  1. Well one of the few positives from this year has been Wheeler. Another great effort tonight. I’m starting to believe more and more he’s getting it together.
  2. He’s always stuck me as a look at me/narcissist type personality. Even that time he was crying after the Cowboys playoff loss I think he was trying to draw attention to himself. I have no doubt that’s all this HOF absence is. However, I do have some appreciation for the year he was here. I remember a few temper tantrums he threw but never too much drama. In fact I still think that 2009 team could have been so much more if Fitz started from Day 1 and Fewell was the coach. Someone recently posted highlighted from his one year with the Bills on YouTube
  3. The old USA network I remember as well had game shows on most of the day in the late 80's/early 90's. I used to love Press Your Luck with the whammys.
  4. I saw a stat SNY posted after tonight’s game that it’s been literally over 100 years a starter with as low an ERA DeGrom has, has as poor a win-loss percentage. If it wasn’t for DeGrom batting as well tonight the Mets only got one base hit. To quote Bob Uecker from Major League, One Hit just One Damn Hit! Don’t worry Monty nobody’s probably listening anyway....
  5. Nah unfortunately that was one year before I started really following baseball, was only 6 then. The 1991 Mets were the team I’d watch and picked up on all the rules of the game. Thst must have been something though for him to say that! Murphy was the best
  6. One I just remembered, Laura Leighton. Was on Melrose Place a little bit and I think is still active. I’m guessing most people would find her average looking but to me she’s always been very beautiful
  7. RIP to a legend today. It was 14 years ago to the date when Bob Murphy passed away. https://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/04/sports/bob-murphy-79-an-original-voice-of-the-mets.html I always liked as a kid and teenager hearing his genuine optimism and happy recaps. Always professional in his broadcasting as well
  8. Nah, just at lunch
  9. Lol sometimes the bathroom can be your friend in social gatherings to get away. Like me right now, I’m feel anxiety coming on but escape here for deep breaths without doing a number 2. ?
  10. Sports cards and NBA jerseys. Even jerseys of players on teams I didn’t root for. Most of the collection I threw out as I got older
  11. I know your a big Bobby V guy but the reality is I don’t think another manager like that is coming. Wally Backman never got a chance to manage in the big leagues with the organization either. Ownership seems to prefer cheaper managers just happy to have a job. Doubleday still had some say back in Bobby Vs day. I think your criticisms of Calloway are legit but idk man I’m just not optimistic firing him will solve things. Batista yeah agree but Alomar from memory was still at the top of his game the year before. Olerud was here a few successful years but it seems like a really long time ago already
  12. On another note I always find it interesting when player positions pitch. I still never forget the night in 2001 when Desi Relaford came in. I mean he hit 90 on the gun and got the side out 1,2,3. I still to this day always wanted to see him get a little more pitching opportunities. Roberto Alomar I think eventually replaced Desi the next year. Still one of the biggest disappointments in terms of players I had expectations for here
  13. The Chargers and Saints games last year I think were the only Bills game we lost by more points then the Mets did runs tonight. Maybe I’m more of a Bills fan because those losses depressed/pissed me off more. Or I’m just numb at this point
  14. After tonight’s first inning maybe Matz was the starter that should have been moved. Yikes! Guess their gonna role like this the rest of the way with these players. Sigh
  15. I didn’t think EJ looked bad at all his first couple games here. In retrospect that was kind off as good as it got in his career. I think of Mark Sanchez as well. His first two years weren’t bad before he completely came apart with the butt fumble and all
  16. There is a MTV classic station I just found that plays some of them. Im time strapped too but sometimes at night I’ll keep it on
  17. Or Seven Nation Army before kickoffs
  18. Well it may disprove my theory a little today being Wheeler had to drive in his own run to make the difference!
  19. So I found one of the Math programs I used to watch on PBS when I was around 4 to 6 years old. One of my first memories of watching TV. Cheesy as anything but still holds a special place in my heart
  20. This seemed to be the start of that run from 88 to 93. Thanks for posting, it's a definitely a forgotten about game. I think was the first home playoff game at that point for a long time.
  21. When I think about it and after reading this thread, I don't know how much better those Cowboys teams were than the Bills. Super Bowl 27 we were still within striking distance to start the 4th, and then Super Bowl 28 we were dominating until the Thurman fumble. In Super Bowl 27 and the second half of Super Bowl 28 we just played some really ugly football. Also add in to the mix we beat the Cowboys in Dallas in the regular season in 1993 and just a few years later in Buffalo in 1996. I think we are still the last Super Bowl losers to make it back the next season, never mind three times in a row. That's gotta show some resiliency.
  22. Our last couple national TV games against the Jets haven't gone particularly well. I'm more concerned with everyone being healthy.
  23. This may sound like a really stupid question but do DeGrom's teammates not like him? Or maybe they somehow feel they can coast when he pitches. Heck, DeGrom had the most hits of any Mets player last night. I just don't understand why he never gets run support. When it's been like that for so long my mind wonders to look a little deeper and question how coincidental it is
