I might be an outlier here...... Draft needs
transplantbillsfan replied to Yantha's topic in The Stadium Wall
Are you just trolling? Center as our top need? Cornerback as our 6th highest need? TE as our 2nd highest need? No. No. No. Morse was just extended so even if you don't like him, he's not going anywhere. Regardless of whether you like him, though, he's good. He played really well last year and most who watch film professionally agree. We have 2 TEs that are high upside potential TE1s on the roster for 2022. Yes, we can look forward to 2023, but Buffalo likes to keep its own developed players. Dawson Knox isn't going anywhere... especially considering his relationship with Josh Allen. Yes we should draft one, but probably no earlier than the 3rd round because he'll be TE2. CB is our biggest need. We don't know if Tre White will even be ready to start the season and if you're okay with Dane Jackson, Cam Lewis and Taron Johnson as our starting 3 CBs you're nuts. I agree WR isn't highest on the list because we have 4 out of our 7 wide receivers from last year locked up through the 2023 season and I legitimately think Gabriel Davis is a strong #2 WR and McKenzie is plenty capable to man the slot. But if there's a guy like Jameson Williams who can take the top off the defense and add another component to our offense, we should probably draft him. This just had to be trolling. If you said something like Safety, I might agree with you. I can absolutely see Beane drafting Kyle Hamilton if he falls and either trading Poyer or keeping him and using Hamilton as a hybrid guy on the field or drafting Daxton Hill and putting him at CB2 (and most experts believe he can more than capably be a CB) before moving to Safety. -

One of the best shows on television... and that ending pushed it across that line for me. When does season 2 come out?! -

Ya know, the more I think about round 1 and Brandon Beane, the more I think it's going to be a traits guy we draft over anything like a "safe bet" or "great college production. 2018 he drafts Allen and Edmunds in round 1.... TRAITS!!!! 2019 he drafts Oliver... TRAITS!!! (yes I know he's small, but the traits weren't his size) 2020 we had no 1st rounder 2021 he drafts Groot... TRAITS!!! It almost seems like a better bet that Beane goes out of his way to figure out how to draft the physical freaks of this draft (Watson, Drake Burks, Booth, Jameson Williams, Stingley, Sauce, Kyle Hamilton) over the more polished guys with college production (McDuffie, Gordon, Olave, Wilson, McReary, Dotson, Moore). And notice I said "better bet." I don't think the guys on that 2nd list are off our board, it just seems like Beane really values unique physical traits f some sort. And I know all those guys on that first list don't share the same physical traits, but there's something physically with them that stands out. It actually makes me wonder how high a guy like Tyquan Thornton is on Beane's board. -
I don't think Moss was even good in his rookie year. I'm hoping he's not on the roster next year because we've either traded him (hopefully) or cut him after a TC battle with Singletary, Johnson and whatever rookie(s) we draft. He's Devin Singletary except slower, more injury prone, and with poorer vision.

Severance is one of the best shows I've watched in awhile. Can't wait for the last episode of season 1 on Friday! I finally watched Peacemaker. I wasn't going to watch it initially because I thought The Suicide Squad was horrendous (I actually liked Suicide Squad). Peacemaker was actually really good, though. By contrast, I brought up Our Flag Means Death earlier. First half of the series was fantastic. The ending of the season was AWFUL!!! -

Diggs Extended 4 more years breaking news per WGR 550
transplantbillsfan replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall
If we cut $10m off the CAP that's A LOT!!!! I think we had about a mil before this, so that leaves roughly $8m after draft picks. That would be enough for a premium remaining FA -

Holy crap! This is awesome! Weird immediate question but how much Cap space does this free up? -
Can you imagine if Hughes just wanted to play 1 year on the vet minimum opposite Von Miller? Really gonna miss him.

I don't think any of this does happen, but the simple fact is that Hyde (and Poyer) are both now on the wrong side of 30 and we do have a couple of young Safeties we've been grooming. Jaquan Johnson is a guy who's been under their tutelage for 3 years now and he's in the final year of his rookie deal. I don't think it happens, but I do think Hyde and Poyer might be the most likely candidates given age, contracts, and what's behind them. Though Edmunds might be the popular move, who would fill his spot on our roster? Any GM trading for Zack Moss would soon be fired.

