https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mets-reportedly-leaning-toward-hiring-old-school-gm-worried-about-being-too-analytics-driven/ Just came across that article. I thought the last sentence was pretty funny and telling. What they say and what they will do are often two different things. I would like to see a less Moneyball type GM. At this point though I don't even know how much it will help. Doesn't seem like Mickey's going anywhere

There are days that seems nice! Especially today when the whole phone system here just went out

A similar article was in the paper yesterday about Rutgers payouts. https://www.nj.com/education/2018/08/rutgers_golden_parachutes_top_11_million_see_the_c.html Must be nice! I swear in my next lifetime I want to be a state worker

I came across a lot of people I'd just say were naïve. There was these two kids in my senior Math class Rob and Jeff who used to just jab at each other constantly albeit somewhat good willed. Standard mama jokes like your mom is just like Ellis Island all the immigrants go through her, etc... The teacher is totally blind to this all the time. One time instead of writing sec x on the board she writes sex x. At the same time she turns around and looks at the board Rob unloads a textbook across the room which smacks Jeff right in the face. Everyone's hysterical laughing but this teacher was dumb enough to think they were laughing at her error. One of my friends wives can be a real PITA. She'll make you take off your shoes so the carpet won't bring in dirt among many other anal-retentive characteristics. So one day she's telling me she's upset the girl who reported to her left for another job. What she failed to recognize was that I'm sure her engaging personality played a part

I’m not even sure the DMV is ran by the state anymore. Hence the better service over the years. That place used to be a nightmare!

In NJ from my experiences these jobs are a racket. High salaries, good benefits, pensions after retirement, low stress, pretty much have to kill someone to get fired, etc... Just the other day I saw three workers from the town changing a lightbulb at the library. Talk about a waste of tax payer money!! Not gonna make this into Martin Luther’s 95 Theses here. Are these jobs kind of a joke where you live?

Bills trade with Browns for Corey Coleman
Another Fan replied to 17islongenough's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When he was the Browns, he had hand injuries more than once which is kinda bizarre given he makes his living using them. Not really my first choice but maybe “The Process” gets through to him so to speak -
Not so flattering write-up on Ray Lewis and the NFL
Another Fan replied to Heavy Kevi's topic in Off the Wall Archives
If Ray actually did do the crime I bet there’s a good chance in his head he doesn’t even believe it. I mean if your protected that much... -
It’s Monday morning, I need some motivation. These two are good. The Rocky one I watch every couple of years

Glad you had a good time! With that said I only caught the 10th inning today. Looks like they reverted to form! Guy on second with no outs and they couldn’t bring him home.

Earliest TV shows/specials you remember watching
Another Fan replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
The inner child in me will still watch the Math special I initially posted from time to time. Plus I still like to shop in markets that look like that old fashioned food store where some people still count change to pay. I guess stuff like that doesn’t necessarily leave you when you can recall it ? -
Well one of the few positives from this year has been Wheeler. Another great effort tonight. I’m starting to believe more and more he’s getting it together.

He’s always stuck me as a look at me/narcissist type personality. Even that time he was crying after the Cowboys playoff loss I think he was trying to draw attention to himself. I have no doubt that’s all this HOF absence is. However, I do have some appreciation for the year he was here. I remember a few temper tantrums he threw but never too much drama. In fact I still think that 2009 team could have been so much more if Fitz started from Day 1 and Fewell was the coach. Someone recently posted highlighted from his one year with the Bills on YouTube

The old USA network I remember as well had game shows on most of the day in the late 80's/early 90's. I used to love Press Your Luck with the whammys. -
I saw a stat SNY posted after tonight’s game that it’s been literally over 100 years a starter with as low an ERA DeGrom has, has as poor a win-loss percentage. If it wasn’t for DeGrom batting as well tonight the Mets only got one base hit. To quote Bob Uecker from Major League, One Hit just One Damn Hit! Don’t worry Monty nobody’s probably listening anyway....
