his guarantees and his yearly salary and therefore make it possible to cut him and not be financially hamstrung. We will see how it plays out, but I am guessing they will suspend him and if AB puts up a fit (as we all suspect) they will work with the league on an option to be done with the contract. My guess is a court date/arbitration hearing to determine the exact amount needed to shred things and a “suspension” until everything is agreed to. -
If Chad Kelly Was Ever Going to Make It
Rochesterfan replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting to revisit after the Brissett extension and now a 3 year deal for Hoyer. Where does that leave Kelly - probably on the way out of another NFL city. Is his next stop going to be XFL next year? -
Noah Spence, Treadwell headline visits today
Rochesterfan replied to PirateHookerMD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think all of these guys were kick the tires - just in case - kind of guys. They typically do not have PS eligibility left and are really being looked at so they have them on file just in case. I do not see them signing any of these guys for the first couple of weeks. They will most likely let week 1 play out and see how injuries and roster make-up work and then will revisit these types of players. -

I think the raw - small school guy with huge upside Gunner was referring to was our Darryl Johnson in that quote - not Noah Spence. Just my thought on the way it reads. -
Florio: Texans "New Look No GM" Grades an "F"
Rochesterfan replied to OldTimeAFLGuy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It doesn’t work because they traded 2 first round picks for a mid level LT nearing the end of his contract. It is already known he wants significant money and they did this without signing him to a future contract. Therefore they just screwed themselves with Clowney and now they put themselves in the same boat with Tunsil. If they got a contract done and it was 1 first rd pick - great, but 2 firsts and no contract means they have potentially put themselves in a bind and get little return for a questionable talent. -
Conor McDermott must have pictures of Uncle Sean
Rochesterfan replied to Wayne Arnold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually - I just think he has a bit of luck so far. They brought in Waddle to be the swing tackle and he got hurt. McDermott was better than the other host of tackles they let go (Rhaney, Jones, Magnuson). We will see, but if they can get a better prospect - he will be gone, but I think he gives them swing OT depth for a few days - until everything settles down. -
I do think it signals a change. All off season we heard they were going to have the offense go through the running game. I think game 2 showed them if they spread out and run the offense through Allen - he and the offense function better - spread out.

Maybe they had a weak offer from a crud team like Cincinnati and out of respect for Shady decided to allow him to determine his own fate.

Is that @Chandler#81 in his church league uniform after a 3 pointer. Better look into what church he went to.

Clowney Trending for some reason.
Rochesterfan replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not true - we know he worked with Gaines on a long term extension that was nixed by O’Brien over the spring - so he obviously wanted to stay in Houston from the beginning- yes money was important, but so was avoiding playing on the tag. We also know that he fired his agent a week + ago just as the trade rumors really started - meaning he was not happy with the direction he was being given and did not want to be traded. Yes at this point the only control he has is his signature on the tag. He wanted a long term deal, but after July passed he is stuck with only the tag for 2019/20. There was little reason for him to sign early because he gets nothing extra. I think even now if the Texans agreed not to trade him on the tag he would sign right now and play the year out. He is withholding the signing because once he signs the Texans can trade him to whom ever they want and there are teams - see Miami - he has clearly made it clear he does not want to play for. From the discussion points it seems - ideally he would stay in Houston - then if they are going to trade it is Philly and Seattle- it seems obvious he wants nothing to do with Miami. If he is going to be traded - of course he wants to control the team as much as possible and I don’t blame him. -