WR really isn't a pressing need this year, but it's not because of Marquez Stevenson. I actually agree that our WR corps will be better this year than last, but it's really because Davis is better than Sanders and Crowder/McKenzie will be better than the hobbled Beasley from last year. After that it's just depth. I think Stevenson will be our permanent returner and our 6th spot is Touchdown Jesus. Maybe Hodgins impresses and creates that 7th spot. This year isn't the worry for WR... at least in my eyes. The future is the worry. Next season (2023) we will have our current number 1 and number 2 WRs in the final years of their contracts. Now, we clearly keep 1 somehow, but will we be able to keep both? And if we can't, do we trade either Diggs or Davis next offseason? For me, this is why I would be happy if we got Jameson Williams and just put him on PUP to start the year. I won't be remotely surprised or upset if we go CB in the 1st and RB in the 2nd. But we're still drafting a WR at some point. And in this draft class by all accounts you can get a significant contributor at WR on day 3 of this draft. All this is to say that Stevenson is really going to be fighting for a roster spot.

Off Topic guess Lamar’s new contract
transplantbillsfan replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sorry, but it's insane that Lamar is going to get money significantly greater than Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes. I don't think Lamar is going to be out of the league in the next few years, but I really think that MVP season he had will be an outlier for his career. And I don't think he lasts even 10 more years in the league as a high level starter. But please Baltimore... be stupid and pay him that Watson $230 million guaranteed. Just insane.... -

Gunner's 2022 Mock Draft (v3 and FINAL - p.17!!)
transplantbillsfan replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
@GunnerBill would you still predict a Guard in round 2? Love your 1st pick. Now that we brought Bates back and with the addition of Saffold and bringing Boettget OL is no longer really a need. Sucks Breece Hall would be drafted 2 picks before our 2nd round pick in your version. WE NEED A CORNER!!! -

Bills match Bears Offer Sheet for Ryan Bates, 4 yr deal
transplantbillsfan replied to nato7412's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is fantastic news. First of all, our OL is SET for this year!!! Second of all, our OL has 3 out of 5 positions SET for years to come!!! If you develop a player like Bates, you don't just let him go. Glad Beane did this. We'll have to find a replacement for Saffold next year and Morse a couple years down the line, but I think this is fantastic! -
Respectfully, it seems you're conflating Cosell's statement that Moore will ultimately be more of a slot guy in the NFL (which we need) with your own notion that he's not high on him. I don't think he's his #1 WR... but anyone can feel free to start listening at 9 minutes in to see if I'm crazy. I would note that his emphasis on Moore's "competitive toughness" is pretty huge for a slot WR.

This can be merged to another thread if a mod wants, but with his overall expertise I thought his insights were interesting, especially since I don't watch ANY college football. My biggest takeaways: Really high on George Pickens (like REALLY high) and Skyy Moore Not really high on Drake London... compared him to Marcus Colston and said all the Wide Receivers he's being compared with (Mike Evans, Mike Williams, Michael Pittman) were better prospects. Deep WR class. Can find a "starter" (in today's NFL... meaning top 3 guy for your roster) in round 4. As far as scheme fit for Buffalo he named Jameson Williams and Jahon Dotson as 2 players he'd like in Buffalo’s offense assuming it doesn't change much. CB in the 1st and Dotson in the 2nd? I don't know if he'll be available there because I've seen reports of him as a 1st round prospect, but he seems more likely to fall there than Williams. Dotson's pro day was yesterday but I don't think Beane was in attendance... though that doesn't mean much. Apparently it went well and he's excellent tracking the deep ball.

Let’s not act like Tua is some scrub
transplantbillsfan replied to bubba2018's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's a scrub based on expectations and where he was drafted. Yeah... maybe his numbers improve a bit, but Buffalo has OWNED Miami with Josh Allen at the helm. So maybe we don't beat em by a total score of 61-11 in 2022... I still think we'll go 2-0 against them.