You have a problem with the language- the agents, players, NFLPA, media lawyers, fans, writers - they all have the same conclusion since we are over 20 years with the franchise tag and this same issue occurs every couple of years with the exact same outcome. The player either chooses to play on the franchise tag with his current or new team or sits out. Not once in over 20 years - in one of the most contentious pieces of the CBA - has anyone interpreted the language your way. I understand from whatever job you have you think it is ambiguous, but much of the CBA is like that (see the Wade threads and the IPP language), but the finality and usage is also discussed during the process and these form the agreed to guidance from players and NFLPA. I get you might say try to fight it and maybe you are right, but until that either happens or the new CBA - that is not a valid option and what has been reported for 20+ years is correct. Under the current rules as designed- he can only sign the financial terms of the tag with his current team and that is locked in for this entire football year at his time. Once the year is done he is free to begin negotiations with that team on a long term contract. My guess is you are totally missing a inter-related agreement in the CBA that adds to the understanding because it is pretty obvious that your interpretation is either incorrect or lacking at this current point and time. -

I think he would have been happy up until the trade talk. He wanted to sign there long term and then planned to come up this week - prior to all of the trade garbage. -
Listen to Bills games via internet radio?
Rochesterfan replied to streetkings01's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Have not tried that - I just know on mobile platforms - phones - I-pads, the broadcast does not work, but when I listen on a labtop at work - no issues. -

It will work on laptops, but not phones - They block mobile devices from the broadcast. It has been that way for years. -

Yep I am sure all of these Tags - year after year and not one has challenged it because they are all stupid. Or maybe as you stated originally- you only read that part of the CBA and do not know what other rules and subtexts are part of it. Again - all I can say is should I believe all of the articles, research, lawyers working for the networks, and NFL guys that state one thing OR a guy that is on the internet and read one small passage and thinks he knows more than everyone else the last 15+ years. Hmm choices - not sure ? - I will go with the vast majority understand something you don’t - whether it is a hidden provision that you do not have, whether it was something explicitly stated elsewhere, or whether it has never come up and will never come up. Finally - Again at least I have cited references of why I believe the point is what it is. You can disagree, but you can not provide me with one scrape of proof that your interpretation is at all within the scope of the CBA. In fact you even admitted early on that you have not read the CBA - just a small section you quoted - that other pointed out - they believe you totally misinterpreted, but stand your ground and have fun. I am sure just like your AB example - this would end up another loss where the agent looks like a total moron for trying to exploit a loophole that isn’t there. ? -
You missed one important option - he can wait to sign the tag after the trade deadline passes - getting paid for 10 weeks (10 million dollars) and accruing his season and effectively blocking any trade he does not want to be a part of. He can also make signing the tender contingent on being traded to a team he wants because there is nothing the Texans can do until he signs. I also believe the Texans could rescind the tag and effectively make him a FA right now and lose and compensation, but that would just be dumb. Basically he has already blocked a trade to Miami once. They then got a meeting and it does not seem Clowney is still real interested and he still holds the cards. I got think Miami is just stupid if they meet a deal for a guy that has made it clear a couple of times he is not happy going there. You get a dejected player that is not happy - seems like a recipe for disaster.

Jordan Mills Released by Miami
Rochesterfan replied to Phil The Thrill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You seemed to miss one: D.). He was injured after Preseason Game 1 and was still not healthy - so they decided to cut bait nullifying B&C He was not great and if you are mediocre to bad and you are unavailable- you get cut. It happens to lots of guys - especially veterans that cost more than FA or UDFAs. -
This makes no sense from Houston (or Philadelphia) - even if you got scooped on Dillard. Clowney and a first for Dillard would mean Clowney is worth less than nothing. Even the other way Clowney for a first and Dillard- would be like the Eagles giving 2 1st Rd picks for Clowney. Neither makes sense in my eyes.

Depends on what you consider the starting point for the turnaround. Rams the rebuild starts with Donald in 2014 and Gurley in 2015 - so about 4 years to replace and rebuild. It was plodding along until they got their QB in year 3 and then signed a ton of FA (sounds about like Buffalo - hmm). Chiefs - they have not rebuilt since 2012. They have been in the playoffs and building a team for 6 years - no turnaround - their record last year was the same as 2 years before. Man Wawrow is ragging them big time. That is at least his second tweet directly a the podcast calling them out - makes me laugh!
